Happy Valentines Day! Wonderful meal. We had our normal appetizer of filet wrapped asparagus– always great. After reading the reviews we also tried the peppadew peppers. Awesome! The rib eyes were cooked perfectly. Only 4 stars on this visit as the waitress was a bit disappointing. Fresh cracked pepper was never offered and we had to ask for bread. In addition she asked if we wanted dessert immediately after serving our steaks. She was definitely rushing us by never offering dessert again or after dinner drinks. Instead she just brought our ticket. She started clearing the table with my wife still eating and we had to ask for a carry out container.

Finally went to this place and I was not disappointed at all. The service was top notch. Very friendly hostess that was very professional. Our waitress was very nice, attentive and made sure we were happy throughout our entire meal. I’m very picky about my Prime Rib and she assured me it was some of the best in Springfield and also said that if I did not like it they would be glad to get me another entrée. Now that’s great service !!! The Prime rib was some of the best I have ever had, I like mine medium rare and it was perfect. My girlfriend likes her’s medium well and hers was perfect as well. I had the loaded mashed potatoes and they were delicious. It also came with horseradish sauce and fresh horseradish as well. That was a nice added touch. And the Aujus was heated under a candle to keep it warm. And the salad bar was very fresh, you can tell it did not come out of a bag. And the staff was constantly making sure it was full. Probably the best salad bar here in Springfield. And last but not least the overall atmosphere was great. We had a booth and it was very large and very comfortable. The bathrooms were nice and spotless as well. And the layout of the restaurant very well thought out so you do not feel crowded . All in all a great dining experience and we will definitely be going back soon.

Unique appetizers, well-executed sides and a terrific dessert were outdone only by the stellar service we received during a recent visit to Jimm’s. Despite bringing a party of more than 10 guests, all of our needs were tended in the most accommodating fashion imaginable by our lone server, who exceeded my expectations tremendously. As we were cordoned off into a private wing of the restaurant, it was difficult to get a sense of the location’s ambiance, but there was a somewhat«old school» vibe to what décor we did see that struck me as needing renovation. That, combined with a good but not great steak which paled in comparison to the sides accompanying it, hold this review back from five star status — but only barely.

The service and the salad bar are the only praises I have for this restaurant. For what one pays to eat at Jimm’s, the steak should be some of the best you could eat in Springfield. However, I have eaten better steak at Applebee’s. My New York Strip was poorly seasoned with no flavor and it was chewy. I will say that it was prepared just how I requested, but it won’t be enough to bring me back.

This is probably my favorite date night restaurant. Honestly, I’ve only eaten once in the restaurant, as the Pub is so quaint; I just can’t resist that old-world feel. Happy hour goes til 6 pm on week nights, so we try to schedule our visits so we can have the $ 5 appetizers. We LOVE their bacon-wrapped popadews! Blue cheese wedge is the best — I hear the owner is very particular about the type of blue cheese they serve. If you come for an evening meal, you will be served a sample of fine wine, and they are very easy to work with on my gluten-free diet, and have recently developed a gluten-free menu. I love love love their gluten-free chocolate cake, and hubby loves the crème brûlée. Just can’t say enough about this place. I would advise reservations, if you are showing up after 5:30PM. It is one of the best restaurants in town, and is packed out, on a regular basis. Check it out!

The old Steak and Ale ambiance was still very prevalent, clean, cozy and inviting. We were a party of 5 seated in the lounge, greeted by our waiter Jason who was a very welcoming. Each of our meals were different, 3 Steaks, One Chicken and One Pork Medallions. The salad bar was fresh and clean, the steaks all prepared differently were juicy and delicious. The Hawaiian Chicken was slightly dry but still tasty with the pineapple. The pork was horrible, tough, dry and had no flavor. We all gave it a try and could not eat it. We mentioned it to the waiter and received a surprising lack of response, just a you should have mentioned it sooner so I could get you something else. Never mind he had only checked on us once at the beginning of the meal. Overall we very much enjoyed our time together as a family in an intimate casual restaurant, just don’t order the pork.

Definitely one of the best salad bars around. Server Denver was great. It went down hill from there. Both of us ordered prime rib. It was the toughest and most tasteless meat we’ve ever ordered. We don’t normally order dessert but it was included with the meal. Strawberry shortcake and chocolate mousse cake were so dry we could have gone to the day old bakery counter and had better.

