Crescent Lake Park

This is as good as it gets for a city park in the middle of a historic neighborhood! Growing up only a couple of miles away I have been and still continue to frequent this park due to the running paths and space.
The historic neighborhood is great with a nearby Outback, Carrabbas or Panera’s, for those who worked up an appetite from a run or enjoy watching swans, ducks and geese. There are amenities for all kinds from a children’s playground, a nice-​sized dog park to an open field for sports (where I tore my ACL many years ago. the memories.) and even a baseball field with a water tower in the back. Plenty of shade is offered and water fountains as well along with maintenance and upkeep to keep this place looking beautiful.
Another place I bring people not from the area as you can see the skyline in the back from 22^nd ave and overlook of this majestic beauty.

As far as parks to walk, and bring your kids to this is one of my top choices. I will give the few negatives, prior to the positives (as there are far more positives, but the negatives are enough for me to NOT give 5 stars.)
I don’t recommend free range parents to come to this park. There are often too many «big kids» there who do not care one tiny bit about a little one that they run over. I have an almost 1 year old and almost 3 year old. I have had several instances of kids 10 – 12 years old who have parents «with» them but not paying the least bit of attention to them. I realize this is a parenting issue and not to do with the park, but this park is hugely popular for kids and I just want to be honest! My son was about 7 or 8 months old when a 10 year old boy kicked a soccer ball into the playground and it hit my sleeping baby in the face. I then proceeded to tell the kid that the ball would be mine if I saw them with it on the playground again. I said y’all need to get out on the field and mind the other people around you! The other negative is that a LOT of people bring their dogs and they are not all socialized or «good» dogs to have around kids and a park environment. Now in BOTH situations these are isolated incidents, however, they can ruin the park for everyone when bad kids and bad dogs (mostly off leash) cause problems. But you need to keep an eye on your kids!
For runners or adults coming on their own and NOT using the playground I think this is one of the best parks in St. Pete. There is usually a shady area, there is almost always a breeze, and the park is very picturesque.
You can have loads of fun at this park and enjoy it with your family or dogs! Or both!

What a great place for bird-​watching, frisbee, reading, and a walk around the lake’s perimeter. It’s so beautiful around sunset. Don’t forget to bring lots of bread for the geese AND squirrels!

Crescent lake park is such a lovely oasis! If you haven’t had a chance to visit this park take a day and come down. There is something for everyone. There are many birds that frequent the lake including swans, geese, ducks, and parakeets. There is a dog park, a palyground for the human rugrats, and a field for flying kites or playing frisbee. There is even a paved path around the lake for walking/​jogging.

I LOVE this park. It is similar to a park I absolutely adored back in Kansas City. It is decently large 1 – 2 city blocks), has a lake in the shape of a crescent (self explanatory), is VERY well cared for, with a path that winds all the way around the park. The people that go here are GREAT! Friendly, family type folks who smile as they walk/​jog around the park. I feel absolutely safe (nice as a single female-​though I always bring my dog and she’s 90 lbs so… good luck to anyone who tries to hurt me), it has a VERY well maintained dog park and I have never had an issue with any dogs or dog owners here.
I really recommend it. It’s a GREAT city park and the PERFECT park for joggers!!! Lots of trees for shade (NEEDED in FL for jogging… especially if you sweat like me (no GLISTENING here!). Try it out, you won’t be sorry.
Beautiful ducks and birds to watch. My dog runs around like he’s in absolute dog heaven here!!!

Beautiful place! I visited this on a whim while my vehicle was being worked on at the local shop on 9^th & 9^th. I walked to the park and was immediately grabbed by the lush green lawn, the folks playing some outdoor games and the walking track. There are many different birds and geese which I made the silly mistake of walking up to lol… I was immediately greeted with a loud honking and they were giving me the ‘what for’ because I approached empty handed! If you are easily intimidated by these birds I wouldn’t recommend approaching them — I squatted down and they are big and bold enough to walk very close to you… And they look you in the eye!
I returned to the park after my vehicle was finished with proper food in hand (not bread or junk food) and sat amongst them and was greeted by all. Hand fed and even got to pet a couple of the geese.
All in all — a wonderful place to go and just enjoy!

