I came here for the first time on a Friday at 7:30 to check it out before meeting up with friends for dinner. It was just opening up. The owner, Stu, really cares about his business and that the patrons have a great experience. They have a wine machine that keeps the wine at the perfect drinking temperature. They have many chardonnay options. I was even surprised to find they have an unoaked chardonnay. Their food menu looked tasty, but since we had dinner plans we didn’t eat. Staten Island needs places for the 30 something crowd like this. I look forward to return later at night to try their food. It’s a great spot for 30 somethings that are looking for a girls night or a date night.

Great wine, nice décor. It’s too bad(judging by the reviews) that so many people do not know a good thing when they see it. Hopefully the place gets it wings and flies high.

I stopped in for a glass of wine with my husband last Saturday night after dinner and was greeted by one of the owners right away. He offered us a seat at the bar or a table but since we weren’t eating, we decided to sit at the bar. This was my first time coming here but my husband came here a few times when it was Rhythm & Brews. After we recently watched Spike TV’s «Bar Rescue,» we were curious to see what the place was like. The bar has a modern look with a lot of warm, neutral tones and it’s big, plenty of space to sit. I thought the wine selection was good, priced well, and the drinks tasted good too. After, I had my first glass of Pinot, I wanted something different so I asked for an Angry Orchard Apple Cider. They had it in a bottle, which is fine, but I love it on tap. I thought they could have had a wider selection of tap beers even though it’s a wine bar. I noticed many customers were drinking beer too. In total, they offered about 5 or 6 kinds of draft beer. I later found out they have Red Sangria — maybe I’ll try that next time. We spoke with two of the owners, who more than once, came over to ask if we had a good time and if we needed anything. We went on a Saturday night, and they had a DJ and karaōke. Although no one in the bar seemed to be interested in singing except for us, it was still nice that they had it. Maybe they will get more of a karaōke crowd on Saturday nights in the future. I would like to mention during my second visit recently, it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke in the bar. I was surprised because it didn’t the first time I stopped by. I’m not sure if someone was smoking in the back or in the men’s bathroom but either way, it isn’t something I want to smell. Originally, I had mentioned that the bathrooms needed some work but when I stopped by for a second visit, they were very clean and newly renovated.

I haven’t been there recently, but this is a very dangerous venue. It is overrun by bikers who grab ass and snatch beers at will. Even the staff cowers in fear. Go with friends and be ready for a throw down or a quick, getaway. Cheap beer, though!

You would think after reaching out to Bar Rescue they would clean up there act. I went for the first time the other week since its«renovation». I’m not a clean freak but come on with the men’s bathroom. Both urinals have garbage bags over them and there’s only one toilet stall(that’s missing a door). So if your in the men’s bathroom everyone gets a free show. I was disgusted by the fact that I ordered a picture of beer and there was tomato sauce it looked like inside of it. I gave it back to the bartender expecting a new one. She went in the back and wiped it with a towel. Really? First and last time they will have my business.

We stopped in for a quick drink before dinner as we were eating nearby and had seen the Bar Rescue episode so figured it was worth checking out. The bar itself is nice, good wine selection, interior has been nicely redone(I had never been in the former iteration but say from the show and the reputation) and it seems clean. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our wines by the glass, as we talked with Stu, one of the owners, who is featured on the show — he was chatty, welcoming and funny. Being there from around 730 to 830 on a Saturday night, it doesn’t bode terribly well that there were very very few other patrons there, but this place really does fit into a gaping hole in the SI drinking scene. There seem to be dives and greasy pickup spots, with very little in between. Fifth and Vine is just that — a place I can have a glass of wine or two with my husband after work or before a local Saturday night dinner, and a place I could hang and catch up with some girlfriends without blaring music, dirty old men, or a cheesy scene. I’d like to bring friends back and I’d like to see business pick up; Fifth and Vine deserves to survive and thrive here.

has anyone gone here lately? I think they’re closed. I called them before driving there last night and an answering machine picked up(around 7pm) the message doesn’t say«you’ve reached 5th and Vine…» it’s just a girl saying they aren’t there to take the call. A friend drove by after that and said lights were out and it looked closed…

Went there only because I watched bar rescue. A very pleasant atmosphere. If you think the bar rescue sub plot about bikers was fake. Click on FUNNY on this review. I want to see if you all agree with me. I was visiting NY. I live in Toronto. I walked Staten Island and never seen a biker in 4 hours. Back to the restaurant. The reciepes are very simple. No brainers to make. The presentation is proper. The wine was absolutely at a perfect temperature. Prices are right. I recommend anyone to go there and get there moneys worth. I would definitely go back. Thank you very much.