I would highly recommend Jimm’s steakhouse, My better half had the 6oz filet mignon, and I had the 11oz New York strip, both ordered medium, and both were cooked to perfection. Before I dug in, I requested some steak sauce. After one bite I quickly realized that I didn’t need it, the steak here is some of the most flavorful I’ve had! We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip, it too was fanatic! We both left full and thoroughly satisfied!

We were in Springfield for a funeral of a friend and looking for a good steak joint. It seems almost every restaurant had an Asian influence so we were thrilled to find what we consider back home a Supper Club. Supper Club’s in Wisconsin are usually family owned intimate places that serve great food. Jimm’s seems to fit that bill. We enjoyed a wonderful salad bar and my wife loved the soup she had. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The waiter seemed a little too eager to please(sort of phony) but was very attentive and did an excellent job in meeting our dining needs and wants. We can highly recommend Jimm’s and will return if ever in the area again.

Denver did a great job. Food for the price point was very good. Atmosphere great. Desserts very pleasant. Drinks were a little small so be sure to order tall and double to get a normal drink. But great people I would recommend to anyone wanting a good quality steak. Definitely better than Applebees, A more personable atmosphere than houlihans, and a more affordable meal than level 2 or Red Oak. Two thumbs up.

Took my wife here for date night. We were looking forward to a nice adult dinner. When we got to jimms the wait time was 30 – 45 minutes. We didnt mind as we didnt have reservations. We waited about 45 minutes before we were seated. The waitress was very nice. We ordered the escargot and steak wrapped asparagus for starters. Very good! The salads also were excellent. However, the prime rib i ordered was just ok, as was my wifes ribeye. The service, which started out excellent, diminished as the dinner went on until we waited appx 10 min for the server to bring our check. I think my wife put our experience very well when she said she wished she could put jimms ambience with texas roadhouse steaks. Oh, and an aside; if you go to a nice place for dinner, dress appropriately!!! We saw people here in shorts, t shirts. Even one man in sweat pants and a sleeveless shirt!!! This is supposed to be one of the nicer dining establishments in springfield! We couldnt believe that people care that little about presenting themselves in public! Overall, not a great dining experience.

We love this place. Very intimate, and feels like you are eating in an old cottage in England. Great prime rib and really just about anything else you order there. Would highly recommend the stuffed peppers for an appetizer. They are peppadew peppers stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon and topped with balsamic vinegar. Thanks to Jimm’s it is now my favorite thing to eat and I make it probably once a month at home now as well. Would also suggest the bar just for a quick stop in, and don’t forget the bloody mary. It is the best in town. My wife and I eat here almost every Valentine’s Day. I was afraid that the old restaurant Steak & Ale, I remember eating as a kid was gone forever when they sold, but the quality and expectations were lived up to and maybe even surpassed. Not sure how the bad reviews got on here. My guess is people with no taste, on their tongue or in their life.

Worst food I have ever had at a restaurant in my life. The atmosphere super outdated not changed a bit from previous establishing that it was before. Well not ever go back.

The Hawaiian Sirloin really hit the spot, along with the asparagus appetizer and a good selection of red wine. Jason was most helpful at the bar, which was filled with friendly patrons.

This is the first time I’ve been here and it was incredible! I was greeted immediately, sat immediately and had a menu immediately. My server Debbie was amazing.. Super nice and helpful. She gave me an awesome recommendation.. The Cajun chicken pasta. It was delicious– the chicken was super tender, juicy and full of flavor. The pasta was the perfect texture and the sauce was robust and delivered a kick without being overpowering. A truly wonderful balance in the sauce.. creamy but not too heavy and deliciously complimented by the green onions and parmesan cheese. Definitely a must try! Thank you Debbie!

Jimms is one of the first places I came to when I moved here from Georgia. We walked in and were greeted immediately. They sat us down and cordially thanked us for coming in. We then were greeted within seconds of sitting down. The server told us their special and started to make great recommendations after we told her we had never been there before. We started with the papadew peppers for an appetizer. They were sweet with some spice to them. Absolutely outstanding. If they did a happy hour with those on special, I’d go a lot more. My fiancé got the ribeye with he described as very tender. I got the Cajun chicken pasta. Which was served with focaccia garlic bread. The pasta wasn’t over cooked, which means the noodles weren’t just sitting there. They were fresh. And the chicken was perfectly seasoned. Your meal is served with honey wheat bread and butter and they give you the option of a salad of your choice or the salad bar. I say go with the salad bar. It’s got a lot of options and it’s always very fresh. Two thumbs up. We will be back.