I am a runner so I tend to run in trails in the local parks. I have always ran in this park because it was close to home when I lived in the area, now that I live further up I still drive down here to do my run. You may ask why? I’ll tell you why.
The park has three running trails of different lengths so you can choose which one you want to do. I run the outer train which I which 1 ¹⁄₁₀ of a mile. Today I decided to do my eight mile run. If you want to train for longer runs I would say this the park in to train .
Most parks close when it’s dark and they close the gates but this park is open to the public all the time and there are cops that patrol it so you feel safe. It is also very lit so your not running in complete darkness like other parks.
There are always people around especially families around so your never alone in the park. I have not been bothered here so I feel very safe .
Okay, so it is great place to run and walk your dog but it is very busy especially around peak times which is 6:30 to 8:00 pm meaning the trails have people on them and you have to walk around them if they don’t give you room to do so, many times they do. So if you do not like crowded places you may be frustrated.
The park is always keapt up very well and I have no problems running. It is well maintained which makes me happy.

A nice open neighborhood park with a fair amount of things to do and see. It surrounds about a mile size lake, hence the name. I just moved into the area and was looking for an off-​leash dog park for my pup.
The park is fairly nice with both big and small dog areas. The dog park is a little tricky to find if you are not looking for it. It’s located next to the tennis courts and softball field. There are quite a bit of shade and benches for you to sit and enjoy the scenery. One of the highlights of the park is the wildlife. There are lots birds and fish to checkout. It also seems to not be too crowed. I recommend checking it out!

Great spot. Scenic with wildlife running everywhere. Nice place to take a walk and relax! Family friendly too!

Traveling through and wanted to check it out… sadly we didnt even find the dog park! Either we were blind or it must be hidden

This park has a mile walk way and is nestled in a cute neighborhood (Soho Juice is super close). They have a big and small dog play area, playground, benches and a softball field. I love the walk around the lake, it’s truly calming while you stride along. Want a nice walk with the dog, a stroll with the kids or a kick butt workout — check out this clean park.

Very lovely place to go and enjoy the out doors! It gets rather crowded as does the dog park which makes truly enjoying the area a bit hard. Parking is good if you don’t go at the most crowded times of day. Also they have events there on occasion which is nice.

Fabulous place to stop by for a planned run, date picnic, or simply a stroll with your pooch.
This is a decent size park with a mile running marked sidewalk around it for those fitness enthusiasts. There are many trees so you can usually find shade up to 9−10am. It is gorgeous and sprawling with lots of greenery. The breeze off of the lake makes is a very pleasant run. The only issue I have as a runner is that there is not a fountain for a sip of water, unless I missed it.
There is ample parking all around the park on the street. There is no parking lot, but I’ve never had a problem finding parking whether morning or night, weekday or weekend. No meters either.
Being a pet owner, there is a small fenced doggy park It is split by the weight of the dogs. There is even a dog water fountain which is really nice.
The bird life, geese and ducks, are fun to see from a distance, but… they are a bit of nuisance when driving because they loiter on the streets. They also stay in the park because some locals do feed them (I’ve seen them). There are geese all over the park and there is poop everywhere on the side walks. :(In some places you have to pick around it when walking.
Overall I rate this park a 4 because it is a pleasant environment that is quite relaxing. Only the lack of fountain and the pesky birds that are encouraged by the locals are my hiccups.

This place is absolutely beautiful. The lawn is well-​kept, and the trees are gorgeous. In the way of wildlife, there are lots of turtles, ducks, geese, other birds, and even two otters living in the sparkling lake.
Around the park is a one mile path, but this can be shortened by sticking to the the part that goes right around the lake. Along with these things, there are tennis courts. There’s also a playground and a dog park.
Overall, this is a great place to come relax, hang with the family, or be active.

This is one of my all time favorite parks and one of the best in St. Pete. There is something for everyone here. A lake to enjoy and walk around. A dog park for your four legged friends. A playground area for children. The park has some areas for you to catch some sun and a lot of shady areas as well. The variety of trees make it picturesque.
The only downside is that when there are several ducks and birds around the lake, the sidewalk is not as attractive, if you catch my drift.
Awesome park to visit and I always look forward to visiting.

