Barber Shop

The barber (John) has been here for years. I started coming here about 5 years ago and I’ve never had anybody cut my hair and my son’s hair but him since. He’s fast and he can get you in and out of there quick. At $ 6 for a haircut… you can leave with less hair on your head and more dough in your pocket.

Whenever it is that you figure out you’re a man, you will find yourself here shortly thereafter, whenever it’s time to tame that greasy, thinning mop on top of your head. I say men go here, not because it’s a rite of passage (though some may claim it is), and not because it’s an obligation (though others may argue for it), but because damn it — it’s fast and efficient.
There’s no fancy hair stylists here — just a man with some clippers, scissors, and a bottle of water. You’ll pay $ 6 for what you would otherwise spend $ 10 or $ 15 at some other place. And it will look exactly the same.
As I was getting my hair cut, a man with a thick handlebar mustache came in — he was a large, swarthy character. The barber cracked a joke at his expense. «How’d you get here? Did your mommy drive you here?»
It was funny, and I could tell that this big guy must have taken heat before from the rather small barber, because the mustache curled slightly so that it seemed that there must be a smile underneath.
My haircut only took about five minutes, and I said I only paid $ 6, plus a tip. Beware, there is no debit or credit, so that’s why I took a star off.
