Went here for a late lunch yesterday. Food was great, and hot. I went to SH area for 2 years straight some time ago and never went to Coney Island restaurant. I just had visions of «dolled up» hot dogs. I order what I believe was called the«Big O» hamburger(looks like it’s the«Big Boy» on the menu on the pictures here) it is a hamburger with a fried egg and corned beef. It had just the right amount is corned beef for you to taste it without overwhelming the sandwich. I’ll definitely go again.

Just finished having breakfast here(9÷21÷14 at 11:30am) and my last two visits have considerably been a bad experience. I updated my original review from excellent to 2 star. This place USETO «cook to order» bacon, sausage and ham. This means it was cooked when you ordered your breakfast. My last two visits had dry meats. Today I was informed that they cook their meats in the morning which is why it has no taste and looks like dehydrated cardboard. Horrible!!! It hard to comprehend anyone would serve this to customers let alone still call it bacon! I have also noticed there are less customers on Sunday and when I drive by the place which is daily. I use to recommend Nu J’s to everyone but won’t anymore. I don’t see this place staying in business much longer and wouldn’t doubt they precook everything else on the menu. I am sure their lack of customers is due to the shortcuts in making precooked foods. It use to be a good place… I am now switching back to Phoenix Coney Island on Van Dyke and Drakes on Mound where both places have always cooked to order. Nu J’s has changed and I won’t be back! Goodbye Nu J’s!

There’s a new Coney Island place in the market. This restaurant was a surprise as it just replaced a Tubby’s Submarines. The surprise is pleasant. They removed the tall tables and bench and added some booths. They shortened down the counter so you can watch them cooking your meal. Now for the food. Since they are calling themselves a Coney Island Restaurant I had to try the coneys. Very good!!! The coney sauce tasted familiar. It had the nice«runny» consistency, mustard, light onions, They were perfect. I added fries. Very good. My first two visits were exactly the same. Good food, great service, great prices. My coworker and I agree, this is going to be a frequent lunch stop as we have gone here three times already. This looks like a family owned business as I think I saw mother, son(coooking), and daughers(waitresses). With the big three, good food, service and prices I hope this place makes it. They have a good start as on our third trip it was pretty crowded. Note to self: Try a submarine as they replaced my favorite sub shop.
