Tiny, basically hidden spot which serves a heavy local crowd amongst the fly-bys. Simple breakfast fare all offered al la carte, which maximizes your mix and match options. A three egg omelet stuffed with your choice of three items and a side of blueberry pancakes, for example, is no problem. Grits were fine, potatoes nice flavor but maybe a little light on the crisp. Over medium eggs came out over easy — universally a lost art it seems, so maybe it is me. All in all, functional fare and calories to start the day. And more if you hit the baked goods to go.

Yummy! This ISTHE Locals’ hotspot! Tucked behind a few shops on Fredricka, mid-Island(N). Plenty of parking early mornings & Sundays, but plan to wait in line outside if you arrive after 9AM. There is a reason locals love this place — the great food/great service/great prices! Wonderful fresh baked goods, big muffins! Take a bag full with you! Browse the other shop windows while you wait for your table or strike up a conversation with those waiting, I’m sure most will be able to suggest their favorite menu items!

Best breakfast buffet. It’s tough to find a buffet that has a wide selection of good food but this place has it going on. Definitely got my money’s worth by taking my boyfriend who made several trips back to the buffet!

Delicious breakfast for the whole family. Eggs Benedict and hash browns were fresh and tasty. I especially enjoyed the blueberry pancakes with real berries baked in the mix. Coffee was just right and kids cleaned their plates of FRENCH toast. We will definitely come back.

Ok but overpriced. $ 40 for breakfast for 4 and 2 where kids? Better places on the island.

Best breakfast on the island. Be sure to ask for Cathy as your waitress. She makes great hot chocolate for kids and is great with kids. Food is great!!! Love the quaint atmosphere. Great coffee

Great little breakfast spot! Our table had Eggs Benedict, blueberry pancakes, omelet, grits– everyone seemed to enjoy it all. My cofee cup was refilled by 3 different servers, which I really appreciated. Polished it off with a big olé cinnamon bun– just a little too much icing for me but heard no complaints from anyone else. I will definitely be back– probably tomorrow!

Horrible service. You need to be a local to get served. I sat at the counter and watched a local order after me and get served immediately. After waiting 20 minutes for an order of eggs, I paid for coffee and walked out..

Stopped in for breakfast, brunch on a Sunday morning. Very friendly atmosphere, good food, especially the cinnamon rolls :-). Good overall value. I’m sure I will be back at some point.

A great place to stop in for breakfast or lunch. While I’ve only eaten breakfast here, the locales love it. We enjoyed a nice breakfast for two. The omelette was delicious. They served to with a big helping of southern hospitality!

Service is rather slow but worth the wait for the homemade hash, French toast, and cinnamon rolls! Also the coffee was delicious.

Always good. Eggs bene and blueberry pancakes are favs. We come here every summer during our SSI stay. Just the right feel for brunch. Service is always top notch. Want to try the salads next time. The guy creating them was turning out the best looking salads.

This is a great breakfast place. We’re staying at The Cloister and wanted to venture out. I read some reviews and decided to give it a shot. I could not be more satisfied. The service is personable and quick! The food is excellent! We had a bit of everything, from eggs Benedict, sausage egg and cheese, pancakes and even a hard boiled egg. They have a train track and a fish tank that our nephew couldn’t get enough of! Enjoy!

This review is based on several visits over the last two years or so. Generally, the food here has tasted good and the service has ranged from«OK» to quite good. Not special, but all-in-all pretty good. But I have a strong concern … Last November I asked the waitress what fish was served on the fish sandwich on the menu, I was told«grouper.» I ordered it and it tasted fine. The texture and taste was not like grouper(a fish I have eaten many dozens of times in several states), but it was OK. Today I asked the same question and a different waitress answered the same — «grouper.» I asked her if it was REALLY grouper — not a fish similar to, cousin of, neighbor of, etc — grouper. She checked with a fellow who is older and always seems to be there and he answered promptly that the fish is «SWAI — it’s in the grouper FAMILY!» So, the fish that is being represented to customers as GROUPER is not that ATALL! In checking further, we learned that Swai is a catfish from VIETNAM!(This information can be confirmed at the on-line version of Consumer Reports and umerous other sources.) So, what rating should be assigned to a restaurant that generally serves good food and with fair-good service? OK, now, suppose that restaurant has a policy of deceiving its customers and misrepresenting the food being served? Had we not been to the Café Fredrica before and had reasonably good experiences, I’d give them a solid«1.» However, the experiences of the last two visits suggest a «2» would be more fair — along with a CAUTION to prospective customers to INQUIRE about the nature of food beiing served — there’s a severe credibility problem with this business.

Great service — always someone checking on you and filling up your coffee which is key for breakfast. Everything made to order. Good«home cooked» breakfast. When the restaurant is full of locals you know it’s a good spot!

Café Frederica was pretty good. We went for breakfast this morning; the service and food was great. I had the eggs benedict with a side of corned beef hash and my wife had the pancakes and sausage. My eggs benedict were pretty standard and the corned beef hash was pretty good; mix together for awesomeness. My wife’s pancakes were as normal as pancakes anywhere and the sausage she got looked awesome.

This is consistently the best breakfast on the island. My only complaint today was the size of my pancake, it is usually the size of the inner rim of the plate and today it was the size of the bread plate(too small). The stack pictured is from a different visit and it is the correct size. I told two people about it, hope that will help. The ham and cheese omelet was perfect as were my husband’s scrambled medium eggs, bacon and grits! Thanks Café Frederica

Delicious… in a word. We arrived around 10 for breakfast on a Monday and things were hopping. We were seated 10 minutes later. I had an omelet with bacon, mushrooms and provolone. I also order home fries which had a great seasoned salt on them, yum! My partner and I split a cinnamon roll for dessert, ha! Can you have dessert after breakfast? We’ll, we were on vacation so what the heck?! All I can say is yum again! Coffee was good, service was extremely good. It’s a small place but definitely worth the wait.
