Stopped in because it’s attached to our hotel. Very happy with quality, price and amazed by how quick the food came out. They were busy, and food came out quick, hot and fresh. Will be back next time we are in town.

I always question a restaurant when A) the patron has to initiate a hello from the staff upon entering, and B) your hot food comes out in under 3 minutes of ordering. That does not indicate fresh or made to order. The guacamole had already oxidized and was brownish on arrival… frozen margaritas are pre made(didn’t know prior to ordering) and my chimichangas were too thick and pretty bland. Server recommended this menu choice. Melted cheese(suiza??) and rice weren’t bad at all, especially together. Service was underwhelming. Wouldn’t come back unless I came with a group.

Dined here two nights in a row and very good experience both times. Had Carne Asada one visit and Chile Relleno and enchilada the next. Salsa is very good… as good as any I’ve ever had.

The table chips were good — table salsa was great. Service was decent but not fully accommodating. The food was EXTREMELY overpriced for the quality. I have had way better mexican. If it was $ 6 plates I would come back but I had a combination beef plate — at almost $ 11 it was almost laughable. Probably won’t go again.

I have been going here since this placed opened many years ago. I saw some of the negative reviews. The food has always been great. Occasionally they lose Chefs like any restaurant, but their food always gets back to the same great food. The staff is very friendly and welcomes everyone. If you are a regular here you are always remembered and welcome back. I saw the comment made; «The wait staff is really nice and very handsy. They love to touch you on the back, on the arm. Kind of odd.» Try figuring out cultural differences before you leave a rude comment. By the way they do have some americanized mexican food, get a clue its a Mexican restaurant in America!!! This is authentic Mexican cuisine. The quality was top notch and the service is great. They have a top notch staff here. Prices are reasonable. The décor will make you feel that you are south of the border. Certainly worth trying.

This pace always feels dirty when I go in. It just feels greasy. The wait staff is really nice and very handsy. They love to touch you on the back, on the arm. Kind of odd. The food is ok. It’s Americanized Mexican food.

This use to be a good place to eat. About a year ago after several times of subpar food said wouldn’t be back. Just wasn’t worth it for poor quality mex food when other mex places in town have better food. After a year thought we would give it another try. Sadly the food quality has declined even more. On the plus side we’ve always gotten great friendly service at all 3 Xochis in town. Waiters have always been better than the other mex places in Spfld. The other places’ waiters could learn from these folks. I just wish the food would go back to the way it use to be. Maybe we’ll try it again in a year or so to see if food has improved.

Everything was great, until they brought out the flan-covered in whipped cream & chocolate sauce, it resembled a slice of pumpkin pie. I’m a flan purist. No whipped cream or chocolate sauce, they completely ruined it. It wasn’t very flavorful either. YUCK.

I think that some of these people are a little too hard on this place. The service was very good and the food wasn’t bad… acually it was pretty good. I would eat here again. You don’t have to write a negative review every time.

You are all prissy snobs. They have rhinoceros-sized Margaritas and play Aventura. Also, the guac is yuuummy.

The chips and salsa are the highlight. The prices are low as well. Otherwise, the place is unremarkable but decent if you are at a nearby hotel.

Well, I’m yet to have good Mexican in Springfield. Won’t be back again. Horrible vegetables, bad rice, and everything else was just okay. Only go if you have to.

I have to disagree with the other comments listed. This is the best Mexican restaurant in town by far! It is a local favorite to many people in the Springfield area. The food is amazing, and you can never eat enough of their awesome salsa and chips. The staff is always friendly and very welcoming. You must try the chimichangas and fajitas! Try it out if you have never been here, you will walk out happy and satisfied!

The only reason why this restaurant, if you want to call it that, is still in business is because it is attached to a glorified motel. Though the staff was nice, they were more interested in watching TV than serving the guests. The food might as well have been frozen wanna-be Mexican food cooked in a gas station microwave.

Unbelievably bad. Went to this place in early April on a Friday while in town for the Easter egg hunt at gov’s mansion. Their margaritas were great, however, all the food we ordered was either a) grossly, ridiculously overpriced, b) on a plate so hot that my 11 yo daughter burned her arm, or c) made with liquid cheese that comes in large coffee cans. The nachos my kids ordered did have the offending liquid cheese on them, which, while perfectly acceptable for some foods,(cheesedogs, yum!) I would think have no place in a mexican restaurant. These nachos also had some sort of ‘meat’ product masquerading as ground beef. We ordered some quesadillas, at $ 3.75. Now, I should have noted the menu item was singular — quesadilla — because for the price of $ 3.75, we received a single tortilla, folded in half, with cheese in it. Nothing added, just cheese. For $ 3.75. Seriously. Even the waiter had a hard time keeping a straight face when I asked him about it. My husband and I shared the fajitas which were just basic, nothing special and certainly not enough to make up for the craptastic other items we ordered. Further, my 8 yo had the mac and cheese and apple sauce from the kids menu for 3.99 — both items came in small, 3.5″ ramekins, ridiculously small portions to be billed as a ‘meal’ and ludicrously over priced. Why this place has 3 locations in Springfield is beyond me. Any half-way decent taqueria in Chicago blows this place out of the water in both taste and definitely in price. If you want to get ripped off, have at it. Otherwise, stay away from this place.
