Came here with my hubs and brother in law who was visiting from out of town. I found the place because of it’s awesome rating for sushi in Springfield area. The sushi was pretty awesome even though I am not a big sushi eater! :) Whatever tea I had there was the best tea I’ve ever had! I wish I knew the name of it! Tried looking for something similar at Wegmans and Whole Foods and haven’t found the same type of tea yet!

The rolls here are amazing if you stick to the menu. They are still good if you ask them to alter slightly but the rolls are very loose. The peanut dressing is amazing! Make sure the wait staff takes your entire order. There seems to be somewhat of a language barrier. Last two times we visited they forgot to serve us several things we ordered. Best sushi around!

Beautiful plattering tonight! It is always a good idea to ask chef about the fresh fish of the day. Aster, you may use my pic.

This place was okay, the rice for the sushi was kind of small. The service was good and quick but I was the only customer there. The dressing for the salad was interesting, I didn’t like it much but that’s just me. I wouldn’t go there again because there are better sushi places for around the same price range.

Middle of the road, but good for the Springfield area. I stood alone in the restaurant for several minutes before I decided to grab a menu and seat myself; there was no direction to the contrary. The chilly attitude from the waitress, when she showed up, seemed to indicate that I should have stayed standing. My order was prepared within an appropriate amount of time. I got an Eel roll, a Salmon roll, and two pieces of Mackerel sashimi. The salmon was of an equal quality to Wegman’s sushi. I liked the Eel roll, it was very savory. My tea wasn’t refilled until just after I paid for my meal, by a second waitress who had just clocked in. Overall, it was a nice, clean restaurant with a tasty meal, but I probably won’t be back.

The reviews don’t lie, this place is delicious! They give big, fat cuts when you order sashimi. It’s incredible. The Sushi A Combo came out as a beautiful display with several sauces including sriracha. So delicious! Now I’m hungry again… They also give teacher and military discounts.

I wish I could give this place a better review. I had the sashimi A which had 15 pieces. Their sashimi wasn’t as fresh as I hoped. It was also salty on the bottom of it. Not only that, it was incredibly chunky which hinders and doesn’t bring out the actual flavor of the meat. The presentation was great though and they were very quick in bringing out the food. They also had miso soup and salad that came with the meal. All in all, I would come back just to give them another chance but I’m most likely going to order something else.

Nice, casual place to get some fresh fish. The fish cuts were thick and generous in the chirashi. Actually, they were the thickest cuts I’ve seen in any sushi restaurant in Northern VA. The spicy scallop roll wasn’t spicy at all, but had a decent amount of scallop, and was tasty. My friend ordered a specialty roll which I can’t name, but it was huge and tasty as well. Service is friendly and they refill your water/tea quickly. We did have a problem understanding what our server was saying(too fast? too slurred?) but the manager came by and checked on us several times to make sure everything was fine.

I had lunch on my first time here. It was very good! We ordered the Baltimore, Super Nova, and Bora Bora rolls. I love spicy and anything with jalapeño, so the Super Nova was my favorite(and recommended!). I’ll definitely be back! They also have discount for military, police, and firefighters.

I’m from Springfield, so I was pleasantly surprised that they opened up a sushi bar /restaurant down the street from my house! I have been to many sushi restaurants in the area, as well as in other states such as New York and Pennsylvania, and countries(Japan, South Korea, Canada), and this is by far, one of my favorite! I am not just saying that because it’s local to me, but I am saying that because of the freshness and quality of the cuts. My determining factor is through getting sashimi(just the fish itself). Eating it raw, no soy sauce or anything fancy to mask the taste. I saw that they had Toro(Fatty Tuna) on the menu, so I went ahead and got that. I placed the toro and used my tongue to press it against my palate(top of my mouth) and it melted in my mouth, just like butter on a warm pan. It was also fresh! I also ordered the Sake Salmon. Again, same method and it melted in my mouth. Oh, I recommend the Unagi nigiri too(Eat it as-is, no soy sauce)! They even gave me a California Hand Roll and miso soup, on the house! How cool is that? If you check in, you may receive a free gift! For me, it was a coupon for one free hot green tea! Yummo. This place gets a 5 star from me!

