As You Wish DJ Service

I was not very happy with my experience with DJ Joey. Joey was great at first, quickly responding, following up, etc. He seemed a litte disorganized when it came to attaching the right files etc. but I was looking forward to working with him after hearing such good things.
Joey asked for MUST play and Do NOT play lists which I gave him as well as a few artists for the cocktail hour and dinner and then the type of music I liked for dancing/​end of the night. He didn’t play country (a HUGE plus for us) but he didn’t play most of the songs we had on our must play list either (he played one song of seven, and it’s not like the songs we requested were uncommon dj songs– I don’t know a single dj that doesnt have Don’t Stop Beliving in his library). I was frustrated when I specifically said no corny wedding music and he pulled out Cmon ride the Train– aka worst song ever and he played Luther Vandross for the only other slow song of the night besides our special songs. No offense to those fans of Luther Vandross, but it didn’t fit our wedding and we had a different slow song on our must play list that ourselves and our crowd would’ve enjoyed more.
He honestly kept the schedule pretty well and kept people on the dance floor (but with our group its hard to keep us off the dance floor). I was just frustrated that I took a lot of time coming up with songs we wanted and the feel we wanted and the whole email I sent was relatively ignored. Plus the special songs I wanted played because they reminded me of special moments with specific friends or family (5 of the 7 must play were personal to me and my group) and they didn’t get played.
Also he said he was going to call the week of the wedding to go over stuff and when he didnt I emailed to follow up and he said «It’s all good» with no additional details. I wonder if that phone call would’ve happened, if I would’ve been much more satisfied with the outcome of the music that night.

The previous review by Matt S. pretty much says it all. Joey made the time to meet with us twice before our wedding, and was also quick to respond to emails. We were given all of the opportunity in the world to customize his services any way we saw fit, including which songs we definitely did or did not want to hear, the ordering of the events, etc.
Being pretty easy going in that regard, we left it to him to come up with the music and the timing of everything — we figured that he would know better than us what works. It turned out to be a great decision, he kept the party moving consistently and we never experienced any lulls. I also appreciated the little touches like him telling us to give him a «sign» after the bouquet and garter toss if we thought the resulting pair would be too awkward for the guy putting the garter on the girl.
We had a lot go right at our wedding — as a matter of fact, not a single thing went wrong, as surprising as that is. Joey’s part in that was significant. The DJ at a wedding has to be good, he has to have the pulse of the crowd. He has to be able to adapt, and he has to make sure the party is seamless and fun for the entire four hours.
Joey was perfectly suited to the task. We owe him big for making our wedding reception as perfect as it was.

I had contacted many different local DJ’s and companies, but was immediately impressed with DJ Joey, who runs As You Wish. He took the time to meet my wife and I to discuss our plans for the reception, even as he was getting ready to get married himself. He listened to what we wanted, gave suggestions, and quoted us a great price for what we had wanted. SO glad we decided on DJ Joey and As You Wish.
He gave us a great checklist to fill out, and we were able to pick songs we wanted played, songs we did NOT want played, recommendations, and he took care of the rest. Very easy going and great to work with, he gave us an amazing reception, and had EVERYONE on the dance floor, having a great time. He was able to direct the wedding party to where they needed to be, introduced everyone, and kept the party flowing exactly as we had wanted. All the songs we had requested were played at the right time, he delivered a great mix of dance and slow songs, and kept everyone entertained. Awesome sound and light show to go along with the great music, as well! I heard NUMEROUS people tell me he was the best DJ they’d ever seen at a reception.
DJ Joey does weddings, as well as corporate parties and all other parties you would want a DJ for, so give him a call or send him an e-​mail and let him know what you’re looking for. This guy is amazing– great job at a great price, and is incredibly professional, as well as friendly. He will listen to what you want, give you what you want, and I highly recommend this guy and his service for any DJ event you would want.
