Top Tomato

I had top tomato cater my baby shower on may 14, 2016 i ordered the mac n cheese, spicy salmon, jack Daniel’s chicken, regular chicken, penne ala vodka, pepper steak, lasagna. Roasted potatoes, fruit platter, a six foot sandwich i had over 50 guest there was enough food for everyone to take a plate home the food came they set up it was beyond delicious rave reviews from every guest thank you so much i will be ordering again

I spend over $ 100 a week plus do about to caterings a year one day in their parking lot they damaged my car the manager comes out told me to get an estimate next day he spending money to put signs in the parking lot I get the estimate it’s $ 100 to take out the dent they want to give me a hard time to pay it

Dont go to this establishment. I have been a customer since they opened. I bought a package of chicken patties, went home and cooked them only to discover a 2 inch long bolt was in one of the patties (thank goodness I noticed it before I ate it). I immediately went back to the store and asked the guys in the buthcher area to speak with a manager, the 7 guys back there all looked at me like they had no clue what that meant. So I went over to the deli and again asked to speak to a manager 1 guy ignored me totally and the other guy looked at me like I just asked him to explain the theory or relativity. So then I went over to the guy who is always there taking care or the fruits and vegetables. I said are you the manager now, he says yeah. So I show him the patty with the bolt in it with the packaging and say I just want you to know this is what you are selling in your chicken patties. He doesn’t say a word but tries to pull the bolt out of the patty. Not one hint of apology or trace of customer service. He didnt even go check the patties that were still put to see if they were ok or check the back. I will never go to this or any other Top Tomato ever and have and will continue to tell anyone I know to never go to one of their stores. The only reason I am giving 1 star is because they won’t let me give zero.

This is your typical neighborhood grocery store, what’s not to like. They have a reasonable selection, the hours are convenient, and they make some pretty tasty things in-​store.

Terrible customer service from cashier and manager. Both very rude and nasty.
Cashier cursed at me saying F*** Y** in front of manager and manager did not reprimand her. I will never shop there again and suggest others not to do business with this Bay Street establishment. NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY.

I love getting my cold cuts here, always fresh & the deli guys are always nice an cut my meat perfectly. Seafood area is okay, I haven’t had much of a problem their. The meat area is always clean kind of too clean bc it always smells like cleaning products in that section. Once I had a issue with my pack of cutlets, I opened the pack an it smelled so bad like rotten fish. It stunk my whole house up. The lines to pay are ridiculous, their is 7 registers an only 1 open plus the news stand, the wait is forever to pay, never enough cashiers it’s not cool when your running a supermarket an there’s only 2 cashiers open. I’m thinking they can afford more help since there prices are pretty high. I usually come here for a quick few things. Never a whole cart of things. Staff is friendly an always chatty which is okay but not when there’s a line of ppl waiting to get home to start dinner. Anyhow the parking lot is pretty big lol.

Love the supermarket, hate the seafood. The shrimp is usually a bit tough, but it wasn’t too bad. I bought lobster tails when they were on sale and I got food poisoning… I stayed away from the lobster after that. Today I got sea scallops and they had a terrible metallic taste. I spat it right out. I’m done with their seafood. Such a shame.

This review pertains specifically to the fish market within Top Tomato. Today is the 3^rd time they have sold me rotten fish. Today I purchased 2 salmon pinwheels at 5.99 each. As soon as I got in the car my son said «what’s that smell «. I get all the way home to realize it’s the salmon. I open it, it’s clearly bad, the smell is horrible. All the way back and Franciso, who sold me the fish, is smerking and tells me «well it comes frozen». I’m glad another employee was there and pointed out something «fresh» and I swapped it. Be very careful here. Never again for me.

Top Tomato is a family-​owned mini chain of grocery stores (I think they have 6 locations). This one is the closest to my house.
As far as regular grocery items, their prices don’t beat the bigger chains such as Shop-​Rite, but they often have excellent prices on fresh produce, and their selection of fresh meat and Italian specialties is not to be beat. We cooked up a hanger steak from Top Tomato last night… mmmm, so good!
They also (a little oddly, for an Italian place, but I’m not complaining!) often have good deals on Russian beers.
I don’t usually do my main grocery shopping here, but it’s a great place to pick up something special, or to get a few things you need.