This place is good. Im usually a picky eater, so giving a 4 starts means it is worth it. I order to go, but the service is still really nice and polite. I order a dragon roll and california roll. It is really goood. The food is fresh, unlike other places where it is already made and they just have to assemble it. The shrimp tempura was warm and the unagi is warm. Unlike yechon,(where they microwave the unagi, which makes it burn the tail off, making it hard at the end and the shrimp was not fried immediate) this place is not like that. The unagi is nice and the shrimp is warm and crispy. The avocado is frrsh and green. The bento box seem very cheap(like $ 10 for chicken teriyaki, including salad, miso soup, shrimp and vegetable tempura, rice and SIX piece california sushi) thats really cheap.(Compare to yechon, they only give you 1 piece california sushi) sadly… theres no to go :( The place is really nice and clean, the asmoshphere is so calm and romantic. It would be a lovely place for couples. I will come back again. The only cons to this place is the price, but all sushi place is expensive.

3.5ish stars, rounded to 4. I liked Kana. It’s small, simple, clean and the food was good :) It’s not like the most amazing sushi you’ve ever had, but if you’ve got a hankerin for some sushi, why not? I got the kana roll? and sashimi platter with my bf. It was too much food for us. Yeah, we aren’t big eaters. I enjoyed the roll so much. Correct me if I am wrong with the name, but my roll had shrimp tempura, some imitation crab and it was topped with eel. They didn’t drench it in that spicy mayo either, thank GOODNESS! I wanted to try the cucumber wrapped appetizer instead of the roll, but since we were scarfing down a whole plate of sashimi, we decided on something cooked. i LOVEEEEEEEEEE sashimi, but raw fish does have that texture that I can get tired of. From the reviews, it seems like they have good/bad days. Maybe I came on a day that was bit better? Maybe I’ll be back, maybe not, it wasn’t totally memorable, but it also wasn’t totally forgettable either.

Small Sushi place(next to Sandwich Republic /Noodles &CO) This place is NOT for big groups or gathering. or for a place to sit down to lounge around. You come, eat fresh sushi and leave. Very Lunch time place or after work out quick bite. The sushi is very fresh and tasty. Pretty much everything worth trying and you will not disappoint.

Don’t be fooled– this quaint little sushi restaurant in the heart of Springfield Plaza is the business! With so many creative rolls and Japanese dishes to choose from, you’ll end up ordering virtually the whole menu! …Which I may or may have not done before… :X I personally love their cucumber appetizer and spicy salmon roll, but pretty much everything I’ve ordered has been tasty and unique. The servers also come around and offer samples of their new sushi roll creations, and of course anything free is an A in my book! Fresh sushi/sashimi, quick + friendly service, and delicious food– I can’t help but come back to this place, especially when I don’t feel like venturing out too far.

Here i am again, trying sushi from newly open places around my area. Luckily Kana did not disappoint. Kana is a small sushi joint in a strip mall owned by Koreans. It is conveniently located and offers decent fish. My family decided to dine in on a Thursday evening. One thing I noticed was many people placed to-go orders and picked it up rather then dining in. My family ordered various rolls and I ended up choosing the sushi and sashimi combo A which was priced at $ 22. The wait for the food was a bit long; however the waitress was kind enough to warn us and provided us complimentary edamame and a 4 pieces of sushi. My sushi and sashimi combo A came with 6 pieces of California roll, 3 pieces of salmon, tuna and some other sashimi and lastly surf clam, octopus, shrimp, crabmeat, salmon, and tuna nigiri. As I mentioned above, the quality of the fish is decent for the price. My father ended up going with the spicy tuna, salmon and California rolls which were just average. They weren’t spicy at all so that was disappointing. The other rolls were standard and nothing that differentiates them from other sushi places. The customer service here was excellent, drinks were refilled quickly and due to the long wait time we received many complimentary items. I will be returning when a spontaneous craving of sushi arises. Although I will most likely be calling in and placing a to-go order as it seems like that’s more time-friendly. Overall I am glad this place is here.

