Portofino Pizza Cafe

Did this place close down, because if they did they deserved it! They treated their staff like crap and their food was consistently inconsistent! Yes, they had some good pizzas, albeit, of the fancy kind. The pesto pizza with pinenuts was good, but, they were cheap beyond cheap! A garden salad, which consisted of iceberg lettuce, stale store bought croutons (my guess is the Marie Callendar’s kind) and bottled Kraft italian dressing was way too expensive for such a cheaply made salad. And god forbid you ask to add onion on it! For a sprinkling of less than a tablespoon of red onion they would charge you an extra $ 1.50!!! They were slowly going down hill as the years wore on, constantly filthy inside, and they took forever to bring you your check. They also HATED when you wanted the big table in the corner for your group of 6 or more. I was so fed up with them, I stopped eating there 2 years ago. It was with a little delight when I drove by yesterday and saw that they were closed and boarded up. Sorry to be so cruel, but what comes around goes around. ;)

I love thin crust pizza and Portofino makes the best thin crust pizza around. I agree that the service is not very good but I’ve yet to have horrible service. My favorite pizza is the bianca (white pesto sauce, mozzarella, pine nuts, fresh garlic, and parmigiano). It’s the best. I also really like the spicy thai chicken pizza, BBQ chicken pizza, & pesto pizza. The calzones and sandwiches are fine but I come here for the pizza!

Garlic cheesesticks were okay, nothing special. Four cheese pizza was really good though, and the thin crust was baked just right. Looking around, the salads looked filling and ditto for the calzones. Yay for serving Barq’s. OCD waitress who repeatedly refilled our drinks at 85%, then took forever for the check.

I’m surprised by the reviews of the last two Unilocalers.
I’ve been to Portofino Pizza Café twice and both times it was tasty and the service was great. I really like the calzones here, they also have a good selection of salads. Portofino is a perfect place to go on a date, it’s small, not too loud, and not super expensive (oh, and the food is good!).

This place sucks! I don’t even want to waste my words on this place, but I must so others will be warned about the complete disrespect the owners and staff have for «certain customers.» This place makes ok pizza, but it is like the bastard child to real pizza places like Michael’s and David’s.
Do not eat here unless you want to be treated like second class citizens. Like Maian, I give this place ZERO stars and wish it left town to Hickville where they can get away with treating people like they do.

ZERO STARS for Portofino. I would rather have Dominoes delivery than ever give this place my patronage or recommendation.
I have never had such poor service at a restaurant, ever. And to make matters worse, after I swore off this place my parents went and were treated in a way that is absolutely astonishing. I won’t even go into the details except to say, after complaints to management were made treatment did not improve, but worsened. They wrote my parents off as insignificant patrons, so I consider this place a terrible place to eat, even though I think the pizza here is good. I think it’s the only place that does thin crust well in Stockton, but please, someone prove me wrong, because until then I will be enjoying Michaels or David’s pizza where they treat me and my family right.

Very very good restaurant. I love the thin crust pizzas and yummy salads.
Lot’s of skeptical Stocktonians doubted this little gem when it opened. And look at it now… still open!
