A hip coffee shop. It’s in an old house, so there are a few different rooms where you can sit. A cool vibe.

Great coffee, nice atmosphere and location. Always glad to find a quality coffee shop like this one when travelling. Good selection of board games if you’re looking to lounge a bit. Raining the day we were in town, but it looks like there’s a nice bocce ball court adjacent.

Stopped in for a coffee before leaving town recently. For those of us in the south Chicago suburbs, where Starbucks is really the only option for a coffee house, this place exceeds the bar. Much larger than your average Starbucks. Looked to be ample seating and tables(even a big one for group projects). The staff was friendly and the coffee was terrific.

Enjoyed good coffee and Cinnamon bun on cold day — welcoming spot after Lincoln House, and so convenient. These people know their coffee. Recommended.

Stopped in after work with a group to enjoy a few drinks on a cool evening. Sat outside in the garden, our friends enjoyed drinks from the neighboring establishment but I really wanted something nonalcoholic and hot. Tried the caramel latte and it was excellent, will definitely have it again and will recommend it to others.

Best coffee shop in Springfield. Hand’s down! It’s right across from Lincoln’s home so it has a great historic vibe, especially being in an old house that at some time had something to do with Lincoln. The baristas can tell you all about it! And speaking of baristas, they’re great! All of them! The trifecta coffee is perhaps the best, especially if you use Dominican beans. I love coming here to sit in the comfy chairs and read or hang out for good conversation. There are also tables you can sit at and work while plugging in your computer and juicing up on the free wi-fi. Simply a great place. (I hesitate to post such a great review for fear that this place will become overrun… because there just isn’t anything else like it in Springfield! But, all good secrets eventually get out.)

Wm Van’s is the best coffee shop in Springfield. Great location, fun atmosphere, excellent menu and great coffee. I have sampled a few different coffee and espresso drinks and found them all to be very good. I have also found it a good place for doing work while sipping coffee. The tables are nice and solid; there are plenty of power outlets; and the noise level is not overwhelming. I would definitely come back and I would certainly recommend it!

Stopped in at Wm Vans this past weekend while on break waiting for our tour of the Lincoln home. At first I was concerned it was a possible tourist stop but given that Unilocalers don’t tend to review those places as well we have it a shot and did not disappoint. My favorite part about this place was the vibe. Looks like an old home but inside has the ambience of a neat sleek modern coffee shop but with an older style flair. Several rooms give folks privacy and I could easily see myself hanging out here for hours. The service was excellent and super nice. Pastry selection looked awesome– we had a brownie that was rich. My latte was decent– a little strong for my taste but did the job. A bunch of folks in other reviews mention the pour overs. Next time I will try that.

Just across 7th Street from the Lincoln Homesite so a great place to stop in before or after a visit. My sister and I had the Greek yogurt parfait which were fresh and very good. We were proud of ourselves for getting something healthy because they also have a great selection of pastries! I also had an Irish breakfast tea and Amanda, who waited on us, actually left plenty of room for milk in my teacup like I requested! We sat outside on the back porch but there is plenty of seating inside as well as on the front porch and on picnic tables in the back beer garden. Perfect place to take a load off and grab a cuppa and a little something to eat.

I’ve been to my fair share of coffee shops in Springfield, and this is by far my favorite. The coffee is great, the food is good, and the staff is really nice. I’ve tried a variety of their lattes, and they are always very well made. I love breakfast sandwiches, and theirs always fit the bill. And they have good music playing and a cool interior, which is always a plus.

One of my favorite places in Springfield! These people know coffee and will make you whatever beverage you desire with an artisan flair. Pour-overs(especially the Bali Kintamani) are my favorite, as well as cold-brewed iced coffee. The atmosphere is charming and comfortable with club chairs in one room, tables for working at your laptop in the others. My only tiny constructive criticism is the music. It’s usually fitting the atmosphere, but occasionally you’ll get something one barista might really like but assaults my ears. Like that one Bjork album where she literally screams for an entire song. Yikes. But that’s really a complaint about Bjork, not William Van’s. Anyway, love it! Go there often. Highly recommend it.

