The Reserve White Zinfandel, Muscat of Alexandria & Port were awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of the Sutter Home Wines. Not to mention the wine has a amazing price point. The staff at Sutter Homes was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products. They presented the wine in a way that made you feel comfortable. I will definitely visit Sutter Home again.

My husband and I stopped in unexpectedly during our trip last week and were pleasantly surprised. The wines are very reasonable in price and the tasting is complimentary which is nice after a day of spending $ 20 – 40 each on tastings at other wineries. Maggie poured for us and she is just a doll. Totally recommend requesting her if you can. Not only did she educate us on the wines, but about the area as well and gave us some great Italian dinner spot recommendations in which we hit up Fillipi’s in downtown Napa and had the best dinner of our trip thanks to her. We will be telling our friends and family to hit up Sutter Home on their next visit to Napa.

I was so pleased with this last minute addition to our trip. The woman serving the wine was so friendly and there was no pressure as I felt at a few other places. The tasting is also complimentary! They even have alcohol free wines if you are traveling with someone who can’t drink. The mustard taste test is very good and we took that home!

My hubby and I stopped here on our trip to Napa to taste the wines… We used to drink Sutter Home back in our early 20s when everyone was drinking Moscato because Drake mentioned it in a song — Bleh. Since we knew the label so well, we just wanted to visit to at least say we were there. We really weren’t thinking that this would be anything to write home to, especially because the tasting was complimentary, but man were we wrong! This was a great experience and I recommend stopping by if you’re in Napa. If you’re really feeling like a wine snob –you can taste their reserves for $ 5 a tasting — still not bad!

This is a big vineyard that has a lot to offer and as a lower type wine actually had some nice reserved bottles and wines you could only buy in their. Their tasting is free and you can try up to 4 per person which is nice. They also have another tasting at the same bar which is $ 5 for their higher up wines. We bought some of their reserve bottles and their shipping wasn’t too bad for everything we bought so overall a good experience.

How can I start. What an awesome winery. If you can, try your tasting with Marge. She’s the perfect example of hospitality. By the time I looked up, my wife and her had started talking dogs and favorite wines. Even discussed beers. PS: Marge, the peanut butter chocolate beer? it was called Duclaws Sweet Baby Jesus. I recommend stopping here greatly!

Good place right on the highway. We visited on 12⁄11. The wine tasting experience was amazing. More than anything its good for your pocket as compared to other wineries in Napa. You get to taste some wines for FREE. All the wines we tasted here were good. We ended up buying the White Zinfandel and The Triple Creamy Desert Wine! This was FUN…

Great service, lovely tasting. Not all their wines are awesome, but they have both a free tasting and a $ 5 tasting, so it’s worth a stop. You’ll likely find something you like, and the price can’t be beat. Take home a bottle or two for the price of a tasting elsewhere.

My wine snob friends and I went here on a dare but we ended up having a really fun time! I feel a little bad that I was making so much fun of this winery because now I think this place should be on everyone’s must-stop list, especially if you are new to the whole world of wine tasting. Yes, Sutter Home wines are cheap. Yes, their wines aren’t super fancy. And yes, you will probably be mocked by your serious wine buddies when you speak up and say you want to taste here. But you know what? Who cares?! Just go! In the words of my favorite band Weezer, «I don’t give a hoot about what you think!» Sutter Home white zinfandel was my «gateway» wine in college; it’s all because of that one wine that I am now a serious wine drinker and collector. Even after over two decades, I can still open a bottle of Sutter Home white zin and enjoy it immensely! It’s still an easy-drinker after all these years(and you can’t beat the bargain price)! Tastings are FREE at the winery, something that is unheard of in the Napa valley nowadays. The hosts at the tasting bar were super friendly and welcoming, and I really enjoyed the easygoing, neighborly atmosphere. No appointment is required; you are invited to come as you are. No snobbery or pretension here, everyone is welcome. The tasting menu(you can select 4 to try, but it’s easy to sweet talk the employees behind the counter for a few extra tastes) had a nice variety of easy drinking wines that are sold exclusively at the winery(the sparkling white zinfandel was very good and was priced at around $ 12 per bottle). Get over yourself if you think you are«too good» to drink Sutter Home wines. Now that’s not to say that there weren’t quite a few stinkers on the tasting menu; I found the reds undrinkable across the board. Nasty! Best to stick to what they do best: white zinfandels(you’ll even find a reserve on the tasting menu, and it’s pretty good as well). Everybody’s a wine critic and it’s a little unfair of me since I like big, bold, lush cabernet sauvignons. I say drink what you like, even if you like wines that I wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole.(But PLEASE do not refer to regular zinfandel as «red zinfandel.» No, no, no, no, NO! Just DON’T DOIT)! If you are interested in belonging to a wine club, Sutter Home offers the most affordable one I have ever seen. They even have a nice little private bar area for club members. Tasting room hosts always push the wine club and I tend to tune them out, but this club seemed to have lots of fun events and what-not. Not for me, but it may be worth a look if you are new to the wine world or you really like their wines. Also it’s worth mentioning that this winery has the best gift shop in town. Lots of fun little wine-themed hostess gifts, cute shirts, tote bags, cookbooks, picnic supplies, specialty foods and sauces, drinking glasses and more. A great place to shop for yourself or your wine drinking friends. The winery grounds are lovely too, check out the grassy area and the historic house with a lovely rose garden. Since white zinfandel is such a popular pink wine, this place is in SUPER high demand by cackling bachelorette parties, «wild girlfriends’ weekend» cliques and the ubiquitous drunk buses(er, I mean wine shuttle tour buses). Just beware and prepared for this if you stop by. The number of ginormous motorcoaches in the parking lot is your first clue as to if you want to stop and go inside or keep driving down Highway 29. If you are hanging in the valley with your girlfriends, if you are a shopaholic looking for cute wine country souvenirs, or if you love and purchase Sutter Home wines with regularity, then by all means make this a must-stop destination! If you are a wine snob like me, it might be worth checking out on a dare — but you could just as well be as surprised as I was with how much fun I had here. Loosen up and go. This isn’t the type of winery you want to take your friends to if you’re trying to impress them(nor is it the type of wine you’d want to take to a fancy dinner party), but it is a great«starter» place to learn about the world of Napa wine tasting. For all these reasons, Sutter Home has earned a 4 star review from me!

