I do not understand why this place has such a high rating. It offers minimal breakfast options. This is a small café, not a breakfast or brunch place. My Dad and I breakfast often, so seeing the high ratings for this spot, decided to give it a try. Of what we ordered: Autumn salad: pile of lettuce leaves, some craisins, one piece of bread cut into very large pieces, large chunks of cheese, dressing drizzled on top. Not too impressive considering it took them 15 minutes to bring this to the table. Egg in a basket: we were told this was just cooked. But the girl at the counter stuck it in the microwave and baked it to death. It was inedible. Too bad they don’t make these fresh. Quiche: tasty. I liked the addition of the squash. Not sure why this had to be microwaved before being served. The $ 4 Donut was brought to our table as compliments of the restaurant. Sadly, not very tasty. The saving grace of this«meal» — the carrot muffin. delicious, fresh. Overall: Little café with nice ideas for snacky foods. Tips to staff: things like eggs should be cooked to order, not pre-made and sitting out all day. Please don’t microwave foods, it ruins the taste. And if there is a pre-made salad, not sure why it would take 15 minutes to serve. The woman who cooked everything has great ideas. I just think people should know that this is not a brunch spot. It is a little café in a modern art gallery.

There’s something quite lovely about this place; the coffee is great, the food is truly delicious, the service is genuinely friendly, fun, and welcoming… but even beyond all of that, there’s just this really wonderful, home-y vibe that pulls you in and makes you want to stick around. One thing that I think is nice to know is that this place is a non-profit, and while the café is obviously run with great care, their mission is really about presenting the art that inhabits the rest of the space.(So if you’re looking for a super quick, corporate cup of *whatever*, thrown your way efficiently with an almost certainly pre-packaged pastry as you speed out the door, then this place is probably not your best bet). BUT, if you have a few minutes to stick around and peruse the art while they prepare your brunch, you’ll be rewarded with a unique experience that is surely impossible to replicate in Stamford.

Franklin Street Works is a fantastic contemporary art space and café. Admission is free, but I highly recommend you become a member(memberships start at $ 35/year) and support this wonderful community resource. They’re open Wednesday through Sunday, when you can get coffee and pastries, sandwiches and salads, wine and beer. Brunch(with mimosas!) is available on Saturdays and Sundays. Where else can you get great food and support a non-profit organization that contributes to the community at the same time?!

Marvelous discovery thanks to Unilocal.Late Sunday morning, quiet and nice background music playing quietly. No rush, read the papers, good coffee, pastries made on property. Erin leads a lovely staff. Outstandingly pleasant experience.

We had a really lovely breakfast here. We stumbled upon this place and it’s a contemporary art space as well so we were able to look at the art while we waited for our food. The coffee was strong and delicious. The breakfast was great as well. We would recommend the breakfast wrap and the bread pudding. I also enjoyed the muffins– they were gluten free! Great space ! The staff was extremely friendly !

The food and service was phenomenal! Great café to get some food and soak in some art at the same time. I would definitely recommend it checking out. Update 8÷9÷15: Just had an event for my wife’s birthday here and it just solidifies my original review and rating. The whole staff was very friendly and pleasant! Bonnie, Erin and Judy were more than accommodating with helping my wife and I plan our event. This café is a hidden gem(with outdoor seating) tuck away on Franklin Street in Stamford Downtown, serving Brooklyn Roasting Co. coffee which is very good. The also have assorted teas and pastries. The sandwiches, cheese biscuit and quiche(veggie or with bacon) is phenomenal! You cannot go wrong with anything you order from here.

Great bites for breakfast or lunch. They have several good sandwich choices and a nice weekend brunch menu as well. The baked goods are all home runs especially the donut bread pudding. They brew up some Brooklyn Roasting Co, just wish you could get some beans to go. Nice combination of art and food to start your weekend. Service is with a smile and fast. I wouldn’t mind coming back for my fill of pastry’s and bacon!

Incredible in-house, farm-to-table, brunch/lunch and an impressive coffee selection by Brooklyn Roasting Company all coupled with changing and engrossing art shows. Thoughtfulness and intentional connection to the community all around.

Sitting here about to eat a quiche, a tartine, and a mimosa. Can’t wait. I’d also highly recommend the coffee by Brooklyn Roasting Company. Its excellent food and drink to go with excellent art, right in the heart of downtown Stamford!

Just made my first(and last) visit to attend an opening reception. My reaction can be summed up in one word, «caca». And to think that I left the excellent Waveny Carriage Barn reception early to attend this mess!

A cute little café tucked away on franklin street downtown. Im surprised i missed this place earlier. This is the perfect place for a nice afternoon with a cup of coffe and yum sandwiches. I had the chocolate milkshake, eggplant wrap and the grilled veggie saandwich. Every single one of them was great! Especially loved the grilled veggie sandwich. A lovely atmosphere and super friendly staff make this place a gem!

Franklin Street Works is the best! Their shows are consistently good, and Terri and Sandrine(the two gallery people) are even known to give impromptu tours to visitors. The food is mostly sandwiches and soups from café oolala, both of which are pretty good(I usually go for the curry chicken) and the café staff Adama and Emily are very sweet. If you get a chance, come to one of their openings or events: they’re always a good time and nice way to meet artists and art lovers. Did I mention the coffee is pretty good too?
