Enterprise Rent-A-Car

I’ve been an Enterprise customer for at least 10 years and have rented cars from locations all over the US, though I’m based out of DC. Yesterday I was running late to return a car to this Staunton location due to my long commute for the day: DC traffic for over an hour and horrible rain/​fog conditions along the entire trip. I called this location shortly before closing time to see if someone could wait for me since I would only be within a few minutes of closing time. Shavon was incredibly kind and helpful. She waited the few extra minutes, was pleasant and accommodating, and even dropped me off at my Staunton home/​office afterwards. In all of my years of renting vehicles, I have never received such genuinely selfless customer service from anyone at any Enterprise location. I will definitely be renting from this location again in the near future and I’m both thankful as well as impressed by Shavon and her customer service.

Enterprise Rent-​A-​Car only survives because it is the only game in town. Avoid them at all costs.
For example:
Today I went to pick up a reserved car and GPS unit. Upon arrival for pick-​up I was told they had neither available. (!) They suggested I wait for a car from Waynesboro to be delivered and then I could drive to Waynesboro to get a GPS unit on my way to D.C., even if this delay already made me 45 minutes late.
Last time I rented from them there was a blizzard that shut down D.C. traffic. I was forced to stay in a hotel because the interstate was partially closed. I called in advance to explain the situation and they said they wouldn’t charge me an extra day. When I returned the car the next day they did charge me for a full day and refused to refund it (despite the blizzard!).
Seriously, I don’t know how they stay in business except that they are the only option. I will never rent from them again.
Borrow a car from a friend instead.
