Was on spring break with my kids staying at the Ameristar casino we stopped at this aldi to get some snacks was checking out with horrible customer service wasn’t greeted at all while I was in line I hear her speak to everyone else(Caucasian) but when it was my turn NOTHING I had to say hello how are you and she barely wanted to respond back my kids were very observant and said wow mom she don’t like African American I had to pull them to the side and explain that their are still some racists people in our world. The cashier name on the ticket said Chris she was rude and the manager needs to be aware of her behavior with other race. And working with the public. Her not knowing who I was which I should’ve told her than maybe she would had a whole new attitude with me but I’m on vacation with my children it’s said that society still have people like her(Chris) working with the public out here.

Wow, this Aldis is really changed since the last time I have been there. Nice and clean the time I visited. Great food selection. Food was in good condition as well. Management must be different.

I wasn’t sure what kind of experience I would have when I decided to stop in at this Aldi. I haven’t been to one in YEARS… and on top of that I probably have only been to ONE in my lifetime. After this excursion, I count two! That didn’t stop me from coming in to check out the«deals» though. The food options are a hit and a miss, depending on what you are looking for. I distinctly remember picking up a 2 lb bag of cuties mandarins for $ 2.99. Not only were they dirt cheap, they ended up tasting awesome. I did find some other awesome deals, such as their pistachio bag, but then there were some meh items. The pita crackers were only meh because they look good and taste OK, but they barely give you any. The bag was probably ¼ full. Lame. That seemed to be the case for some of their other«deals». I almost bought the generic Aldi version of my multigrain cheerios, but then realized it wasn’t really that spectacular of a deal. Hrmf. I don’t think I’d ever consider buying my meat from Aldi, even though I hear Aldi and Trader Joe’s are one in the same… I still won’t buy meat from Aldi and I stand firm on that. The worst thing about this Aldi, or maybe it was actually the best thing, was seeing all the townies and ill mannered folks walking around the store. Guess I’m so used to shopping at Costco for bulk foods, so much so that I have gotten spoiled and hardly get to see the«extra special» people of St. Louis… well unless I happen to desperately need to go to Walmart, which is almost never. Oh and BTW they do not take Credit Card… That was something I didn’t expect. I could make some jokes about this, but alas, Costco does the same thing. Overall, Aldi has some good deals here and there, but I wouldn’t go to do my primary grocery shopping here.

I love Aldi. It has great food and selection for a great price. Think you are too«good» to shop at Aldi? Well you are not, you are just like anyone else and you should be ashamed if you answered«Yes» to that. I love avocados. They are $ 1.29 each at Dierbergs, they are $ 1.09 each at Schnuck’s, and $ 0.89 at Aldi… for the same exact brand and everything. Bumble Bee oysters are $ 2.29 at Schnuck’s and only $ 1.69 at Aldi. The savings adds up quickly. That’s how it rolls at Aldi. If you research the suppliers you will find that they are generic national brands. Now, not everything is a win at Aldi, but most things are, so swallow your pride and check them out. You will not be disappointed and you will save 25−30%!!! You bag your own stuff like Shop n’ Save. That’s the only reason they get(4) stars.

What can I say about Aldi that you don’t already know? I’m not sure either, but here is a list of pros and cons. Pros: This location is clean. The employees are nice. It’s predictable what you will find with the occasional highlight. They have a lot more items then they used to five years ago when I wouldn’t have been caught dead in an Aldi. They make you pay for bags.(I hope this encourages people to recycle.) The prices are more than reasonable. Their hummus is yummy. Cons: The parking lot sucks, but that is for any business located in this plaza. There is usually a braty kid causing a scene or a kid running around like a madman with the parents going about their business like this is normal behavior for public. The fresh fruit and veggies go bad fast. The lines can be long and I usually only have a few items. Not too shabby!
