I’ve been coming to this place since they opened back in the early 2000, the food is great the service can’t be beaten, if you want to try authentic Korean duck grilled on a very hot stone grill you have to come and try.

When my parents first brought me here, I gave them the«ugh. Duck!!! Quack?!» face… But oh boy, was I wrong! $ 25 per person can sound pretty pricey for a meal, but if you already spend that on KBBQ, this is better. What to order: Duck joomooluck– This is the chewy & juicy part of the duck meat that comes in bigger pieces. It takes a bit longer than other meat cause of its thickness, but I still think it’s the best. Duck rossgogi– This is the softer & thinner part of the duck meat that is easier to chew and swallow. Duck jjigae– if you want to try spicy soup filled with healthy duck meat pieces and vegetables, this is the way to go *when my parents & I come, we usually get 2 joomooluck, 1 rossgogi, and then 1 jjigae togo. How to eat: You will receive a flat bowl with dark brown sauce. Take a big pinch of the salad and let the lettuce sink in the sauce. Add some kimchi on the bottom slanted side of the pan and let it sizzle with the duck oil. When the meat is cooked(duck meat should be fully cooked), you grab a slice of the white radish, some of the marinated salad, a little bit of fried kimchi, and the duck meat! HEAVENINMYMOUTH When you think you are done and satisfied, this is when the best part comes in… The KIMCHIFRIEDRICE. They bring you a plate full of ingredients for the kimchi fried rice, and mix it in with some leftover side dishes on the table. The result? Look at some pictures. It’s AMAZEENG And wait, there’s more. They give you perfectly seasoned denjangjjigae on the side. It’s just spicy and sizzling enough. Then as a finale, when you are overwhelming with happiness and satisfaction, the bill comes. With is, they bring sikhye(rice drink) which puts a perfect ending to your meal. The fullness you feel isn’t the nasty bloated feeling, it’s the one that puts a smile on your face as you sign your check *try to go during the weekday night or during afternoon, or else the place is going to be packed and you might have to cook your own meat ;)

This is probably one of the best Korean duck BBQ you can find in OC. The building looked a bit old outside but it is very homey inside. I liked how the restaurant had more booths/rooms than open tables commonly found at Korean restaurants. This allows you to stuff your face without being self-conscious of your surrounding LOL Ordered unmarinated duck BBQ, smoke duck and beef brisket, which come with fried rice at the end. Unmarinated duck is just alright but with the salad, dipping sauce wrapped in the radish wrap ISAMAZING. Smoke duck was like bacon and probably more suited for first timers. Even though this is a duck BBQ place, I also ordered beef brisket and they were great as well. And of course, can’t forget the fried rice served at the end. If you are a KBBQ lover, you should give this place a try for the ultimate duck experience!

The last time I was here was probably 5+ years ago. This place is known for their duck BBQ. Back then, it was affordable and filling. Since then, it appears that the prices have skyrocketed(acknowledged by the waitress, saying that duck prices have risen 7 fold since then). For 1 small portion it was $ 24! Insanity! The whole time I was eating, I kept feeling regret that I didn’t just go down the street to Gen BBQ. Not only that, the restaurant looked like it hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly or remodeled since I had been there last. We were the first dinner customers and upon walking in, you could smell the accumulation of years of old grease and the tables and seating were in poor shape. The food was all right but unless you absolutely have a hankering for duck, I wouldn’t recommend it. Not worth the money!

I dined here recently and was appalled at the quality of the not only the food but the restaurant as well. The food tasted bland and my table was absolutely filthy, the floors were dirty as hell and there was no attention to detail. I’d give it a zero if I could.

Their Kalbi was the blandest I have ever tasted. I think they must have left out some ingredients when making the sauce. Had the duck spicy soup which was decent. Good side dishes. Service was not that great. Very long wait and the lady who took our order seemed shocked that we wanted the duck soup and tried to talk is out of it.

Really hard to spot in Stanton, but probably one of the best and authentic tasting korean bbq places in this town. They specialize in duck bbq although they practically have all the meats offered. It is not an all you can eat bbq place and you have to choose a combo that is offered, but the amount is a good portion for the pricing. The combos come with a refreshing hot bean paste stew and fried rice at the end which is the best part. Probably one of the only spots that offer duck bbq in the area and is a very home styled restaurant that offers a hearty meal. To whoever has not tried duck bbq, I recommend giving this place a try!