Crescent Lake Park is probably one of the most used parks in the eastside of St. Pete. The lake is filled with ducks, a fantastic family of geese, and turtles that were out by the droves yesterday. There is a sidewalk running path which is about a mile and a quarter all the way around. There are tennis courts, two dog parks a little pup and a big pup one, and a baseball diamond. Where you see a lot of action is near the playground and a large open field that seems to always have something going on. Yesterday there was a stroller mom class, people playing freebie, people kicking the soccer ball around and a family flying a kite. The day before we were there, they were filming a movie about bearded men. They host an a semi-​annual garage yard sale one of which is in September and several other events throughout the year. It is a hub of activity.
I have written about Crescent Lake a lot over the years. I claim it as Baby Friendly in 2011 and as an asset in the St. Pete versus Tampa in 2007. It was the place Lydia first went to the playground and had a first swing. A place I meet up with friends to chat and walk or watch badminton. It is really is a treasure.
The feeding of the ducks can be a challenge. We have feed ducks at Crescent often. There are lots of hungry birds there including seagulls, lots of them, and what can only be their first cousins these little white birds with orange bendy beaks that are just as pushy and overwhelming. Lydia has gotten slightly more brave but the bread comes out the birds come flying from all over taking food right from the ducks and if the geese are there that is a whole other dimension of intensity.
However, there are a few things that could be a little better. The playground equipment is mostly one big structure that all connects. There are 5 slides on it and really just a lot of ways to get up to those slides. There are some swings and a couple of riding cars. The 2 – 5 year old area has one baby swing and a plastic blue car; nothing else. The park isn’t fenced in which allows for little ones to run a little too far too fast. I wish it had slightly more to do for the kids because we frequent this park so much. The playground is placed perfectly in a shady area which makes it great most of the year.
That being said kids seem to find other things to do in the great outdoors even when they seemingly have limited equipment, whether it’s viewing the turtles sun, chasing the birds, making new friends climbing the roots of trees or just being a little silly with old friends.

Beautiful park! I can’t believe this is in the middle of St Pete. You kind of forget you’re in the city when you’re here. There were lots of people here when we came on the weekend. Kids playing, people running/​walking, bird watching, walking their dogs. We did a lap around the lake with our dog. I enjoyed watching all of the different types of birds. I could probably name like…3, but it was fun making up names for them with my son. :)
There was a children’s playground area, a small dog park, and plenty of benches to sit on and just relax. Lots of open grassy areas too. I did see signs to watch for alligators in the lake, but didn’t see any (thankfully lol). This is definitely one of my favorite parks in the area.

Beautiful park with a large lake in the middle. Always abundance of variety of birds. See many feeding the ducks and geese. On one side of the lake is kids’ playground. I see many happy children and chatty moms all the time. Large open field allows people play, fly kites, have picnics, tan, or play with their pups. I feel like it’s too close to the road to let mine off the leash though… If you are like me, not to worry, there’s dog park on the opposite side of the lake. Unfortunately, that park is the reason for 4 stars. I have small dogs. The area for them is tiny. No place to really run around. It’s also not very grassy and my dogs constantly coming out muddy or dirty (depending on weather). Needless to say, we pass the dog park almost every time we are there.

This has to be one of the best parks in St Pete because it is my new favorite place to go for a picnic or a park nap in the shade.
A shady park is apparently hard to find in FL — not everything needs to have palm trees people! Palm trees don’t give much shade. This park has lots of shady areas near a decent size lake and plenty of benches to relax in while taking in the view.
A great park for a run because they have a paved trail about a mile long with markers.
There is also a seemingly pretty popular swing and playground area for kids.

I have to say that this is one of the local parks that I frequent more often. It has everything you need. Dog park for the pup, playground for the kids, and lots of area to play football or soccer with the guys. Maybe even have a picnic with the family. The park is pretty clean, but watch out for the geese droppings when they are around. I come here a lot to run my dog on my longboard or just have a jog around the lake. I’ve even been out there late night and never once had any concern about safety. A nice area filled with nice people. Oh, there also is fishing, but only during a certain part of the year. I think after Labor Day for a few weeks.
