I can’t say enough great things about this place. Heather does my hair and I love it. Everyone is friendly and helpful, the place is big and clean but still cozy, and they do vivid colors PROPERLY(which isn’t as common as it should be) 10 out of 10, A+, highly recommend

I had gone to this salon for 4 years and loved my stylist. In April 2014 after my services and paying, I realized I was charged for a service I didn’t receive. My stylist said she would make it up next time I was in. Before I saw her again, she had left the salon. I spent a month and a half trying to get a hold of the Salon Owner because they owed me money. She finally called me back saying it was determined that they did owe me $ 54. However, she would only give me $ 39 because the stylist was paid out commission when they first charged me! I cannot believe the salon didn’t eat that $ 15 to keep the customer happy. However, the owner did offer to provide me with the service I was charged for but never received, stating it would be a good deal for me because she charged more. Really? I was then sent a coupon for 50% off services of a new stylist. Couldn’t believe it. I will NEVER go back and will NEVER recommend. What a terrible way to treat customers.

I come to Frederick’s to see Janelle, who always does an excellent job cutting my hair. I like getting my hair cut from her in the evening on weekends because she always styles it really well for me before I go out. She’s friendly and affordable and Frederick’s has a nice, laid-back vibe.

Had two mani-pedis here and both times were meh, just okay. Its more of a hair salon than a nail place so the set-up isn’t great. The two nail techs are also somewhat sloppy and will leave nails looking like a good at-home self done job rather than a professional job. This means painted cuticles, uneven lines, thick layers which results in tiny bubbles, sloppy and uneven edges etc. For drying there are no UV dryers. All you get is a small fan. If you go towards the end of the day they tend to make you feel rushed, which is annoying since you feel obligated to get out before the dinky fan can do its job drying your new polish. Color selection is somewhat limited but it looks like the polishes they do have are somewhat newer and trendier.

I am the type of person who is really picky about my hair and I’m very particular about my stylist. To be honest, for a while I was a salon-whore. I jumped around from salon to salon, stylist to stylist, and found that either they didn’t pay enough attention to what I wanted, they were too expensive, or they just didn’t know what to do with all of my thick and wavy hair. My best friend got married in October 2010 and she chose Frederick’s for us to get our hair done. I was a little worried because of my lack of trust for hair stylists and because I’m overly vain about my hair. But let me tell you, I haven’t gone to another salon since! The owners and all of the stylists are very friendly and the haircuts and highlights are SUPER affordable! Sure, it’s not a high-class, 5-star salon, but you really can’t get much better value than at Frederick’s. I get a lot of compliments on my hair and I proudly refer my friends to the salon. The only thing I was bummed about was when my original stylist, Lizzy, left to pursue a different career :(but not to worry, I started going to Lizzy’s friend at Frederick’s in December(2011) and she has done an awesome job with my hair too.

I drove down Watson this evening looking for a pedicure after putting in 20 hours a day on my feet for the last week. I pulled into Office Max’s shopping plaza(not sure what it’s really called, but that’s the only thing I could ever see from the road) thinking there had to be at least one nail place. ding! ding! ding! Not one, but two. Rose’s looked sketchy, so I walked into Frederick’s(thinking it was only hair) to get their opinion of Rose’s. Come to find out they did pedicures as well, so I waited to get one here. They do their pedicures in a separate little room, and my girl was great. I got the absolute best foot massage I’ve ever had on a pedicure, which made me even happier since that was really what I was going in for. However, the massage chair wasn’t turned on, once the water started churning in the foot bath all types of hair and random particles floated to the top that weren’t mine(almost looked like someone shaved their legs in there– yuck), and it wasn’t quite the on-point pedicure I’m used to getting(no foot shaver, didn’t trim around the edges of the nail, exfoliants were minimal). They did have a good selection of new OPI polish which beats some of the old, decrepit selections I see at other places. And then it cost $ 40. I don’t mind paying $ 40 for a pedicure occasionally, but I can have my pick of good pedicures in other places for $ 25. The breakdown: great people, polish selection, foot/leg massage. Also, I picked up a full-size Biolage shampoo/conditioner/small bodywash set for $ 11.95(crazy, huh?)…so look out for those types of deals. My pedcurist is a hairstylist and I loved her, so I will be back to try out the hair part, however I’m going to go back to my little hole-in-the-wall $ 25 pedicure for sure.

For my sister’s wedding we got our hair done here. There was 1 mother of the bride, 1 bride, 5 bridesmaids. When scheduling the appointments my sister said there were 5 bridesmaids to get their hair done at 9 but we found out that they scheduled us for 3 girls at 9 and 2 at 10. Since the photographer was coming at 11 this was a bit stressful. Also, upon arriving I was told that the lady doing my sister’s hair and my hair only accepted cash for the $ 50 updo. Not cool especially considering that the only bank in the area was a US Bank and I don’t bank there. I was not impressed with the scheduling or the cash-only thing ATALL. However, once we got there they were very welcoming and let us use the empty stylist posts to put on makeup. They also had coffee and cookies for the customers. The salon was very clean and the workers friendly. Also, and probably most importantly, everyone’s hair looked awesome the entire day. Overall: A-OK.

Frederick’s Beauty Etc is a very nice establishment with a lot of years behind them. I came in here to get some shampoo and conditioner, and may just start getting my hair done here. Everyone here was so happy, and there was none of that snootiness that makes me so uncomfortable in other salons. You can get your hair cut, highlighted, dyed and styled here. They also have tanning services available, and of course there are nail services as well.
