We tried this place for the first time last night and we were really impressed! We’ve been looking for a diner type place in Springfield that was open for dinner and family friendly. Good prices, good quality and good service.

This restaurant has amazing service and food. I asked the waitress a question about the bread and instead of just saying«I don’t know» she went and found out the answer. The décor is all old memorabilia from this great nations history. Biscuits and gravy are amazing. They have a French toast menu item that is coated in peanut butter Cap’n Crunch and drizzled with maple infused peanut butter topping. It’s amazing! Highly recommend this place.

Went for breakfast for the first time here. The food was okay, the waitress had poor customer service. I ordered a side of bacon and the bacon was brought out really dry. I asked the waitress if I could get the bacon undercooked and she just grabbed my plate and left. We she brought the new bacon, she raised her voice and said«bacon undercooked» and dropped the plate on the table then left. I would come back to try their lunch menu and hopefully I get better customer service.

We are always looking for new places to try and this was one that did not disappoint! Their country fried steak is actually hand breaded and so is their chicken fingers which were delicious! We have eaten here a few times and was only disappointed one time with a hot sandwich. I don’t remember which one it was but the toppings were way overdone with way too much bell peppers and toppings which made the bread mushy and hard to eat as a sandwich. The service is nice the people are always friendly.

Went there for breakfast last week, very disappointed that my biscuits & gravy were cold & my drinking milk was slightly warm. I tried the French Toast sticks that came highly recommend from the waitress and to say they least they need to clean their frying oil. I got an some sort of special scrambled eggs, yet they were scrambled at all but more folded in. After all this be in said I did have dinner there about a month back and it was pretty good, personally I would stay away from their nasty of temperature breakfast!

This place is busy for a reason. The food and the service are great. We had a great burgers at lunch here the other day, and saw the fish and chips served at the next table, so we came back tonight for some of that. The fish is breaded to order and cooked perfectly. Best family dining in town!

The worst place. I have been there 2 times now. The first time no one came for an hour to take my order and then today I called in soup to pick up and a salad and THEWHOLEORDERWASWRONG. So so wrong. I didn’t even know it was possible to mess up soup and salad. I am sick and want soup to feel better. This is absolute garbage. I will make sure I never ever go there again if it’s too hard to order soup!

When it first opened my family loved it. However every time we go there now something is always wrong. My husband ordered cornbeef hash. It definitely was not that. We where not upset about it just let the waitress know. Then we went in again burned burgers. Then again and again and every time something was missing from our order or it was completely wrong. They always adjusted the bill which was very nice. The service is very friendly I would just like to see the food be better.

Excellent customer service! They were very attentive during lunch yesterday and today, at three o clock pm the standard has not fell off. Omelette I had was very good and a great portion size. Im getting a wrap with a veggie tortilla and a grilled chicken breast on the side. Im interested in knowing if this is a place I can regularly eat with me being an athlete and all…

I tend not to trust small restaurants, because I have not heard much about them. This place is one of the best places for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Can’t beat the price and quantity and quality of food. Breakfast I had country fried steak. It was very good. For dinner I had the steak, baked potato and veggies. One of the best steaks ever. I like juicy steak with no fat, and that is what I got. Veggie were perfect. They had just the right bite to them. I would 100% recommend this place. The service and atmosphere was nice as well.

We ordered a couple of hamburgers. The toppings were really good. The avocado and bacon were really good unfortunately the hamburger patty itself was overcooked and seemed to be of low quality. The service was decent but a little slow. They were rather busy. The food coming out to the other tables looked good so we will try them a f a in and probably go with the breakfast.

Talk about a renovation! This place was a complete dump before and it is actually really nice inside now. I think the chairs may have been the carriage houses old ones that are reupolstered, not sure if I’d want to sit at a table. Booths are pretty cool, they are divided by shadow boxes of memorabilia which makes it feel more private and something nice to stare at if you are in the middle of an awkward silence. Food was fairly tasty, went for a burger and fries during dinner. It came out a hair slow but nothing crazy. Servers were fairly good but there was a few minor hiccups which were expected going within the first month of opening. Burger was pretty run of the mill, tasty none the less. Onion rings are solid but if I remember there was a small upgrade charge, correct me if I’m wrong. Fries are great, battered style like you will find at a café 440 or cornucopia. Love them! Definetly go with the fries, you won’t regret it. Prices are a maybe 1 – 2 dollars a meal higher than some other diners in the main street area. Not sure if it’s worth it but the food was pretty solid. I will say this place is great for the 42nd area. It is honestly a diamond in the rough. Clean, modern, retro diner.

We were regulars at The Carriage House and saw the renovations for Flashback Grill from the infant stages, I was excited to see everything come together. The décor is excellent. It’s that«Flashback» theme without feeling cluttered and dirty to me, like so many«retro» restaurants can. The food is mostly the same. Typical diner food. They have added a few things, I’m particularly happy that they added more salads and wraps, that’s a huge adjustment from before when it was hard to pick something when you’re not feeling like burgers or breakfast. They have changed the names of things so that they fit the theme. That was a little confusing to my dad who wasn’t sure what he was walking into but he started warming up quickly. The service as always is pleasant. Sometimes it takes awhile but it’s not due to neglect or someone not working, it’s because everyone is indeed busy doing something else or attending to another guest. Be patient and be kind, they are wonderful servers!

