This bar has now changed hands. Unfortunately, it is not worth darkening the door of anymore. Food is passable and beer selection is lame… It is a ghost of its former glory…

The first time I was not able to clean a plate of pita and hummus was at this place. The hummus is decent and had slices of cucumber and tomato plopped in it. The gyro meat, which is presented in small strips sliced from processed loaves that one can buy from the grocery store, was just bad. I asked if they just had lamb pieces to go with the hummus and the waitress looked at me like I wasn’t of this world. For redemption, I had an order of the pan-seared feta and it was quite good. Overall, this place has potential but the entrees are lacking. The menu seems to be a flux between legit Mediterranean food and Southern fare, which is almost a shame.

Went there for dinner/drinks. It was moderately loud, but it is a tavern so ya kind of expect it. I had the greek salad, which was different than I have ever had before. It was definitely an interesting twist to a solid greek mainstay, which was great! Different type of greek dressing, which was the main likeable point. I also had an Andygator beer with it. This beer was very crisp, and for it being advertised as dry, it wasn’t at all. It was full flavored with a very slight hint of fruit smell and aftertaste.

Appetizers and service was great. I wish I could say the same for our actual entrees. Overall. I could care less to return and eat at Zorbas.

Cheap prices on solid food, good beer, and quarter arcade games? Recipe for success. A few small complaints. They sometimes have advertised specials diplayed that aren’t really on special. The bathrooms are sometimes very unclean. Tip: Monday-Wednesday is $ 5 Euros, which is a really good deal.

One of the better places to eat in Starkville. For me gyros are usually gyros… they are all about the same. Greasy, guilty pleasures. The gyros here are better than average. Not too greasy, and topped with really fresh tasty vegetables and traditional Greek«Z» sauce. If you are in the mood for some less than healthy fare, try the greek nachos. They are to die for!!! These things give me serious cravings every once in a while…

I just tried the gyro and it was great! Little pricey but atmosphere was cool.

On a recent visit to Starkville, a couple of friends took me to this new(formally another name) restaurant in the old downtown area. Being a college town and the Bulldogs playing a tough SEC rival(Arkansas), I fully expected the place to be standing room only. To my surprise we were seated right away and an even bigger surprise was the average age of patrons. I wasn’t the old guy in the place, as expected. It was a nice business type crowd with the majority being from my generation. We started of with drinks(martini and cold(on special) beers) and an appetizer of greek-a dilla. We followed that up with orders of traditional gyro’s and gyro pizza. All of the food was well prepared, professionally presented, properly seasoned and delicious. The best part of the entire visit was the service. I can’t say enough good things about the efficient waitress that we were lucky enough to have serve our table. We honestly never wanted for anything and that’s saying something in a college town restaurant /bar. I recommend this place to anyone that is looking for quality Greek food /drinks and immaculate service!

Zorba’s was formally Barrister’s Tavern, located above Restaurant Tyler in downtown Starkville. The change to the atmosphere has been moderate, with now booth seating instead of bar tables and stools. However, almost all the old décor is still there but with the addition of «cheap» Greek themes — white string lights, fake ivy, blue and white paintings, etc. The food is nothing special, neither is the beer selection. Once again its almost the same as before except now they serve gyros and falafel instead of burgers and fries. It gets three stars because it is something different in town to try out. Having one less American food based establishment is nice since the town is practically populated by only that.
