I had the rib tips meal with two sides green beans and cabbage with cornbread for lunch all of this for $ 7.99 it was so delicious! I’m usually leery of BBQ places. But I am so glad I went there excellent will definitely have again

I have been here a couple of years ago and the only thing I remember from the first visit is the peach cobbler. Tonight I got baked chicken, mashed potatoes and cabbage. The food was just ok. It is definitely a good alternative to a «home cooked» meal. It is not the best soul food I have had but I would return. The staff is also super friendly

Well I will start by saying that I came to this place with the hopes of having some solid soul food however this place failed in every way. First my order was taken wrong but my sister was understanding and we accepted the food anyway. We then got in the car and discovered her fries were not burned but tasted like old frier grease. You know the kind that makes a person want to throw up all over themselves. So I turned the car around and politely asked for my money back. First the lady told me that clover doesn’t give refunds however I am in the food service industry and have been a sous chef for 3 years and bartender for another two I am well qualified to tell you that your grease is old. I did not yell act a fool or do anything some might think this review warrants. Only asked for my money back and the person who she speaks to on the other end of the phone refuses to give me my money. Scamm! so take it from me someone who cooks GOODFOOD for a living. I wouldn’t give this food to my dog or let the people who run it sit at my table. Enjoy!!!

Ordered the salisbury steak, mac n cheese, collards, mixed veggies, black eye peas, yams, and peach cobbler. All were just average. Could have used more seasoning. The prices, as affordable as they were, would be the reason for my revisit. This may be a worthy option on nights that I don’t feel like cooking.

The first thing is excellent customer service for this restaurant. This is a huge thing with me especially when dealing with food and small businesses. Next, the food is good. I like that they don’t cook in pork or beef. A lot of soul food restaurants started to do this a few years ago but some started back. I like that they considered this with soul food. I haven’t had a bad meal from here and we have visited a number of times. I would suggest to call ahead if you don’t want to wait long though. Try the Friday Fish special, it always bring me back to childhood when we ate fish every Friday.

My husband and children ate here last night after driving around 78 looking for dinner. We were trying to decide between this place and Applebee’s which is right next door. After my husband went inside to look at a menu we decided to give it a try since it was black owned and the staff was very nice. I hate to write this review because I really wanted to love this place. The staff is so great! They even gave me a free side of yams because they ran out but it’s my duty to review with honesty… The little food we got was TERRIBLE! The mac and cheese tasted like it was Kraft mac and cheese from the box, the mashed potatoes tasted like paste, the string beans we’re too salty and swimming in water. The rice was tasteless and dry. My son got the kids chicken leg which I didn’t let him even eat because it was covered in grease and has absolutely no flavor. We actually got him chick fil A instead because we didn’t want him eating such awful food! The best was the small piece of cornbread and the kind staff. If you want great service go but if you want good soul food I suggest Kings on Redan Rd.

Ehh the food is decent, but definitely not the best as far as soul food is concerned. I stopped here on the way home from work to avoid having to cook. The people were very sweet and the location is conveniently right off of 78. There’s lots of parking. I had a salisbury steak plate with blaxk eyed peas and mav and cheese. I really enjoyed the steak and the black eyed peas were pretty good, but the mac and cheese was blah.

Whole lotta food for the price. Food was not bad. Service is great, friendly people and a good amount of food for your buck. Interior dining room is lacking in ambiance but if you dont mind simple dining then it wont bother you. Simple food, simple atmosphere.

The environment, while small, is nice, clean, and inviting. The staff was really nice and friendly. Pricing is fair, and in some cases, could be more. They had a $ 5 Friday fish special that came with fries, a really good sized sandwich the my husband said, «was really flakey and their breading is the way fried food should be. The seasoning was great and the portions were pretty good.» Our daughter had the Chicken Alfredo, and the sauce was amazing; thick, cheesy and with some bite. I had the Smothered Fried Chicken with Rice, which was super tender, and even the rice was well cooked and mixed well with the gravy. We also had Fried Green Tomatoes, that my daughter felt was slightly underdone. It would have been nice to see a few more unique dishes, but the menu is one based around simplistic home-made foods, but their food is far better than average. If you’re looking for good home cooking, you’ve got to try this place out! Oh, and their deserts are awesome too. Wish we lived in the area, because this would become a frequent place for us.

