Girls weekend ended with a bang. Some great fun at Jay’s with fab company, great food and the staff was top notch. We ordered 4 appetizers and I couldn’t decide which one was my favorite. The salmon was prepared perfectly and was delicious. I did try a little piece of the filet mignon and it melted in my mouth… all I can say across the board is YUM. Can’t wait to go back.

What an amazing dinner. I started with Octopus Portuguese style, WOW, wife had buratta, service was great, and entrees halibut thai style, out of this world, wifes Pad Thai was excellent. I would go back any day of the week. My only comment was it gets very loud when full.

ALWAYS being skeptical of Unilocal ratings I decided to take a chance on this one… Being a New Yorker and a discerned traveler as well as a tough audience I was so surprised with how incredibly great that this restaurant was If anyone rates this under a 5 star they really have no clue of what fine dining is. those people would probably rate Daniel’s and Jon George as a 1 star

IF you are looking for a great meal, perhaps for a special occasion, like being on vacation, check out J’s on Third in Stone Harbor. Best meal I’ve had in South Jersey, if you’re a foodie, put this on your list. Great staff, service was superb, I like seafood dishes & choose the scallops, wonderful flavor. It’s a BYOB, and if you didn’t bring any, there’s a retail wine store around the corner.

The food was delicious. With a party of five I got to sample almost the whole menu and everything was really tasty, can’t argue that. The only problem was that we sat down on time for our 8:30 reservation and our main course wasn’t served until 10:10. Not only did it take a really long time but the service was vary absent and provided no insight to the reason behind the long wait. Still had a fantastic meal with fantastic company but the service and timeliness could’ve been much better.

This is our go-to place for a nice dinner out every summer at Stone Harbor. Our recent meal was the best ever — scallops with corn risotto, encrusted extra-rare ahi tuna, and halibut with shrimp and scallops and coconut milk broth. Steve, our server, was very entertaining, patient, and knowledgeable, and the service overall was very attentive without being aggressive. Bring your own wine — there’s a nice selection at Fred’s Tavern on 96th Street.

Pricey and small restaurant but very good food. Also expensive — entrees are over $ 30. But the food was very good. I got the scallops, which were excellent — broiled with a bit of crispy brown and nicely firm and chewy. I scraped off the citrus foam, because that is not my thing. I also got the fingerling potatoes, which were excellent — flavorful, dense and crisp. Oh I forgot — gazpacho to start. Very good. A nice mélange of flavors and perfect summer soup. Mom got the bronzino, which is a fancy word for sea bass. She enjoyed it. Dominic gave us impeccable service. The whole staff was great, including hostess and bus boys. The dining room is very small so reservations are a must. Oh and it is BYOB.

I don’t understand the hype with this place. I should have read more reviews. We were looking at the menu in the window and a couple walked in and said that this is the best restaurant in Stone Harbor. It also got very high review on Unilocal,so we decided to go for it. They were able to accommodate us even without a reservation and we got a nice table by the window. The menu sounded amazing and the ingredients seemed so inspired and creative. The service was nice and friendly. What fell short for us was the execution of the dishes. For example, ahi tuna tacos were good. The avocado cream sauce was amazing but only a few small dollops on the top so once you had a few bites, you were left with just tuna and taco shell, the Ortega box kind of hard taco shell. The portion was generous though but it got monotonous. It would have been nice if they had the sauce on the side so we could keep adding the sauce to the taco as we ate it. For dinner, we were looking forward to the halibut dish. Every restaurant we get halibut from is so amazing because the fish is just so good on its own. The dish sounded amazing with Thai influenced ingredients. However, what we got was a small pice of halibut, tiny cone shaped dried up jasmine rice and bland coconut broth with very little Thai flavor. There was no depth and complexity in the broth. Also, the food came out lukewarm, a big turn off. The broth should have been steaming as it came out. The dish had such a potential to be an amazing dish; it sounds so good on the menu. One reviewer wrote that this place is great if you are a vanilla type of an eater and I see what he means. If you have not been exposed to authentic Asian flavors, the Asian fusion dishes here would seem exotic and flavorful. They tried to make high end presentation but taste falls short, but price certainly doesn’t. Two apps and two entrees ran us around $ 135. We would have been able to include dessert for that price at a nice seafood restaurant in Manhattan. I may sound like a snob but if you eat out often in the city or any major metropolitan area, you’ll find that Jay’s on Third is not in the same caliber as most mid to high end seafood restaurants in the city. I don’t mind paying a lot for quality but $ 38 for a subpar halibut dish left a sour taste in our mouth. Oh and the tuna entrée! think it was around $ 34 or so. The tuna had so much tendon in it that I had to spit out or just swallow the chewy parts. Not what I expect for a tuna dish over $ 30. The mark up for mediocre dishes was so ridiculous, it is still upsetting when I think about it 2 weeks later. Lesson learned– when choosing a restaurant in touristy places with little competition, it’s better to avoid expensive restaurants. Spend little and regret little.