Great ambience with reliable internet and yummy drinks. Had the vanilla ice cream and vanilla steamer — both were delicious and I would highly recommend them! Inside feels very spacious but also cozy.

Located in a rather unassuming location in downtown Springfield, we happened upon Wm Van’s Coffee while we were waiting for our time to tour the Lincoln home. When we walked in, it was like coffee nirvana. The smell of coffee permeated the air and the atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. The establishment is bigger than it looks from the outside, and apparently the house was moved from one location to its current location. The menu featured several types of coffee types and flavors, as well as iced teas, pastries, and sandwiches, all which appear to be made on premises. I had a Cappuccino and a cheesecake, my wife had the Raspberry iced tea and a pastry of some kind. Our beverages were prepared by staff that appear to take pride in what they do(as opposed to other big coffee chains, who use the assembly line approach), as the Cappuccino had a nice floral design on the top. The staff was busy, but not too busy to answer our questions or to give suggestions. We sat and had our midday snacks and found it to be very relaxing amidst the daily grind going on outside. If you’re looking to step outside of the corporate coffee world for something local, made with care and pride, and served in a location loaded with personality, Wm Van’s is your place.

I rolled into Vans for some coffee before catching my train back to Chicago. What a rewarding choice over Starbucks or even Café Moxo down the street. I can say with confidence that this café is the best in Springfield, and strides ahead of any other in a 60 mile radius. I ordered the Bali pour-over per the advice of the friendly baristas, and was impressed. The coffee was roasted by a quality roaster out of Minneapolis, and would easily compete with some of my favorite roasters in Chicago and Milwaukee. Yet priced appropriately for Springfield at $ 3. Their were definite tones of cherry and almonds. They also roast their own blends, which I tried a sip of and was also pretty decent. I greatly appreciated the options of both local and regional. The atmosphere is a fantastic blend of vintage-modern, incorporating many historic elements of Springfield in a tastefully artistic fashion. Bottom line: Go enjoy a cup of coffee or espresso at Vans! This joint will not disappoint!

Skip the hotel Starbucks and walk two blocks to this perfect coffeehouse. Pour-overs, French press, pastries, breakfast sandwiches. There is no excuse not to come here. Spent a very relaxing pre-conference morning sipping and talking. Loved it.

After a long day taking family from out of town to the Lincoln Museum, I was pleasantly surprised to come across this place. My Aunt is vegan and we were struggling to find a place around the Lincoln stuff to get something to eat. We wandered in here by chance(right across from the parking lot of the Lincoln Home site) and they had a hummus wrap that she was able to order. I got a standard turkey sandwich and some chips. The food was exactly what we were looking for, simple and fresh. It’s a really cool old building and there are plenty of tables if you’re looking to hang out for awhile. The service was friendly and quick and the coffee is good as well. I can’t speak for the ice cream, I didn’t get a chance to try it. This is now my go-to place anytime I have to go back to Springfield and show more family the wonders of Lincoln.

Just what Springfield needed! I am a coffee lover originally from Springfield but now live in St. Louis, which is spoiled with cute little coffee shops strewn about the city. My Mom, Dad, and I came here a few weekends back. My Dad and I both went for a latte(caramel for me and vanilla for him, both with 2% milk) and my Mom went for a cream puff. The lattes were made well and topped with some nice latte art. I can’t say it was the best latte I have EVER had, but most definitely the best latte in Springfield. The milk was nicely steamed and just enough syrup was added, so it wasn’t overly sweet. In addition to my latte, I did snag a bite of my Mom’s creampuff which was pretty tasty. It was oozing with homemade whipped cream and was nice and puffy. I couldn’t have eaten a whole one on my own since it was pretty sweet, but a bite or two was delicious. Not only does this place have good food and drinks, but it is so gosh darn cute. Between the rustic wood, terrariums, and mason jars… it looks like a picture out of the latest issue of Pottery Barn. They definitely designed this place in line with all the current trends. I think my favorite piece of decoration is in the back room. Various pallets were attached together vertically with a faint portrait of Abe Lincoln in the background. I definitely plan on visiting WM Vans again next time I am in Springfield looking for a caffeine fix or just in the mood to read a book or cruise the web with a nice latte in hand.