5 stars for the excellent service to non Korean speaking patrons. My companions and I wandered in here for duck bbq. The service was great even though our Korean was nonexistent and their English was minimal. We ordered the combo #1 which came with beef brisket, pork belly, fried rice, soy bean soup and beer and an a la carte order of duck. The waitresses went above and beyond and grilled for us and basically made us feel at home. The duck bbq was thinly sliced and cooked on a long hot stone places over a grill. The hot stone was a nice touch because it gave the duck a nice crispy finish. We dipped it into the soy sauce and sesame oil. We followed that up by beef brisket which is always a favorite of mine. Not too fatty but oh so delicious. Finally we had pork belly which was really good as well. The banchan were really good and frequently refilled. The salad had a lovely dressing which lead us to eating 3 bowls of it. At the very end they scrape off the grill and make a fried rice which we let sit to develop a crunchy underside. Yum! The soybean soup came out last and was a nice counterpart to the lightly seasoned fried rice. They gave us a dessert drink at the end before we went on out merry way. 10⁄10 will come back again

I have never had duck at a Korean restaurant before and it was so good. We ordered combo #5 and the meats are good quality beef and duck. Yummers :)

It isn’t a hole-in-the-wall since it is actually pretty big, but it feels like it. My parents live in Seal Beach and this is the place we go for Korean BBQ on this side of the town… All ducks mind you. If you are looking for ambiance, skip it. If you are looking for the ultimate duck barbecue experience, then head on over to Seol Ak San. I must admit that I wasn’t a fan of duck before this place… My ex-husband is half Chinese, so I’ve had my share of ducks. Let me just say that this is the only place I will eat more than two bites of duck. They are grilled on lopsided stone, so most of the fat drips down. Eat it with their salad for duck-divine experience. Yum! They even make fried rice on the stone afterwards… Most folks love ‘em, but they are not love worthy. Good, but I always feel like it is missing something. Two pinches of salt when frying the rice would probably do the trick. Service is always prompt and friendly. Some wait staff do not speak English, so be patient if you don’t speak Korean. Come to think of it… Who needs to chat with delicious food in front of them?

This restaurant have been my family’s favorite Korean reataurant for a several years. I finally got to write a review for thia place. This place is specialized for their duck bbq menu. When my family went to this restaurant last night, we order what we regularly order, thin, flat cut of duck meat. their duck is well seasoned and really tasty with their salad with the house special mustard vinegar sauce. Their korean bean paste soup and fried rice they serve after having duck bbq is also really mouthwatering. The whole course of meal is around 23 dollars per serving. Plus this place have super friendly waitresses. I will always come back to this place

Only had the Duck bbq here and no reason to try anything else! Amazing! They have great side dishes as well and I like the kimchi you can grill with and pull apart to eat with the meat! The salad is incredible and afterwards they give you fried rice and the cold ginger drink to make digestion easier!

Seol Ak San is famous for duck BBQ. It delives name from Seol Ak mountain in S.Korea. Ducks have unsaturated fatty acid, so you don’t need to worry about getting fat, when you eat roast ducks. If you cook meats with kimchi and bean sprouts, it will be better taste. After finishing BBQ, they make fried rice on the stone– plate. It is yummy.

My family has been coming here for quite a long time. Clientel is largely Korean. This place remains authentic and has great service. They make fried rice for you after just about every meal. Most of my friends complain that it’s not AYCE here, but you get what you pay for, and what you pay for here is great meat quality and it fills you up comfortably compared to what you would pay for at a AYCE place. The must order is the DUCK stew. After eating this you will feel energized the next day. The fried rice that they make from the leftover stew is amazing, best FRIEDRICEEVER!

BBQ Duck! It’s the best here. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but the quality of the duck meat is really good. I’ve been coming here ever since they first opened and nothing has changed. After all the bbq, they make fried rice with the left over juices and fat. It is so good and such a good ending after a terrific meal. Definitely recommend this place!

QuackQuack Duck meat is so delicious. (probably spelled that wrong) or duck. joomooruk it’s not only delicious, but Good for you. Unlike porkfat& beef. duck oil stays fluid even in room temperature and doesn’t harden up in your body! Makes me feel less guilty when eating Korean BBq! Suggestion: grill some Kimchi on the pan near the bottom of the grill so all that delicious duck oil can get soaked up in it. It’s ssoooo. Good & of course my favorite!!! Part, the fried rice at the end is just heavenly.

The first time I tried Duck meat was at Sun ha jang in LA and when I like something, I naturally try to find other locations that serve the same food closer to me. Seol Ak San came up and I actually heard good things about it from friends directly so I decided to meet here with a few friends for a farewell party.(5 people) I come in, sit down, and after careful pondering, we decided to get the COMBO5 that has DUCK meat, rib eye, and other good beef… etc etc. For 5 people, this was a good amount of food for all of us to be stuffed. Duck meat was delicious. Everyone loved it. The rib eye was delicious and practically melted in my mouth. Pork? YUM Duck stew? Whoa. Gamey but delish. Fried rice at the end? Great. They even served us rice punch towards the end to help us digest our food! Awesome. I love rice punch. Now, about the service. WONDERFUl. We asked for refills on our side dishes multiple times, requested hot sauce, and they helped clean our pan and cook our meat whenever it seemed like we needed help. When we arrived, there were about 5 other tables and we were the last to leave. Everyone who served us Monday night were very busy but very nice at the same time but I noted how they tried to take care of our table. A MAJORPLUS because it was a special day for us since our friend is departing to northern California and you KNOW they don’t have any decent Korean food there. My whole table enjoyed this experience at Seol Ak San. I will definitely come back to get some duck meat with my friends again~ *after your meal, prance over to Frozen Bar for some delicious ice cream(very much like AFTERS ice cream in Huntington Beach)
