#Selfie, official #selfie wine. Didn’t like the wine too much, more entertaining than anything else. Nice view and ate out in the back area. Wine tasting fee is $ 15 for 4 tastings.

Lovely little winery. There’s a cute patio with a pretty view of the vineyard. Tasting was only $ 15 for 4. You can bring your own picnic and have a nice lunch. The staff was friendly. Really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere.

This was my first vineyard visit in Napa Valley. I was planning a trip for myself and 3 other friends of mine to take just a short two day trip to Napa to wine taste. We are all pretty new at the whole experience, and David Fulton was a fantastic start to our trip. I called a few days ahead to book a tasting around lunch time. The gentleman on the phone asked me how I found the winery(they are the oldest still in operation in Napa Valley) and encouraged me to bring lunch to have on the patio. Also, tastings are only $ 15 per person, and that is waived if you purchase a bottle. We did, to have along side our lunch we had bought in our way into the valley. Richard is the wine maker. He is a real character, and is super laid back. It is a super small winery, only producing around 1,000 cases a year(instead of the bigger ones at 10,000 cases). The patio is gorgeous. The experience of having lunch with friends with great wine was a perfect start to our trip. Richard even joined us and suggested another bottle to go with our food. Great friends and great wine. I can’t wait to go back! We really felt like family being the only ones there when we went. Thanks Richard and David Fulton for the unforgettable experience…

I visited the winery. It was ok. The person providing the service was mostly interested in his new innovative(self-proclaimed) social media label concept. I would encourage this winery to focus on the quality of the wine, and stop worrying so much about the advertising and marketing on social media. Good wine will sell itself.

Stopped here for lunch with Platypus. Had a nice, knowledgeable tasting experience surrounded by a beautiful vineyard. I would definitely recommend checking this place out for the ambiance and the experience of visiting one of the valley’s original family-owned wineries.

Visitors beware! Ever since they hired Jason the winery I use to love has changed for the worse. It’s very expensive for wine that is not premium or award winning. The membership is not worth as well because they are not flexible(they use to be) and you are forced to buy what Jason wants you to buy or else it «messes up his inventory.» Where I use to pick and choose what I wanted — can’t do that anymore. Last time I went I paid an outrageous price for four bottles of wine which I felt was a slap across the face or a message to never come back. Thanks for loyalty! With so many good wineries in Napa don’t waste your time or put yourselves in a position to be scammed or ripped off by Jason. Hope the owners are reading this because of Jason I will NEVER go back and I’m telling others to do the same.

David Fulton is one of the original Napa valley wineries(might even be THE original). It’s small but definitely worth a visit for a tasting. We loved every wine that we tried here, all really delicious reds that they make in very small batches. The Legacy 1810 was my favorite. Jason Elkin did our tasting and he made the experience so much fun — he is a hilarious and charismatic guy and really got us in the mood to have a great day wine touring. Beautiful views from the patio, great wines, fun people — what else do you need? Looking forward to future visits and purchases here. Highly recommend.

This was our favorite winery on our(short) Napa trip. We especially liked the Legacy 1810 and #Bromance. Jason Elkin is a great marketer, really funny, and I expect him to be very successful!

One of the best tasting experiences we have had in a long time. We drove up without a reservation on a Monday & were hospitably welcomed in. Young lady«helping» us was such a joy to be around. She was charming & funny. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the vineyard & told us many interesting stories. We set on a beautiful deck with amazing views. It is one of the oldest family owned wineries. The wine maker is the great grand son of the original owner & we got to meet him as well.(He also signed bottles of wine that we bought!) This winery has great wine which they produce in a very small amount. They really care about quality rather than quantity. We had an absolutely lovely time & will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Anne and I had a fabulous time at David Fulton Winery with Richard and Delina. The wines are very good. We learned allot about the oldest winery in California. They produce only a small amount, but their wine is awesome. Very flavorful, smooth and each has their own story. The wines are priced very well and will go very well with dinner or any foods. They have allot of history to tell about the winery and about how the wines are made along with the process. It is very cool and I highly recommend visiting this winery.

Oldest vineyard of Napa Valley that is both sustainable and organic. Five generations of wine maker’s have been producing wine at this family run winery. After tasting their library I can see why they have been the most business for so long. Total case production is less than 1k and you can taste the difference in the flavor profile of each wine. Our host was Richard a fifth generation of grower for this property. Slightly gruff, he warmed up as the tasting went on. Tried a variety of reds, each more flavorful than the last. Their ‘port’ was smooth and not shockingly sweet. It what wines at a small production vineyard should taste like. We also left our email with Delina and hope she will contact us when the time have wine club openings and/or they start selling they vines as artwork. Great wines and unique tasting experience.