Despite the name this place will not take you back to a time when their food would have been considered good. The décor inside is nice and all, but I really think that the food could be better. I have a policy of going somewhere twice just to make sure that it’s not a fluke or an ‘off’ day. The first time we came service was slow and when I specifically asked for no spinach in my omelette and swiss instead of cheddar… neither of those things happened. So I was obligated to pick all of the spinach out of my extremely cheddary eggs. Not what I was expecting and it sort of ruined the experience. We also had pancakes that were nothing to crow about. This second time we went for burgers. I mean, the restaurant does have the word grill in the name so it made sense to us. We ordered onion rings, which were ok, but nothing you couldn’t get at a fast food joint. I had the ‘start me up’ burger, and he had the ‘celebration’ burger. Mine was not worth eating. The meat was cooked to death and need something kind of flavor. I would have preferred a burger from carls jr or burger king, and honestly I think that a sit down restaurant definitely needs to be able to make a better burger than fast food. I want this restaurant to succeed but the food needs to improve for us to be regular patrons. We also ate a few times at this place before it changed hands and the food pretty much seems the same to me now. The décor is an improvement, but I thought there’d be more.

We ate at Flashback Grill in early June. I had the Celebration burger, which was nothing special… except for the«special» 1000 Island sauce. Not really sure what it was, but not good. Fries were not great. For $ 10+ I expect a significantly better burger and fries. I’d get a better burger at Carl’s Jr for less money. I will say the peanut butter and chocolate shake was fantastic. The menu was huge… but maybe that’s not such a good thing. Wouldn’t it be better to do a few things really well than a lot of things average or worse, especially for the prices. I almost hated to write this, but finally felt compelled to say something.

My wife and I go there every weekend for breakfast, and highly recommend it. The food and the service is great just like before they changed the menu. The new retro décor is awesome, can’t wait for the patio seating. You are doing a good job Kelly.

The décor was nice. But the food was just barely average. The menu was cute for naming all the entrees after cars, songs, etc. But it made it very difficult to find what I wanted to eat. The service was just below average. All in all, I’d go somewhere else.

We visited this restaurant based on the recommendation of our neighbors. They had been there for breakfast and really enjoyed the Eggs Benedict. This was our first time since the new owners did a complete makeover. Someone mentioned earlier they do not have booths. With the makeover they now have booths that sit 4 and maybe even 6, plus a few for 2 people. They also have seating at the counter. They have done a very nice job with the interior. As you can imagine from the name, there are decorations of 40’s, 50’s and 60’s photos, album covers etc. It is done nicely and even keeps you entertained seeing what is all around you while you wait for your food. We went for dinner and there was no wait to be seated in one of the new booths. Our server came by quickly and did a very good job in handling our order which she brought quickly. Both of our meals were hot and very tasty. My wife had a chicken teriyaki sandwich with all the trimmings including a pineapple slice. I had a patty melts and this one was one of the better ones I’ve had. Both came with several options for a side dish. My wife went with the curly fries and I had the regular fries. The fries might just be some of the best in town. They are crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside and seem to be seasoned just right. They were so good that I hardly used any ketchup which I normally use a lot of with fries. The dinners were excellent and we would not hesitate to order the same things again. They have quite a varied menu and if sandwiches and burgers are not your thing, they have wraps, salads, full dinner dishes plus quite few other items to choose from. In spite of the fact they have only been open a month or so, I was glad to see they were relatively busy on a Wednesday at 5:00 pm. I think this restaurant is good for Springfield and I hope that as a local business they are successful. From the number of patrons that we saw, it looks like word might be getting out. We will definitely go back.

My wife and I had a great meal today. My wife’s eggs Benedict was good(breakfast served all day!) and my western burger was tasty too. We didn’t experience any long wait times and our food was fresh and tasty. We are Happy to have a new place in the neighborhood. We will definitely be back.

11:30am Mothers Day. New owners. Open 4 days as Flashbacks. Very busy. Not a very long wait considering the place is jam packed(15 mins). New décor. New menu. Very attentive and friendly staff. The menu. Big. Lots of choices. All sound wonderful. Comfort food with nostalgic names. After perusing for 10 – 15 minutes, lots of choices, we asked our waitress what she liked. She said the French toast was really good. I was already looking at that as it said thick sliced cinnamon bread, heavy cream egg batter. Took about 20 minutes for our food. Customers were lined up out the door by now. My French toast was very good, sausage patty tasted great. Her breaded pork cutlet was tasty and cooked perfectly. She had biscuits and country gravy with her eggs and pork cutlet. The gravy was thick and tasty, the biscuits were fluffy. We will be back to try some more of their offerings.

I hadn’t been to this place in several years after an incident with extremely expired orange juice and cold, clumpy eggs. But, my mother and I decided we wanted breakfast(on the day of the Springfield Christmas parade — oops,) and stopped in because it was the least busy of the places on Main Street. My menu was extremely dirty and the knife in my silverware roll was pitted so badly it still had breakfast crusties on it. I just left it be however because I wasn’t using it anyway. The woman who seated us seemed… frazzled maybe? Or just grumpy, but she didn’t come across as very pleasant. Our waitress on the other hand was really sweet, which was nice. She kept checking on us and got us our food fairly quickly. We both ordered Country Fried Steak breakfasts. The steak itself was actually done pretty well — it wasn’t tough and I could cut it with my fork. My eggs were done properly as well, so always a bonus. My potatoes however were on the lukewarm side and underseasoned, as was the country gravy. The gravy was also a little thick and lumpy, and I ended up adding salt and pepper to it. My mother’s plate wasn’t much different than mine. I could see from my spot that they were microwaving some of the food being served — so that always makes me a little leery. The biggest issue I had was the cleanliness aspect. I’m usually an easy going diner, but this was a bit much even for me It wasn’t a –horrid– experience, but I’d still go here as a last resort. McKenzie Café or Busy Bee are better choices on this strip of road. I saw in recent reviews they’re changing up again after the 1st of 2015, so who knows. Maybe things will improve again. .
