Big Whiskey’s

We were in from out of town and thought this place would be a good centrally located meeting place. First, the place was jammed with tables, we were so close to other people that our friends were backing into the people sitting behind. Second our drinks were full of ice and weak and the waitress/​bartender said if she took out more ice she would just fill the glass with the mixer not liqueur. Third the food was HORRIBLE, the steak was tough, the side dishes were cold (cold veggies, potatoes, fries) AND it took SO long to get the food. Fourth, it was way OVERPRICED for what we received. Lastly the service was poor, I was wanting to order a beer and we didn’t see our waitress for 15 minutes!

Great food, Hawaiian chicken was delicious, and had a little spice to it, waitress was attentive, no complaints here :)

Basically I love this place and the food, but it’s only worth going to during the day. Night staff is always terrible. Tonight I got a water refill when I had sweet tea, they combined/​mixed up our orders (2), and it took at least ten minutes to even get our drinks when we arrived. Def giving up on going here at night.

This is my go to for beer and bar food.
I have probably eaten here more than I have any other restaurant in Springfield. The reason is that the food is great for a bar. Although I have tried everything on the menu, I always get one of two different meals. It is either the fish and chips (some of the best in town with homemade tarter sauce) or the turkey melt (and I don’t eat turkey melts). Both are a safe bet, and so delicious. And then there’s the fries, oh man the fries.
Beer on tap is always cold and the service is always, at the very least, acceptable. Sometimes fantastic.
If you are in the mood for a icy beer and something hot, greasy, and delicious to hold it down, this is now your place.

I walked in casually dressed very hungry for dinner. Ordered a ~$ 14.00 ‘special’, sirloin steak, stuffed potato & steamed veggies. Waitress was excellent, food was cold. The steak was not cooked as expected but was the only warm food on the plate. Waitress called the manager, I complained, manager reduced the price by 50% and I took the cold food home. I didn’t go in to drink, but maybe I should have. I won’t be back soon, I’m concerned about health code violations when the food is this cold.

I love big whiskeys its amazing. Our only issues was my dreamcicle drink was very bland. Which was completely forgotten by the fact the appitizers were amazing and our dinners were fantastic. But when we waited twenty something mins for our check and when our waitress kayla m. Came back she just reaked horribly of cigarette smoke, so badly that it made me cough… maybe bring gum next time you go on a smoke break. Still tipped decently because food was amazing too bad couldnt leave to the chefs. :(

I just love this place. It’s def our go to spot for brews and they have a vegetarian sandwich to die for.

Big Whiskey’s is a great American bar and grill style spot! They have great drinks, great food, and a great environment! Frequent Big Whiskey’s often. I highly recommend Big Whiskey’s if you’re looking for something fun and light!

A couple weeks ago I came in with some of my girls to celebrate getting engaged. Tony was our waiter and he was awesome! He was so patient when some of us were running late and made out whole night fabulous!

Good Food at Good prices! The best French Fries in town for sure. This is a great place to grab a drink, have some grub, and watch the game.

Every couple of weeks, a particular friend of mine and I hit a bar and drink into the next morning while catching up. We decided to try this Big Whiskey’s location on the suggestion of one of my coworkers. This Big Whiskey’s is now the place we go to every time. Great service, lots of tasty beers on tap, friendly staff and an even friendlier crowd. I’ve never had a bad experience here. It’s got a positive atmosphere and is very clean everywhere you go inside. If you want to go to a bar but are tired of the mediocre atmosphere and service of chain sports bars, or indie dive bars, this place is a little more upscale and promises more for your buck.

Where do you go on Thanksgiving for dinner when you are in Springfield, MO; you’ve already had your Thanksgiving feast; and nothing is open? Well, if you can’t find anything searching on Unilocal… you as the hotel to recommend something (hopefully, it’s open!). She pointed us to Big Whiskey’s…and as we were quite hungry (it’s about 9 at that point) we decided to give it a shot.
Once we got to the restaurant and were being seated we noticed how incredibly rowdy it was — everyone who was staying warm (or getting warm) from the early Black Friday sales were there; either discussing their haul (or potential haul) or drinking copious amounts of alcohol. As both my man and I were hungry and tired all we wanted was to eat dinner, and go back to our hotel for bed. Thankfully the quick service made that possible — even if the hipsters were quite annoying.
We ordered burgers and drinks — he got the… crap I can’t remember what burger he got, but I got the jalapeño burger. They took a bit to get to us; not so much because of the kitchen more because of how busy and rowdy many of the patrons were. The burgers were pretty good; they were ginormous! But at the same time I think there could be some better flavors involved. My frustration was actually with the salt and pepper shakers; which were in fact salt and pepper grinders. I don’t mind those (in fact I usually love them!), but I take issue when they are at this time of establishment — more bar then restaurant. I like my ketchup mixed with pepper — which is nearly impossible to do with the grinders. At least to what I like it to be — which is drowned in pepper. :-P
Overall, a decent experience. Hard to say if we’ll be back since we are only really every in Springfield, MO once a year.

My husband and I decided to have lunch at Big Whiskeys on a Saturday early afternoon… My husband ordered the wings and was somewhat pleased… I was going to order soup and salad but the waitress mentioned that the fish and chips was a good choice so I decided to give it a try because I Love fish and the price of $ 11 made me think it would be a little better quality… wrong!!!what a mistake that was… It was obvious that the fish and fries came from a bag and they were extremely drenched/​soaked with grease and both tasted terrible… a heart attack on a plate is what it should be called. If you care about your health stay away!!!

Nice atmosphere, sports type pub. Service/​staff was amazing! Large selection of drafts, steaks were great & excellent priced. Def be returning here as adding it to the «fav» list

I’ve tried hard to find something amazing at Big Whiskey’s. Burgers, wings, salads, etc… Nothing has wowed me yet. Pretty par for the course, and prices that can be beat elsewhere for better quality food.

Great food, great service. I’ve not ordered much other than the wings and boneless wings. Tip, ask or the sauce on the side, and order a couple of types of sauce.
Great place to watch a game on TV.

Came here on a Friday night. Good service, okay food and drink. The atmosphere wasn’t a good fit for us – the music was really loud and a strange mix (ranging from classic rock to older pop to rap/​hip hop then back to oldies) — and it seemed more like a bar for the college age crowd. I guess I’m getting old.

I have been here several time for lunch with co-​workers.
I enjoy it. Love the atmosphere with all the big screen TV’s. If I didn’t have a big screen of my own I would come here to watch a game.
Food is good. I have always enjoyed their fish & chips.
The Strawberry lemonade is outstanding! Good place.
The owners are GREAT people!

What a fantastic location and a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. They have some of the best wings in town. They have won the wingapalooza the last two years and they have great Baby Back Ribs! Happy hour is 4 – 6.