We were driving up and down route 29 and we saw Sutter Home Winery! I’m very familiar with the brand(most of the wine I drink is from there). So naturally I wanted to go there! Everyone was really nice and hospitable especially Darcy who took care of us. She was so sweet and fun and very knowledgable about the wine pairings! She even took pictures for us and with us! The complimentary wine tasting was a major plus! The girls and I will definitely remember this place for a long time and I recommend everyone to try them out!!!

This winery shop was a bit on the small side but there were plenty of samples of good foods and wines. Regardless, the grounds were beautiful and the wine samples were free so can’t complain too much. The nice thing about it being a brand that sells in stores across the country, I found a few new wines that I can buy at home and not lug through the airport.

I’m giving 3 stars simply because free wine was involved, and I’m feeling generous. After a day of touring wineries, we came to Sutter Home with the full understanding that we’d be trying some of the cheapest wine in Napa. Our expectations were very low, and even then, we were let down. As it was a free tasting, we’d all agreed we were going to pick up at least one bottle or a gift shop item upon finishing. After getting ignored at the tasting bar for over 5 minutes, the couple next to us asked if they were allowed to give us their own menu to look at. At that point, the woman behind the bar acknowledged us and was somewhat helpful. She didn’t explain anything about the 6 wines we could choose from, just asked us to point out what we wanted to try from their names on the paper. We were waiting for our second sample when a couple from the Wine Club walked up to the bar. They announced their title and from then on out, the woman pouring for us didn’t bother to check in with us or ask what we’d like to try next. We had to continually wave her down to get her to uncork. The Wine Club couple were done with 6 wines before we’d even had our third. At the end of the tasting, we weren’t asked if we’d enjoyed any, or if we had any questions. As I said before, out of politeness, we’d initially said we’d each purchase something from Sutter Home. After getting treated so poorly, we didn’t even bother. Cheap wine, even worse customer service.

The only reason I came here was to buy Sweet Red for my cousin since she mentioned in the past that she loved it. It didn’t hurt that the wine tastings were free and that they had food to munch on. The workers here weren’t the friendliest compared to all the other places we tried. But I guess you can’t complain much when its free tastings!

Really good sutter reserve rose. The sweet mustard and corn salsa were also good. Nice pit stop for some wine on the go.

This is a «cheap» winery brand, so wine snobs stay away. But for the rest of us, this wine is excellent for the price. Free tasting with the winery finder app and free snacks inside!

Cool place to check out but very subpar wines. Came here as part of a wine tour with my gf and this was our last stop of the day. The venue is really nice itself, multiple large houses on a nice plot of land. The inside is cool itself as well, when we got to the tasting is when things went downhill fast. This was the only winery that we toured where I was carded, not that it’s a bad thing since its policy to do so but I found it annoying and not classy to me unlike all the other estates and winery’s we went to. The tasting began and it was very rushed, the lady spoke fast and was trying to rush it all which I didn’t like. The wines were bad, they were cheap and just did not satisfy me. This is a very cheap place to be able to do a tasting but it’s a definition of you get what you pay for.

Came here for the COMPLIMENTARYTASTING! Although most of Napa is dog friendly unfortunately they aren’t so dog friendly here luckily our puppies were service dogs they have no choice but to allow them in. At first the guys there were probably very skeptical about a bunch of young Asian kids in their winery but once they got to see that we know how to appreciate wines they kind of loosen up to our level. We try a bunch of stuff! From the things we pick to the things he thought we would like! We left with a total of 12 bottles! 6 of them were the new REDBLEND!!! I don’t drink red at all but the red blend is something I can definitely do! At $ 6 a bottle you can’t beat that! I’m actually sad that I’m down to my last bottle of red blend! Stop by and ask them about it! It’s not in stores yet!

Not only am I totally unimpressed with sutter homes wines in distribution(ie mass retailers such as Safeway and Kroger banners), but I’m beyond unimpressed with Sutter Home’s crappy customer service. We paid for a full wine tasting via tour bus. The host for the tasting was very informative. Our group was impressed with a few wines and we were ready to buy bottles. We proceeded to the tasting room and, with cash In hand were ready to buy bottles, requested a paid tasting. WEWEREREFUSED! We were so offended that we went back to the bus and complained to our wine chaperone.

Came here because they have free wine tasting. The design of the winery itself was really simple and neat when you walked it unlike other big wineries. There were alot of snack samples like salsa and Doritos for you to try in case you got sick from wine tasting. Most of the wine on the list are either sweet wine or white wine. There were some choice of red wine too but not alot. I had the moscado and i love it since i am a sweet wine person, It was smooth and fruity. Me and my group were sipping one and we took and snack break and then back to next sip so it was a pretty comfortable experience. When we left, i saw alot of younger age people walking into the winery so i am wondering here might be some pregame place for younger people who are at 21LOL anyway i like the coziness of this place and i would not mind to come back when i am in Napa next time!
