When it comes to churches the two things I look for the most are passion and«realness». The rest of it is window dressing, imo. Lakeview has alot I could critique in terms of the presentation and campus but the heart of it is the heart and they have it. The music is done well, not overdone like so many places. Visually it’s done nicely and the youngish pastor is a good speaker who speaks to real life and not over your head or out of touch with reality for the most part. The vibe is youngish and congregation is def multi-cultural. They have a good children’s ministry and their mid-week stuff looks fairly interesting. My son enjoys the teen group and enjoyed the summer camp as well. A big part of their heart is their strong emphasis on helping the less fortunate of the city… something near and dear to my heart. The pastor has only been there a couple of years so I’m sure the window dressing will improve over time as he pulls the church into the hip here and now. I don’t plan to be a member of LV although I will most likely visit LV with my family somewhat regularly. If they would work a little harder on the details I think LV could easily outpace the impressive growth they’ve been experiencing the last couple years with the new pastor to become one of the best churches of its kind in the area. I give them a strong one thumb up. If you’re a Gen X or younger and looking for a place to land and want to get involved then LV is prob a good option for you.
