Not pleased! Ordered the fajitas for carry out. The menu says onions, bell peppers and Tomatoes… Well, no tomatoes. Hardly any veggies. Disappointed.

Decided to try here 1 more time to see if it has improved. It has not. Food was tasteless. Bland. The chilli relleno tasted more like a spinach quiche. My burrito was plain unseasoned hamburger in plain white wrap with a small amount of red sauce dribbled over it. Sunday is $ 5.99 jumbo margarita. They’re still using the same cheap tequila. We had strawberry which had a red color but no strawberry flavor. It had a strange after taste sort of like old used dishwashing water. That was the cheap tequila. The tequila pours are light which was OK since the tequila tastes so bad. On the positive the service was good. We’re done coming here. Springfield has no shortage of Mexican restaurants. Sadly none of the others are great Mexican restaurants but they’re better than LaFiesta.

Well they didn’t charge us for the crappy service in the crappy food that’s why they get two stars. We ordered the fajita nachos which they proceeded to spill all over the place when I brought them out. Accidents happen that’s OK but when we got a replacement it didn’t even look even close to the same as what they brought out the first time. They tasted disgusting. We asked for plates and jalapeños repeatedly never ever got them. So sad.

Best salsa in Springfield, good service and better priced than many, since this town is overrun with so many Mexican restaurants

I’m here from out of town for a work training — stopped here for lunch one day. I ADORE Mexican food, spicy, tasty, authentic Mexican food. This was kind of authentic, but a little bland. Chips were good, salsa was tomato-y and not very spicy. Veggie fajita quesadilla was HUGE, greasy, and didn’t have much cheese. I hardly touched the huge portion of beans and rice, but did enjoy the little shell filled with pico and guac. I asked for some homemade hot sauce to flavor my food, but it arrived tasting fermented and soured. My wife ordered combo #7 and the highlight for her was the chili relleno which was very cheesy and delicious. Overall huge portions for a low cost.

We live in the Midwest now, so I have learned to expect Mexican food to be bland and uninventive. I am pleasantly surprised every time we go to La Fiesta. The food is good, even if it does have to be toned down because of the local palette. Don’t come to Springfield and expect authentic Mexican food. We always have great service and love the décor.

Ok I try to be easy on places, but the food here was bland and without taste. It was really quite awful. I wanted to like this place. I love Mexican food, so I am partial to giving great reviews — but the food was really just that bad. Skip it and hit Taco Bell instead.

Get the Acapulco Special! The staff for the last two years have been incredible and he food is delicious. Related to El Toro in Champaign Urbana.

We are on town for a convention and decide to go to La Fiesta for Cinco de Mayo. The drink specials were awesome, and the food was incredible and very large portions. I would come here again!

My friends Burrito was ice cold in center despite sending it back twice. My chicken tacos were flavorless with unimaginative bland refried beans and iceberg lettuce on the side.

Friendly staff. About the only plus about the place. Authentic Mexican food is among my top favorite foods. I got Tacos de Carne Asada. It came with beans that appeared, smelled, and tasted like it was out of a can. I’m not saying it was from a can– I don’t know that for sure, but it was definitely my first thought when I looked at it, then smelled it, and even when I tasted it. Corn tortillas smelled kinda weird. Carne asada was okay. Salsa also seemed like it was out of a can with fresh onion and cilantro added. Overall, not into it. La Fiesta is absolutely among the lowest tier of Mexican restaurants I’ve tried.

I went here a few times, the food is very good. The service is also very good and for the price it can’t be beat.

I was curious whether I could get a good Mexican meal in Springfield. After all, you can get very good Mexican food in Chicago, which is only three hours away. After checking the internet, I realized that the pickings were slim. I picked La Fiesta because it had a good number of positive reviews on Unilocal, and apparently few bad ones. I arrived on a Saturday night and the place was very busy and rushed. The staff was running around like crazy. I ordered the chicken with mole sauce, which is usually one of my favorite dishes. My wife ordered a vegetarian fajitas, which I already thought was a mistake. What I received was a grilled chicken fillet lightly drizzled with a very thin and uninteresting sauce. My wife got a lot of food, but the grilled vegetables were tasteless. The rice and beans were OK, and the margaritas were large, potent and reasonably priced. Although we didn’t order the usual burritos, tacos, etc. that might have been most peoples choice, I did leave with the the feeling that this was another Mexican restaurant that tries excessively to appeal to «American» tastes. A disappointment.

