Currents is located inside the Marriott hotel and it’s a great spot for a lunch date. I had the Chicken Caesar Salad which was above average and I was pleased with meal. I also had the chocolate bread pudding but I didn’t enjoy it, too much chocolate syrup *shocking* I never thought I would say that but it was overwhelming. I would def visit again for another salad

We sat down to get a drink and were told that they closed an hour early since nobody new was at the bar. When we got there, there were about five people who had just closed their tab and two other people that were looking to get drinks. Just really weird that they would just randomly close early on a Friday night.

Everyone else was writing about the dinner menu, so I thought I would write about a great deal they have. I travel a lot and I often eat at breakfast buffets. What do I look for? A good omelet chef and plenty of other items that might fit my fancy. It is similar to a lot of other Marriott buffets; however, the price is very reasonable when compared to buffets in NYC or Boston. I ate there on Saturday and Sunday morning. I had my traditional egg white omelet with all veggies, and I added provolone cheese to the mix. The coffee arrived at my table with grapefruit juice and I had no complaints about the other items available. They had waffles made to order, and other items available for buffet style. Good quality for a great price.

Ate here last night while staying at the hotel. I was shocked at the food selection. The hotel offers a sports bar with nothing to eat but pizza and wings, and since I’m a slight health nut, that wasn’t an option. I chose the alternative at Currents. I pictured that it was going to be slightly more expensive since its at a pretty nice hotel, but not that expensive. The menu didn’t have a whole lot to offer and even the appetizers were 8 or more dollars. They did offer me bread(which I declined due to a gluten allergy) and then they offered me chips. The chips appeared to be homemade bbq style which I enjoyed but they hadn’t evenly spread the seasoning so it was a little much. I chose to go with the cheapest meat option at $ 23(pork chop with apple ginger chutney and fingerling potatoes). The pork chop was the whole meal. It was cooked slightly dry but had no fat and I enjoyed it enough but have had better for less money. There were about 10 fingerling potatoes that were very small and a small bowl of the chutney that was actually pretty amazing. I chose not to get a drink since I was already feeling guilty about going to the hotel restaurant anyways. They were diligent about making sure that I had enough chips and water. The wait staff was very nice and very in tune to whether or not I needed something and always offered options. All in all the ambiance was good, experience was decent, but the prices were way to high for what few options they had. I will avoid eating there since I know the area has better food for less money in close range. But if its a late night and I don’t have time to go out, then ya I’ll take the dive.

A good hotel restaurant. I had the small plate of calamari, which was heavily breaded(onion-ring style) and came with marinara sauce. It was cooked well – still tender. I also had a salad which was fresh with crumbles of blue cheese. I didn’t have an entrée, since I had a big lunch, but other diners’ plates were nicely presented and the choices sounded good. Even though I didn’t have a complete meal, they still brought out a selection of good bread. They have a good wine selection by the glass, and were more than happy to take my first glass back when it tasted flat(bottle had been opened for a while.) Service was prompt and friendly. Why not a higher rating? I could give four stars, but it is expensive; I guess you should expect that in a hotel, but it made me knock a star off. Purely on food quality, wine list and service, I’d give four.

I’ve been living at the Springfield Marriott, so I decided to try the hotel restaurant Currents to see how it was, nearly a month ago. It’s kind of hidden, buried really(no windows), but the décor and ambiance was comfortable. I don’t know how you would find it if you weren’t specifically looking for it. My waitress was kind and cordial. I had to ask her what EVOO was that came with the crostini. Duh, extra virgin olive oil. My waitress had to ask the kitchen to find out… I kept it simple. I had a lovely glass of Terre chardonnay, the tomato basil crostinia and something else I can’t remember, as you can tell, it was memorable. I’m looking at their online menu right now, and don’t remember seeing the manicotti. I did mention to the waitress that they didn’t have a lot of vegetarian options. I’m pretty sure the other thing I had was a salad… My colleague has spent even more time living at the Springfield Marriott, and is quite fond of the place and the chef. It’s decent. The service was good. I wouldn’t dis it, but I wouldn’t rave about it either.
