I go to waves once a week. I just moved to the area and so happy I found this Resturant. You must try the calamari and the funky monkey drink! Yum. They have such unique food, and everything is delicious on the menu from drinks to food.

Ugh. I was here for a friends birthday a few years ago and it was great. This time, not so much. I ordered the rib eye, which was oddly thin. I ordered medium rare and it was medium rare. I had 2 sides. One was cold, one was bland. The service was good. Our waitress was fine. But that $ 22 steak was not worth it at all. My friend with me described his pasta as ‘reheated frozen olive gardeny food’. No thanks.

The food was alright. Our server was a bit distracted and kept forgetting to bring us things(silverware, drinks). I was especially disappointed because my friend and I thought it’d be fun to split the small fishbowl because it said it was a «tropical version of a Long Island» but realistically it tasted like straight vodka and we couldn’t drink it because it was too strong. No flavor at all. A waste of a $ 20 drink

Just was here for my husbands birthday last week. The décor has changed as has the portions, food quality and waitstaff! So disappointing, husband ordered the panko perch, his favorite, got 3 small pieces for over $ 12 but at least this was hot. My son ordered the pretzel breaded white fish, nice portion but cold. I ordered the flank steak special. Ice cold, literally ice. Waiter took over 30 minutes to get our entrees out. Salads came fast and were good. After that, he was no where to be found. Kept hiding back in the kitchen entrance somewhere. The décor is no longer Hawaiian style which is sad. All nice décor has been replaced with bamboo flooring. Problem with that is, that it is not on the floors but the walls. Bad luck here. After 25 years, will scratch them off the list.

I used to love this place, but my recent experience wasn’t so great. The service was great! No problems there. The house salad is my favorite, but this time, they used fake cheese! Imitation cheese is the worst! And they changed the rolls too, they were fresh but tasted stale. Just seemed like the changes they made were not for the better. The décor was nicer than before, but the flavor of the food is more important than the décor. Not sure if I’ll be back for my favorite salad if they keep using imitation cheese.

Ordered take out, When I got there they asked me what I had ordered so they could make sure it was right. The airhead checked my order and said everything was there, in the bag. When I got home a part of my meal was missing. Seriously after you checked it.

Celebrated Easter today at the Waves Easter brunch. We had a big table of 7 with two babies in high chairs. Everything was perfect. Table and high chairs ready. Service by Rebecca was wonderful. Even though it’s a buffet, you still need drinks and plates cleared and they serve you dessert, it’s not part of the buffet but still included in the very reasonable price of $ 25.00 a person. The food!!! There’s not one bad thing to say about the food on the buffet. It was divine! For $ 25.00!!! Prime rib! Salmon! Periogies! It’s 8:00 at night and I’m still happily full. It’s our new Easter tradition for sure

I was excited to go here for the first time for dinner and was very underwhelmed by the menu. All seafood was either fried or smothered in sauce. They didn’t have any healthy options. I ordered the paella and the shrimp was so tough and rubbery. I won’t be back again

I was meeting up with a friend and read reviews on various restaurants. I was interested in a place by the water and decided to visit this place instead. There was a little wait although I had a reservation. It seems that this particular day is pretty crowded and there were a variety of events and parties. We had 2 places to be seated; in a seat close to the front door or a seat further in the back. We choose the back as the seating in the front would be around the entrance. The ambiance is colorful which gives yo a somewhat island feel. The waitress was nice and asked us if we had been here before and told us about the choices. I opted for the seafood combo. I decided to get some things broiled instead of all fried. My friend go the Cuban sandwich. We also got the calamari. Bread was also brought out which was pretty good. The calamari was different. It was in a tomato sauce and was unique and different than the typical Calamari. I enjoyed it. The seafood dish was also good. It was not the best but it was good. I especially was impressed by how the perch was prepared. I am not a huge perch fan but it was coasted with a light batter and was a little more mild than typical perch. The shrimp was also prepared well. I also had a piece of the Cuban sandwich which was prepared well. I will plan to visit some time in the future if I am in the area.

I have been going to Wave’s for the past 10 years, this was the first time I was disappointed in the the past ten years. Our bartender never told us her name we ordered drinks and never saw her again, she forgot to put in my oyster order and never said a word to us. Then for 45 minutes we waited to be cashed out, I guess she was gone we would have tipped her out seeing as she took our whole order and brought us our only drink, the other cocky bar tender who has been her for over 8yrs. Never thought to check on us seeing as his colleague left, which is normal for him final my wife piss said lets go… Really Wave’s management blind to this, come on I’ll never waste good money here, if I wanted to be ignored and treated like shit I’ll go spend my money at Taco Bell…

Had a nice Thanksgiving dinner /brunch here on Thanksgiving Day. Had reservations for Noon. We were seated at a nice long table off to the side, plenty of room for our family. Staff was extremely nice and we had waitresses for drinks and dessert. The buffet was large! with plenty of variety and it was delicious. I don’t think I tasted anything that was not wonderful. It became somewhat crowded, but nothing out of the ordinary. Everything was great, and the staff was very nice and attentive. This was a great holiday dinner /lunch!