After hiking Stone Mountain and being angry that none of their restaurants opened until 12, we went off property and found this place. I was raised off of Mississippi and Louisiana cooking, and let me tell you, this place was incredible. The fried catfish was flavorful and delicious. Same with the fried okra. The yams were served sliced(not mashed as I’m accustomed to), but they were just as sweet, obviously cooked in brown sugar. Surprisingly, nothing was greasy, including the onion rings(a huge plate for $ 3). Also, to save the best for last: their cornbread was literally the best I’ve had in my life. It was sweet without being a corn cake. I could have eaten ten of the muffins and nothing else and left happy. Try it. You won’t be disappointed.

So I went by this place the week they opened(maybe 2 yrs back now). It was just OK. I gave it another try after someone mentioned it to me again as a place thats in regular rotation for them. I have to say they have improved. I’m currently in LOVE w/there Firday $ 5 Fried Fish sandwhich special. The people are down to earth & friendly. I would have to say if your in the Stone Mtn area don’t dismiss it, it’s worth a try!

We dined in. The seating is limited but we didn’t have to wait. I think that will change as the place grows in popularity. The menu choices were good. Meatloaf, pork chops and fried chicken or turkey etc. A good choice of appetizers and side vegetables too. The fried green tomatoes were excellent! I ordered the fried pork chops and it was excellent. I had collards and cabbage with cornbread. All of it was great. The service was good also. I see myself becoming a regular here.

Looking for a soul food place for a while. Its OK, but I don’t see myself going back even though its down the street from my house. Its really clean and the staff are really nice.

As soul food places go, this place has a more polished or upscale décor. It is very clean. The health inspection score was 91. The staff was friendly and efficient. They do have quite a few menu items that you dont typically find at soul food restaurants, such as pasta, sandwiches, and fried cheese sticks. Some of these items are made to order. They also sell domestic and import beer and wine, by the glass or bottle. As much as I wanted to really like this place, they lost one star because there menu items are a bit overpriced given the portions. I ordered the shrimp alfredo, which was very good. For 11.99, it had only 5 medium shrimp, with no garlic bread or salad. This is not a great value, in my opinion. The desserts must be pretty good. A woman came in just for chocolate cake. They didn’t have any chocolate cake that day. They«didn’t have time» to make it. There is nothing like having a taste for a certain food and find out that they are out for whatever reason. That cost them another star.

This place is just ok. I was excited to see a Soul Food restaurant that was convenient to where I live. I have to say I’m a little disappointed with this place but it’s definitely not the worse. The restaurant itself is really tidy and comfy. The staff are always friendly and it makes you want to return. As far as the food goes it’s just ok. It’s not mind blowing or something you would feel like you have to have. It’s just an alternative to getting what you really want. I’ve ordered the BBQ chicken and fried chicken and they were alright, just a bit over priced for the portions. They have fries which have a garlic kind of taste to them which are also alright. As far as sides go, the cabbage is delicious and so is the macaroni. The macaroni is their signature as nobody makes it the way they do. I enjoyed that and to be honest I feel like it’s their saving grace. The collards are a bit undercooked and the yams were tasty but left a bad after taste in my mouth. Oh and they have squash on the menu yet they never have it when you order it. The green beans are really delicious as well. The desserts: I’ve had the banana pudding and the peach cobbler and they were… ok. The banana pudding would be really good if they incorporated more vanilla wafers. I mean that makes the dish so very delightful. Their pudding tastes very boxed(I doubt it was homemade) and you can barely taste the wafers because they’re like little tiny crumbs. The peach cobbler is really good, I really don’t have any critiques for that. Again it’s not something I’d go running out the door for but I wouldn’t turn it down if it was offered to me. Another thing is when I’ve ordered veggie plates they never came with any bread or corn muffins. It’s just the sides and that’s it. Usually other restaurants will still give you a bread as it’s still considered a meal.