We made reservations, showed up 10 min before our appointment time only to find out that NOONE was there. Completely deserted! Just a huge moth in the restroom to welcome us. We walked around the property, called them but no answer. Waited another 15 min and finally someone drove up when we were about to walk out. The gentleman was surprised that no one was there to greet us as well. Some sort of mixed up on scheduling perhaps? Anyhow, we decided to stay since we had already invested about 30 min of waiting and also knowing that they are the oldest winery around. They specialize in Petite Sirah so that’s mainly what we had. Their special edition was the best one since I like the sweeter tasting one. Too bad they had none for sale!

We heartily recommend a visit to David Fulton Winery, not only for the very good wines, but for the authentic, rustic experience that is increasingly rare in Napa Valley. Service was very friendly and down to earth, and we were even able to meet the owners Fulton Mather and his wife, Dink. Our first tasting was from a vineyard next door to David Fulton, called Jana Winery. We started with the 2010 Jana Winery Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc at $ 22. 322 cases were produced. A pale straw in color, it had a light melon aroma. On the palate it was a full melon, not the more usual Napa grapefruit or lemon. It was clean, crisp and dry but not tart, with some minerality and no herbaceousness. It had a very nice, medium length finish of melon with some lemon. This SB would be nice as a stand alone or would pair great with chicken. It is a very nice Sauvignon Blanc for the price. Our second sample was the 2009 Jana Winery Old Vine Mendocino Riesling at $ 22. 417 cases were produced. This is a fairly dry Riesling and quite decent, especially at the price. It was light straw in color. The nose was fairly light but pleasant and I got mostly gala apple. On the palate I got more of a Fuji apple and pear, with slight sweetness, but very well balanced. The finish was medium length. This is far better than most California Rieslings and from a winery I had never heard of. Nicely done. This was followed by the 2006 Jana Winery Old Vines Napa Valley Zinfandel at $ 35. 333 cases were produced. Dark burgundy in color, it had a great aroma of black cherry and spices with hints of raspberry and black currant. Medium plus in body, it was full of fresh fruit, mostly cherry and plum with great, well integrated tannins. The finish was long with cherry, plum, some chocolate and a touch of licorice. Highly recommended. I had never heard of Calafia Cellars either but we tasted their 2007 Calafia Cellars’ Napa Valley La Reina next. 125 cases were produced and it sells for $ 65 a bottle. This was a Bordeaux style blend that was dark burgundy in color with a distinct and pleasant to the eye purple tone. I go blackberry, vanilla and sweet oak on the nose. On the palate it was pleasantly soft but full flavored, with well integrated tannins, medium body plus, with cherry, black currant and hints of cedar. It had a good finish of mostly chocolate and cherry. Although it is very drinkable now, it should age well. Our final tasting was their famous PS, in this case the David Fulton Winery 2009 Old Vines Napa Valley Estate Petite Sirah at $ 45. This saw 75% new French oak and was dark, deep purple in color. After a very nice aroma of spice and cola I got a smooth but chewy, spicy, black cherry and blackberry on the palate, well structured, with a long finish of chewy cherry and black pepper. It is full flavored but not over powering as some PS can be. Although it is quite drinkable now, it will improve with age. This is a superior Petite Sirah. I’m sorry I missed it at the annual PS I Love You event this year, but will be sure to try it next year. For photos please see:

A family owned winery for over 100 years and one of the stops on our tour. We sampled some lovely whites and reds and had a picnic lunch on their patio overlooking the vineyards. It truly was a woderful experience and one we will always rememeber.

David Fulton Winery is a small family owned and operated vineyard in St. Helena that specializes in Petite Sirah… and they do it exceptionally well! They do not have the glamorous tasting room/come in and buy our junk arrangement that you find everyplace in Napa; instead you will get to sample their delicious wines in a working winery surrounded by the tools and people that are crafting future releases. Bring a picnic basket or other treats to enjoy on their deck. I highly recommend Rabbit Pâté and a nice baguette to go with the Petite Sirah… you may hear the angels sing! Tasting fees are applied to anything you buy. Small, intimate and non-pretentious; just a wonderful Napa Valley feel. Absolutely a place to visit if you want to explore the«Real Napa» Cheers!