The number one thing at this restaurant to me was the service! They did a great job! I got the #14 combo and changed the enchilada from beef to chicken. The enchilada was amazing! The burrito and tamale we just fine. Good chips, salsa and white cheese sauce. For a random stop off the highway on the way to St Louis from Chicago, it was a very pleasant surprise!

I thought I reviewed this place already? No? Alright then, here goes. I wasn’t a big Mexican food consumer until I moved to Southern California(where my husband is from). My husband, having lived in Socal and grown up on California Burritos and Carne Asada burritos, as well as experiencing real street tacos in TJ wanted to see what Springfield had to offer in the way of Mexican food. We went there in the summer and it was so-so. I think that had more to do with what we ordered though(quesadillas) because we went again recently and it was delicious! He deemed it just as good, if not better, than some of the Mexican places in San Diego. He had the Guadalajara Special and I had the Fajita Quesadilla(there’s no quesadilla involved, just a delicious fajita and lots and lots of rice, beans, guacamole and other Mexican«fixins»). Portions are HUGE but we both managed to fit over ¾ of our meals in our bellies and should have rolled ourselves slowly out to the car for fear of accidentally tripping, falling and popping like balloons. Oh, and try their margaritas. They use cheap tequila so it does burn those with sensitive throats like myself, but if you don’t mind it the mango blended margaritas are my FAVORITE. Ooooo yum. They have $ 1.99 margaritas all day Tuesday and $ 5.50JUMBO margaritas all day Friday. I wonder if they would put some of the top shelf tequila in it instead, I’d definitely pay a little more not to have it feel like icy razors rolling down my throat. Prices otherwise are really reasonable and the staff are very welcoming, kind and funny. The second time we were there 2 other tables had a birthday song sung to them and it was HILARIOUS. All I will say is that I highly recommend it. It’s fun! 5 stars because there is absolutely nothing lacking with this place. Love it!

Some good — Some bad; Went a little after 8pm. Place was about half filled. I definitely was shocked with the amount of service a table gets. They were fast, friendly, and multiple people came to either check our food, situation, drinks, etc. We ordered off the combination menu which price wise this is incredible! Even the margarita specials/reg prices were insane. As far as quality, you unfortunately are paying for what you get. Nothing really stands out a ton. The salsa/chips were pretty good, felt like they were the freshest part of the meal. The èntres were merely mediocre at best. Not greasy which was a huge plus, but still a bit bland and could appeal to most tastebuds. Good news is they have other sauces/seasonings on the side of the table. Proportions were great for the price and were definitely of value. My stomach handled the food well. It wasn’t too light/too heavy by any means. The atmosphere is fun and pretty low key. Not too loud of music, but loud enough to hear. If you are having a birthday it’s pretty incredible scene for you or those around you. In overall, for price/proportions X quality = Above Average and I would definitely go back again. –Ian

Pretty good Mexican food. Nothing out of the ordinary, but seems to have a fair grasp on things. Chips and salsa were better than most. Wait time was not long, both for a table and for our food. Everybody seemed to enjoy whatever they ordered. I was taken back a bit when my fajitas came out. This is the FIRST time I can ever remember not having fajitas coming out sizzling on a cast iron skillet, making a scene with all the smoke and sizzle. Kind of a dull sight to see the plate full of mish-mosh, sauteed chicken, vegetables, and beans and rice. Don’t get me wrong, they were still good, but definitely missed the boat for presentation. For $ 7.00 though, I’m not going to argue. Their lunch menu is bigger than most, and for the price, it’s well worth any minor discrepancies. Stop in and check it out for yourself. You shouldn’t be disappointed.

The best thing about LaFiesta is definately their salsa… WOW, this stuff is remarkable! Our waiter was very friendly, and prompt. Kept the drinks full… etc. I’ve been to this restaurant a few times now, and other than the salsa, their main dishes are just average. This day we went for a friends birthday at lunch. Normally a Mexican restaurant is more than speedy at lunch. On this day we waited approx. 15 minutes after he took our order for our food. When it arrived — the 2 girls had the lunch chicken fajitas, they both said they were very good. I had the combination, 1 taco, enchilada, & rice. Just OK. I would order what they had or something else. I would not seek this place out, but if the group I went with were going, I could find something edible on the menu.
