I order 2 chorizo tacos everytime, they are so savory and complimented perfectly by the spicy Verde sauce. I ask for a coffee cup of the Verde sauce to take home for only an extra 3 bucks so I can use it at my leisure in omelettes, or with other dishes. Wait time is averaging 15 – 20 minutes to sit and get order served which is why there is a loss of one star. It could just so happen that I go at the time of a huge delivery order however the person sitting in the restaurant should have priority, imho. I eat here at least every other day and tip every time. Quesadillas are good also, however the Spanish white cheese they use must be eaten while hot otherwise it goes from gooey to chewy and you don’t want luke warm cheese sitting at the bottom of your intestine. Think about it. All in all, if you want it quick, call ahead. The tortillas are soft and warm and the filling of meat is generous. Staff is kind, wait time depends on delivery rush.

Delicious food and great service at a great price. Had the chicken quesadilla and it was yummo.

It’s a nice place with bright wall colors. We only had about 15 minutes to eat, so this place was perfect. We got our food pretty fast and service was good. Plenty of seating. For drinks, they had a fridge full of goodies. I got the piña colada and the Jarritos Lime drinks. 1. Tacos: I tried three different types, the taco azeca, carne enchilada, and the choritzo. All were decent, but I felt that overall, all the meats were pretty dry, especially the azeca. 2. Spicy pork quesadilla: This was better than the tacos, although again, I wish the meat were slightly juicier. Good size. Price is moderate.

The boyfriend hasn’t given a Mexican restaurant such a good rating since we left California. Really big portions of tasty, authentic food.

LOVELOVELOVETHISPLACE! Tacos are cheap, delicious, tamales are to die for. small take out place, or you can eat in. Only down side is no bathroom and hard to park.

I’ve definitely had better. Granted I only had two chicken taco’s but the chicken was dry(over cooked) and bland. Even with the added fresh lime juice and spicy Verde sauce, it still lacked flavor. I won’t completely write off the place, I’d go back and try something else but for now, totally not impressed.

Probably my favorite taco spot. Everyone who works there is so friendly and everything I’ve ever gotten has been fantastic. The al pastor is my favorite I’ve ever had. My hubz loves the tongue and steak too. And the chicken is so tasty and juicy. The food is always consistent and always great.

Seriously SO delicious!!! My boyfriend and I both got chicken tacos and they were so fantastic that he went and ordered a spicy pork taco just to try it. Said it was the best taco he’s ever had in his life! We are already planning when we’re going back!

Based on food quality alone, I would give them four stars, it’s savory, made it the right amount of oil, and the portion sizes are decent. I had the Azteca taco and the quesadilla. The service was kinda slow though, and I had to try hard just to get their attention for my order when not much was going one,

I’m a born and raised Queens girl, so you know I’ve had my share of authentic Mexican tacos. I got to say, this place is pretty up there! Street parking though sucks and the wait was pretty long.

To be honest, they were not very flexible when I asked them not to add cheese on my order. They said there were no substitutions but hey, just don’t put cheese in my order, ok? It’s not like I’m not gonna pay you. They offer quite the variety in tacos, including cesina, which is some kind of red pork meat(tastes delicious) the prices are affordable, but I wouldn’t bring a date here. It’s more suitable if you feel like taking out or eating in. There are Mexican drinks too, like the sugar cane Coca-Cola. They also offer other Mexican specialties like huaraches and tortas. They got good taste, just the small detail that they didn’t want to please my desires. Budget: $ 5-$ 20 dollars depending on what you’re ordering.

The service is fast… Relatively, since the place is always packed. The staff is always polite and helpful and can accommodate request for little changes to the menu. They recently did a face lift to the place. It looks nicer and very clean. Definitely a cool place to grab a quick and authentic taste during lunch or dinner.

Man I love this little place. Cash only but totally worth stopping off at the atm(they have one there but both times I tried to use it, it didn’t work). My husband likes the choritzo tacos and the azetca taco which is steak and cactus. I love the chicken and spicy meat. Minimal English spoken here but the place is clean and staff are super nice. They have four or five tables plus counter seating. You order at the counter and then get up to get your food when its done. This place is so good I almost don’t want to tell people about it!

Local spot for authentic mexican cuisine. Food was cheap compared to the city prices and the flavors was amazing. Just a 10 min walk from the ferry. Get the green sauce, added so much to the dish.

I had to try this place out after reading all the great reviews and I’m so glad I did! I got a few different tacos because I’m super indecisive and my eyes were bigger than my stomach. My faves were the chicken and the spicy pork, the green sauce is great but has some kick. I’ll definitely be coming back.

…Did you know that 2 of 10 best taquerias in NYC located in Staten Island? No? Well, now you do. This is one of them. Da Best. No joke. .You think you know tacos since you been eating them in fancy newly open city places? Nope, think again. This is THE place for real thing. Once you try it, you will know I speak the truth(but you already know I always know what I am talking about, right?) First things first — it’s not that far from the ferry for all you travelers. For locals — parking on Victory is muni-metered and pretty easy. This place been here forever. It is not glamorous by any means — it is spacious, clean, and most importantly — they know their food. Don’t expect to find menu in English — but do not panic if you don’t know how to say a single word in spanish(like yours truly) — they do speak English well. If you need help with translation of menu, look at paper menu or Unilocal pictures. Now, to the Tacos. They are ridiculously good. Steak, Tongue, Pork, Chicken, or their specialty — Taco Azteca, with steak, cactus & onions. Each served with lime & extra hot sauce, each is freshly prepared right there on a grill. If tacos are not your thing, there are tortas, quesadillas, enchiladas and other specialties available. But seriously, get tacos. You can thank me later.

This is as authentic as you can get. Alright the ambiance is not up to par, but are you here for that or the food. The food is fresh and delicious. Got the bistec taco with verde sauce, it was delicious… like I was in Mexico. It comes with the grilled onions and fresh radish. Oh yeah watch out for the green sauce, it’s got a kick to it. Oh yeah, importantly it’s cheap but your getting quality food. Just wished they had horchata…

I don’t go throwing out 5s often, but Taco Azteca, you’ve earned it. First and foremost, you need to understand that Taco Azteca is the definition of «hole in the wall» for most. We looked up Mexican restaurants and trusted our fellow Unilocalers advice. When you walk into the joint, there are a handful of tables along the way. Nothing fancy, but there is room to sit. You are instantly faced with the chefs and the open grill. The front man, or so I will call him, was WONDERFUL. He greeted us, offered us and menu and told us to ask him if we had any questions. Well, heck yea, we did. What is all this cactus talk? We’ve never had cactus before, and like a true front of the house man, he made us a plate of cactus to try. It was delicious! We order two tacos each; 2 steak and cactus, 1 chicken and cactus, and 1 spicy meat with cactus. Naturally, as I’m trying to put on weight, I also ordered a chicken quesadilla. The tacos and burrito were accompanied by a red and green sauce which were both jam packed the perfect match for our food. The tacos quite tasty. They were filled until they overflowed(soft tortillas only) and the cactus combined with any protein is truly a match made in heaven. The chicken quesadilla was good, but a bit boring, chicken and cheese only. Man, I wish I got it with cactus! If you’re looking for a relaxing, come as you are place to get home cooked mexican staples, this is the place for you. For the price, you simply can’t beat the flavor of the dishes. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely make it point to come back.