Kana Sushi is an OK choice for sushi in the Springfield area. I have found their staff to be very friendly, the food to be decent and the location to be easy to get to. The décor is minimalistic and slightly cold compared to other sushi restaurants I have been to. There are several tables up front, some at the sushi counter and more in the back of the restaurant. So, it is definitely a casual environment. They have a variety of specialty rolls. In fact, some are very different from anything I have ever had, so I applaud their creativity. Although I have noticed that some of the flavors of the fish can get muddled down in too much sauce on some of these, some of them are very good. That said, I have noticed that I often end up enjoying the sashimi and nigiri more than the rolls. It is clear they use quality ingredients and the simple presentation really lets the flavor of the fish shine. I also really like that they give you a small bowl of soup to start things off with, actually the first time we ate there they gave us two small complementary pieces of sushi, although they haven’t again since… so that might have just been our good fortune that one time. One last thing to note is you should try not to over order here, sadly their sushi rice dries up after even an hour in the fridge. So leftovers are a no go.

I’ve been here 4 times now and thought I should share my hidden secret gem! It’s a small no frills sushi and Japanese place. The place sits between Noodles & Co and Sandwich Republic. When you walk in, you’re greeted by friendly sushi dudes and a friendly wait staff. It looks fast foodie type but it’s actually full service with nice intimate tables in the back. They offer a nice lunch special of sushi and various teriyaki and katsu meals. Their sushi is very reasonable and fresh. They meal portions are quite generous. For the lunch specials, they include salad and miso. It’s a nice price for about $ 10. Dinner portions are definitely much larger and be prepared for carry out boxes. I’ve seen lots of take-out orders, and have picked up too. Everything is made fresh. I’m glad to see a place local to my home.

After ordering takeout here twice(and being quite impressed so far), I was able to dine in with my sisters this past weekend and I’m happy to report that Kana Sushi lives up to their positive reviews! The restaurant is located in the Springfield Plaza Center, in between Noodles and Company and Sandwich Republic. We ordered the cucumber appetizer to start, which was basically a roll itself with cucumber substituted for rice(I can already foresee this being a go-to for me because it’s a much healthier option than being wrapped around white rice). As for rolls, we ordered the Philly roll, Creamy Shrimp Tempura Roll, the Maryland Crab Roll, and the Spicy Scallop Roll. We were also given 3 individual rolls to try on the house and complimentary cups of miso soup. The sushi rolls were well presented and the fish was fresh! We also ordered the green tea ice cream and green tea mochi for dessert(I love green tea anything!). They have a wide variety of specialty sushi rolls in addition to hot and cold appetizers, sashimi, hand rolls, and a few entrees. Service was attentive and friendly. I’m so glad that Kana is so close to home because I’ll be sure to come back again soon.

Kana Sushi is a pleasant surprise and a the«new kid on the block» in Springfield Plaza. My sister and I were craving sushi and were running errands in the area. We decide to stop in and order some sushi to go. The staff was very friendly and immediately greeted us when we walked into the restaurant. They have a separate menu for sushi where you can choose how much of each sushi order you want as well as their regular menu. Kana’s regular menu has typical items you would find in sushi restaurants ranging from soup, dumplings, and ramen. My sister and stuck to our gut and just ordered sushi. This is what we ordered: spicy tuna roll, yellowtail roll, and soft shell crab roll. While we waited. it gave me chance to observe the restaurant. It’s a small space but they utilize their space well. They have seats by the sushi prep station so you can choose to sit there and watch the chefs craft your sushi. We also noticed that if you dine in and order sushi, you get salad and miso soup as well. Our sushi was ready in about 15 minutes. I loved how they packed everything and even included some greens in the box. The staff also gave us some miso soup on the house which was a great bonus. The sushi itself was well made and tasty. The fish tasted fresh and their rice was seasoned well. I also enjoyed the soft shell crab roll. Prices are reasonable as for sushi restaurants. Service was fine for take out and looked like it would be fine if we ate their too. I would definitely consider coming back for sushi.
