Heritage Heating & Plumbing

Really debated if this should be a 2 or 3 star review.
We have used Heritage in the past for jobs and they did a quote before starting any work. We were charged for the quote, but at least we knew what we were getting into. I had asked them to come and assess this latest job, but at the first appointment they went right into doing the work. I was okay with this as it was hinted at that this job was not complicated. My bad???
We were charged ten hours of labor but no one was here for 3 – 4 of those hours. Presumably the guy was out finding parts, but getting charged full labor costs for that when we are already paying for the parts seems ridiculous. I can understand if there was cost for mileage and gas built into the parts (and there may have been as I was never given a receipt for the parts) but to be charged the full hourly labor cost — which is apparently $ 187.50/hr and seems high on its own — in addition to the parts is absurd.
Also the amount of time spent on the job (even including the time tracking down the parts/​away from the actual job) was closer to nine hours than ten so I guess they round up to the hour or get paid for their commute. I guess that works well when they charge $ 187.50/hour. When I got the final bill I was appalled. They did work with me, a little, on the final cost but even in the end it really was not acceptable.
The guys were nice enough and they do good work but I was very put off by their billing and costs. If you use them get a quote, track their time, and ask for receipts for parts and make sure they have everything they need before they start the job.

I had them fix a leaking pipe. They told me the issue, said they could fix it for a little over 600.00 and I paid them to do it. The next day the pipe was still leaking. They came back and said it was a different reason so it would be 300.00 more. Now, who gave who the reason? and who fixed the pipe? I’m not the one who said «fix this for 600.00» all I asked was for them to fix the pipe. They didn’t fix the pipe mind you. It was 2 years ago and it still leaks. I simply don’t have another chunk of money to find someone else to fix it yet.
