Bought four chicken saltenas and which had any meat whatsoever. Instead they were filled with potatoes. Came in the next day to order a soup when I ran into the owner. My family and I have been coming to Sabor Boliviano since they opened and this was my first encounter with him. My mother and I informed him that the Saltenas were not as good as they use to be as they were a lot dryer and less filling now. To my dismay his response was horrendous. He told us no one is forcing us to come buy his food and basically shooshed us away. I never met an owner with such horrible customer service. Nobody wants to hear complaints but a simple thank you and some reassurance they would look into it would have been nice.

Best Bolivian food in the DMV area. The sopa de mami was amazing the soup, rice and everything we had was delicious. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Update: AND now I have an upset stomach. I ordered Lomo a la Charollana(steak, eggs, veggies and rice). It cost over $ 13 and was mostly rice, thinly slice of tasteless steak, and cold potato wedge fries. Veggies was just green peppers and onions. Wasted my money and time. I even asked the woman in the front what she thought I should order and she didn’t have any recommendations. Then I asked about a few dishes and she wasn’t able to describe them & would only able to tell me what meat was in it.

Ok so in my previous review I mentioned that most of dishes were $ 10 or less, and they were at one time. However, ever since they expanded, and made place larger they’ve update their menu and the prices have gone up. They still get three stars because the dishes I’ve gotten here were good, not the best, but good enough to get to come back.

Me and my family went to El Sabor Boliviano last night and we were all extremely pleased. We arrived close to their closing time, but their waiter was very welcoming. We are all native Bolivians and found the food authentic. I definitely recommend this place to anybody!

I got the chicken soup and it was overpriced and average. Everything is just bland. Entrees are all $ 13.00 each and definitely not worth it. Saltenas were pretty good, bland as well. Service wasn’t that great either. Completely empty restaurant, bad atmosphere. If you’re looking for Bolivian food do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

First time I’ve ever eaten here and the food was great. Service was weak, but other than that food came out hot and quick. However, next time I’ll probably just order take out, because the service was lackluster.

The place was empty at 12:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. That should have been a flag. Service was terrible. The staff could not answer simple questions about the Fricase and just pointed to the picture on the menu. She could have easily ask the cook. Needless to say the Fricase was horrible. The salteña was bland. I don’t plan on coming again. I suggest you look for other options.

I gave them 3 stars, even though I didn’t have the opportunity to order any food. I had a 9:00 a.m. appointment and dropped by at 8:00 a.m. to get a takeout breakfast. Unilocal said that the restaurant opens at 8:00 a.m. on Mondays through Fridays. No, it opens at 9:00 a.m. weekdays(8:00 on Saturdays and Sundays). So, no salteñas to snack on. I had to go to Dunkin’ Donuts instead. Not the fault of the restaurant; it’s the fault of Unilocal. I would have set my appointment for 9:30 a.m. if I’d known the restaurant opens at 9:00 a.m.

I would have given 5 stars before, but prices increased by 25−30% in past 2 years with food portions getting smaller. Unfortunately it seems this is standard across all Bolivian restaurants.

Small place. Staff was helpful. Tried both chicken and beef saltenas. They were very good, probably would be better if fresher — they looked like they were in the display for a long time. I have tried all the saltenas in NVA that I have found — perhaps a dozen places. These are in the top tier. I like them juicy, spicy, with some raisins(missing in some recipes). The green sauce is also very good — needed to ask for extra but we ate all of it.

I’m rating the saltenas. I’ve had better! They were too sweet however the consistency if ingredients and amount of juiciness inside was the right amount.

I really like the food here! Saltenas are not bad at all and in general the menu options are good. Service can be a little better but not too bad. Overall I do recommend this place!

This is the only Bolivian restaurant in Springfield! The saltenas are not the best … and not very good at all if you compare it to the Bolivian places in Arlington. The sopa de mani is good, as is the silpancho. However their food tends to be a little too salty.

Ordered two saltenas and they seemed a little overpriced at $ 2.50, but they were good. Also ordered two Silpanchos($ 10) and they were good but beware … they did not come with french fries but rather boiled potatoes that were sliced lengh wise and seared. I could see this being a deal breaker for a lot of folks but it worked for me and it certainly was a healthier alternative. You got two eggs which was nice also. The décor of the place is warm and clean, parking is beyond plentiful. I will go back! Not many bolivian places in springfield.