Finally stopped in here after seeing their episode of Bar Rescue. The update looks great, I especially like the lighting fixtures over the bar area. We had the pleasure of meeting Stu at the bar. I wasn’t sure what kind of wine I felt like and He made a great recommendation. The crowd was a bit of a mixed bunch and the place started filling up as we were leaving. There was also karaōke, which would be fun to come back and see. I hope they find success, this place has a lot of potential.

I had a great evening at 5th& Vine last night. My wife and I were curious to see the Bar Rescue makeover and I am glad we stopped in. Stu, the owner, was behind the bar and was great and suggesting a wine to try. He also spent some time talking with us about the new concept and what doing the show was like. As the night went on, the place got more crowded, but nothing like the rowdy bikers they depicted on the show. Everyone was friendly and well mannered. They had a DJ who was playing a nice mix of music, and it was nice to be in a bar were you could relax and have a conversation without shouting. We didn’t try any of the food as we arrived right after a late dinner. I hope 5th& Vine does well, and Im sure I’ll be back some time soon.

Was very disappointed within seconds of walking in. The bar was filled with empty glasses as well as seats. They finally cleaned off the bar when we refused to sit there and sat down at the table. There were no menus to order from at the table or the bar. When we finally got service the bartender had to go in the back to get menus. The music was obnoxiously loud, the lights were very bright, this may have had all the characteristics of a wine bar, but was far from one.(including the very limited wine menu). I’m not one to complain about an establishment but one ran as careless as this doesn’t seem to have a bright future. Hope they can clean there act up and realize the potential that lies right in front of them!

This place is so dirty run down. Even after that show the place is still dirty. One owner who acts more like a bouncer and hits on every girl that walks by just hangs out outside instead of tending to the place. They smoke in the building and don’t follow simple food health codes. Don’t waste your time. The bartender didn’t even check my id. Isn’t all that against the law?

No one greeted us as we walked in and the first thing the owner asks us was«you guys saw the show?». He wouldn’t stop talking about it, it was very awkward. The sliders were hockey pucks, you could smell the burnt ends with congealed cheese on top(menu said there would be 4. We received 3). We were given paper plates and no utensils. The owner told us after we ordered that he needs to run a credit card to hold the order to prevent theft? He said John Taffer told him to do that. I’ve never heard of that before. It’s very clear that no one cares in that place. We couldn’t wait to leave and finished our night at Liberty Tavern. The vodka bacon pizza was the silver lining. That was delicious

excellent wine selection and great food. The blonde bartender knows her stuff and the owners are friendly and go out of there way to make sure you are having a good time. Great atmosphere. Sometimes has bands which are awesome.

Good wine. Worst service I’ve ever had. We got ignored the whole time and it took an hour to get food(that was terrible) when there was only 4 tables.

Wine is good, service is alright. Waitress was great. Food is horrible. If you want a glass of wine and just hang out it’s cool. Eat before you come here because you will wait an hour for lunchable snacks !!!

I had been to the old venue– Rhythm and Brews– once or twice, and wasn’t a fan. No reason to elaborate there. The story in the Advance, re: Bar Rescue, made me want to check the new place out. What a beautiful transformation! Comfortable, modern décor. I don’t drink much booze, but I noticed the bar was well stocked with premium brands. The wines I selected were held at perfect temperature and fairly priced. I did not try the food yet, but they have a few simple selections that pair well with wine. Plenty of room in that open space. Staten Island is lacking a nice low key wine bar. I bet with a few ‘events’ like music paired with tasting they can really get themselves ‘out there’. Owner(I think) Stu, seems nice enough. I wish them much luck.