Two months red meat free. Woot woot. After living in the area for 18 plus years I can finally say that I’ve gone to Waves. After hearing so much about it I’ve finally joined the club. My family and I went here for dinner. First off, the bread that was brought to the table was delicious. It was also so warm. It was perfect. Dad and sister both loved their salads. Sadly, dad’s French Onion soup was burnt. But points to our waitress. She not only offered to get him a new one but she took it off our final bill. Now my meal was delicious! I got the Apple Walnut Club Sandwich. The sandwich was just so moist that I didn’t need to use any condiments; and I love ketchup. I got mine without bacon. Mom got the Ensalade Estefani and my sister got the Mermaid Pasta. They both loved their meals. Overall our food was good and our waitress was a doll. The décor… I wasn’t a huge fan. The leather blue seats were out of date. I wasn’t a huge fan of the tiki theme. I’m over it. It could be updated so nicely.

Was going to a bowling benefit for my friend who passed away about a year ago and it was all the way on the east side of town, so me and one of my girlfriends decided to have dinner on Jefferson Avenue in St. Clair Shores. Was going to go to Jacks, but there were only 4 cars there on a Friday evening — nope not going there. So we are driving up Jefferson and lo and behold there was this cool looking restaurant on the left side — Waves. So, we decide to go to this place for dinner. The décor inside of course was nautical since we are on the Nautical Mile — why not! We are seated graciously and the waitress approaches us and takes our drink order. I am looking over the menu and really can hardly decide until I saw a T-bone steak!!! Yum, haven’t had one of those in a while. So, I order the T-bone steak medium. I don’t understand why most restaurants over cook the meat? Oh well. As in this restaurant the meat was overcooked — I would say medium well, hardly any pink! But, it was delicious none the less. Red skin potatoes as one of my sides and a delicious salad. The salad was remarkable! This restaurant is definitely a do again! Waves I will be back!

I don’t eat on the restaurant side of Wave’s very often, but when I have their specials(including shark) and fish have been very good. On the bar side, I love their nightly specials. Two of my favorites are ½ off apps of Wednesday(blackened grouper sliders, calamari and muscles are my favorite) as well as $ 2.50 build you’re own burger Thursdays and $ 2 domestics. Overall atmosphere is pretty good and food doesn’t usually disappoint.

Used to be here every week with the friends. Service was horrible and half the time had to go to the bar to get my drink instead of the waitress getting it for me. They offer a pretty nifty fish bowl drink that I thought was cool that you can split with a few friends. I recall the salads being decent. I would not go here as a night spot anymore but lunch with the girls… have to think about it.

So far so good! First time: I have been to Waves a couple of times with a few people. I had Grilled Chicken Caesar salad. It was very good. The dressing was very good, chicken was juicy and cook well. They also included their rolls, mmmmh! My friend got the pasta and tomato gorgonzola soup, which I stole a bit of, also good. *carryout Second time: Went back and had the Very Best Cuban Sandwich. It was delicious! I loved it. The seasoned fries are tasty, not like the steak fries like a lot of places serve. Service was nice and I was able to get in out for lunch. *dine in I would definitely go back.

A beach restaurant in the Shores. There is a large dance floor and some… interesting females who go to this place. I guess I can say the same for many dudes who go there as well. Prices are satisfactory and it’s probably better on a weeknight than a weekend due to the sheer amount of idiots who make their way there. It’s an interesting crowd, that’ for sure… I saw a tranvestite male hit on a married woman my first time there. That was great people watching.

Food is decent, very spotty. Some things are excellent(calamari), some things are horrible(weird chicken/pork chop recipes, over cooked pork chops… Taste like they were made hours ago and just re-warmed, extremely dry). Their service isn’t much better. Very poorly ran. It can’t make up its mind if it wants to be a nightclub, or a decent family restaurant, and it doesn’t make the transition from restaurant to night club very well. The DJ gets there whenever he feels like, starts«warming up» whenever he feels like it, they awkwardly move tables around while you’re eating, etc. Weekend nights bring a rough crowd. Lots of fights and the thug bouncers don’t help anything. Poor security, crappy crowd, but can be a good time on the right night.
