came in to buy a starter bike. was treated like i dont have money. salesman was disinterested and pretentious. took a bike out and threw it my way and said this is the cheapest we have. i said is there anything comparable and he said not really. thinking about going back because i saw a bike i really like, hopefully i can update my review after this.

Store owner told me my bike was not put in together correctly, he told me to pay him $ 50 and to leave my bike for few hours to wait for it to be fixed. I went to another bike store on Bay Street. And they only spent less than 30 mins while I was paying the same price $ 50.

I needed to buy an inner tube for my old bike. Since I have not ridden my bike for many years and not knowing any bike shops around I instinctively thought of going to the big stores. First I went to Dicks. To my astonishment, they don’t have a bike department. Then I went to Target and to my disappointment, they have a small corner with a very small and messy display with very few items and of course, they did not have the size of the tube I needed. After that I went to Sears where I found out that they sell bikes but not parts. With no more options left I googled a search, on my cell, for bike shops and among other results I decided to go to «The bike shop», which was, both, the highest rated and the nearest one to my home. To my pleasant surprise I walked into a small and charming shop. I was immediately greeted by a very friendly smile and a very knowledgeable sales person who got me what I needed and I was out of the store in minutes. This was a very pleasant experience and a reminder of old type mamma and papa stores where the sales stuff is knowledgeable and friendly. I will certainly go back to this store.

Great place. I came here last year on my birthday to buy a new bike, and I found the perfect one for sale in the front. They have name brand bikes and great quality ones. The staff was nice to me and they helped me out with my questions and they helped me find what I wanted in a bike. It’s a great place, and I would suggest people get their bikes from here rather than mass retail stores.

This shop really takes care of it’s customers, if you purchase a bike at this shop they will take care of you and your bike like family and will always make room for you. I deal with many different stores of all kinds but this mom and pop shop is real«old school», when you buy something there you become part of the family. I cant praise this place enough. Don’t walk to the bike shop, RIDE there, very fast, you’ll be glad you did.

After reading a review on Unilocal,I decided to give this place a try. It’s not the closest bike shop to me, but I was so impressed by the review I read(and so terrified by the review of the store much closer to me) that I decided to come here. I was not disappointed at all. Despite the long drive, it was worth it. They were so nice and greeted me at door. They asked me what I needed done, and after helping me straighten my handlebars, adjust my brakes, and put air in my tires, they only charged me $ 5. What a deal. I will definitely come back here for any adjustments. I didn’t see many road bikes there, but I did see a lot of mountain bikes. They do have a lot of bike accessories. Overall it’s a wonderful shop.

I’ve only been to a handful of bike shops but the Bike Shop on Hylan Blvd(between Wiman and Nelson avenues) has made an impression on me. It’s one of only two bike shops on Staten Island so you would think it would be somewhat on the larger side… but it’s actually quite small. From what I’ve seen, they don’t carry too many road or racing bikes. It looks to me like they specialize in BMX bikes. There’s also a wall of accessories but I didn’t examine it too closely so I don’t know what all they carry. The two times I’ve been to the Bike Shop were just for repairs. Last year, I brought my bike in for a tune-up right after purchasing it(off a guy in Stony Point through craigslist). The guy who helped me that time didn’t seem like the brightest bulb in the box but I didn’t hold it against him. If memory serves me correctly(and it may not), my bike was ready by the end of the day(but I didn’t pick it up for 2 days). I ended up paying $ 30 for their services. Then, today, I came in because I had a broken spoke that needed attention. When I brought my bike in, I was happy to see a different clerk. He ended up being much more attentive and enthusiastic. I asked him to fix my spoke and just give the bike a once-over, make sure everything’s OK. He said it wouldn’t be a problem and the bike would be ready by the next day at the latest. Well, imagine my surprise when he called about two hours later to tell me I could come pick up my beloved bicycle! This time, I paid $ 20. Like I said earlier, I can’t speak of their bicycle or even accessory selection but I know that they do great(and cheap!) tune-ups! Depending on who’s staffing the shop when you arrive, you may get great service or you may get mediocre service. Either way, the employees don’t talk down at you(making you feel about 2 inches tall)… and that’s always a plus in my book. Sign on the door says they’re closed on Wednesdays, so plan your trip to the Bike Shop accordingly.