One of the best meals we’ve had at the beach! The service and food were excellent! We had the«Toast»… mushroom appetizer, which was amazing; the Ahi Tacos were great and the Baby Beets were also tasty! I had the Branzino entrée which was amazing! Unfortunately, I can’t remember what everyone had but no one left unhappy! Fun night, we can’t wait to return!

Last night we had a great dining experience at Jay’s on third. I do not give 5 stars easily, but I couldn’t find anything to knock it down. Here’s what I liked. Linen table cloths, byob. but if you didn’t remember, make a quick call to Fred’s and they will deliver(no charge). Food was interesting and very well prepared and presented. Just a word about Patrick, our waiter. He is a recent college graduate, but loves the restaurant business. He hopes to work in a Philly upscale gig. He is very polite, attends to everything and is knowledgeable. Any restaurant would be lucky to have such a great waiter. Jay’s was a bit pricey, but at Stone Harbor, what isn’t.

My calamari appetizer was perfectly cooked and my Pad Thai was delicious especially with the fresh lime. My Sister had the Coconut Shrimp app which was equally delicious. We originally were going to get two tables so we could have the earlier reservation but Jay’s staff stepped up and accommodated us. The staff was very attentive and could not have been nicer to my family throughout the entire meal. Almost everyone had something different and not one compliant. Thank You Merrie and team for the excellent service. I am glad I took my old friend Cindy’s recommendation and will definitely be back.

I felt like the service was great and so were our apps. In fact, everything was awesome until our dinners arrived. My wife had the Halibut and I had the Crispy Skin Bronzino. They made the skin crispy, the problem was that they didn’t stop cooking the little filets, after the skin got crisp. It came out really dry and disappointing. The Halibut was over cooked and dry too. I get that it was a busy Saturday night but, My humble feeling is that every plate coming out of your kitchen needs to get the same amount of love; busy or, slow. Again, the staff was really nice and the apps were also perfect. We had the grilled octopus and Crab Gaspacho. Try it, I do believe restaurants should get extra chances and I’m just sharing my experience.

Top notch service and very good food. Octopus appetizer was the highlight of the meal, but the salmon and halibut mains were quite good as well. Highly recommended from two foodies from out of town.

Simply Put, I love each Experience I have at Jay’s. On occasion I get to share this Little Jem, with a client. I so love it when they say that they have enjoyed their meal. they feel as if they just went to heaven. The dining room is Cozy and inviting. The service is always professional and courteous. Again last night I had a most amazing meal. Great presentation and the freshness of their menu items are unsurpassed, by any other restaurant, I’ve dined at this season. I will continue to bring clients and friends here, as I try everything they have on the menu, at least twice. IF you are visiting the Jersey Shore, Stone Harbor in particular Jay’s on 3rd, and BYOB is a combination that just doesn’t get better.

Jay’s on Third knows how to really serve a sensational dinner. From the moment you walk through their doors you feel welcomed and you know you’re in for a treat. The atmosphere is light hearted and romantic; no need for a suit and tie, even though you would get fancied up to have this food if you had to. To start, my boyfriend and I enjoyed an appetizer special, the fried risotto and chorizo balls, that were very light and crispy. For our entrees we had the chilean sea bass, and the rib eye that was on special both were absolute perfection. Everything was cooked on point, and wasn’t even missing a grain of salt. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone whose simply looking for a delicious dinner out. You will not be disappointed!

I went to Jay’s on 3rd from someone’s recommendation. This a BYOB so bring your own wine. We were greeted by Ryan our waiter(ask for him if you can). I was in the seafood business before so I know great quality when I see it. The Octopus was just over the top. We just couldn’t stop talking about it. We also had the Jersey tomato’s with a special creamy cheese. I had the John Dory and it was just the best. I asked the chef for something special and it was. My friend had the scallops and we were trying to guess how many we would get this time. The night before at another place I only got 3. For the same price they served 5 scallops. We were so impressed that we are going back again tonight for dinner. Thanks again Ryan for the great service.

I went here with my boyfriend’s family; we were a party of nine, in total. This restaurant is one of the more elegant places in close proximity to their vacation suite. The evening ambiance was very pleasant. The BYOB aspect was also a nice touch. We were immediately given ice buckets for our white wine. The servers were professional, but not super friendly. Still, I must say, the food was divine. I ordered Bay Scallops & Mushroom Risotto. The presentation and taste were both spectacular. My only complaint, a large one, is that our food was brought out very sporadically. Some people were eating their meals before others had even been given their appetizers. In addition, one of the«late» dishes was partially uncooked – the chef was clearly trying to rush. Overall, the food was great but I would not bring someone here if I was trying to impress them.

What a fantastic find, right in the heart of stone harbor. We love a good BYOB and this one took the cake. We had a reservation 4th of July weekend and couldn’t be happier. For an appetizer, the calamari was amazing. The NY strip steak and scallops were just as amazing. And dessert didn’t disappoint either. Service was great and prompt. We’ll definitely be making another stop here this summer!
