This has been my favorite Afghan restaurant for years. Friendly service, reasonably priced, great food quickly… what’s more to like? I take«newbies» here frequently, and I’ve yet to have anyone come away disappointed. My eight-year old loves it! Can’t recommend enough!

We hadn’t been at this restaurant for a while but their food has improved quite a bit.

My father just bought 4 Bolani and 4 Samosa for $ 31(takeout). I’ve eaten at this location before(a few years ago) and the food was good at that time. But I can’t believe being charged for 4 Bolani and 1 of them having a huge hole in it. This is ridiculous…

I liked how the chicken kabob tasted it wasn’t dry but I didn’t like how the chicken was orange. The bread was good and warm. I didn’t like how the pumpkin(Kadoo) was red it looked unnatural and it tasted plain. The lamb chop was so disappointing, it was all fat.

Overcharged & Unimpressed. $ 16 for a chicken kabob with a small portion of rice? You are better off driving to Annandale and trying the Food Corner Kabob in Annandale, exact same chicken(very tasty) more rice and also offer sides like salad. The dining area is very nice a lot nicer than most kabob spots but the creepy cashier guy just did it for me. Never coming here again.

Absolutely delicious. Got the lunch special. Chicken with the rice with raisin and carrot on top, which was fantastic. It comes with a choice of sides in which I picked spinach and chick peas cooked the middle eastern, and quite tasty. Tea is also great. Will be back to try other dishes, would return just to have the rice again as it was one of my favorite rice dishes I have had in recent time

The bread is always fresh and good. Portion size is okay. We normally order the lamb chops or the lamb kabob. It’s pretty tender. We normally do carry out and it takes about 20 minutes.

Amazing food! Don’t let the outside fool you, the inside is very nice, warm atmosphere, great décor and music! Plus very attentaive and friendly staff. However, the food speaks for itself. Absolutely fantastic food. Will definitely be returning soon. Everything we had was delicious! Highly recommend Afghan Kabob!

The location that this place is located in is a little bit on the ghetto side but as soon as you walk in your initial impression of walking into a slum quickly vanishes. The décor in the inside is beautiful, it’s not over the top but it’s still fancy. I love the beautiful water filled vase candles they have on the tables as decoration. The have their plates and dinnerware set up in a very elegant manner. It looks very nice on the inside. They offer a long variety of afghan food. We had chicken on naan, and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken literally melted in your mouth and had the perfect amount of seasoning on it. I also ordered bolani with potatoes and that was incredibly delicious as well. However once I started eating the chicken I couldn’t go back to the bolani, or anything else, the chicken was that good. I was so full I was about to burst but I was still eating lol Overall it’s a really nice place with good service and good food and I’m definitely going to go back.

I wasn’t there for the actual experience however my boyfriend did go to pick up some food. We ordered the deluxe kabob and shared it. Their meat is great because it’s not salty, dry, or under seasoned. The fact that they open pretty late makes me happy too because now I know a place I can go to for late night munchies. I use to be obsessed with meat in the box but I honestly think this place is much better.

This has been one of my family’s go-to restaurants for years. We like to order several appetizers and entrees and pass them around. It makes for a fun interactive meal. They remodeled and the place has a more modern, clean look. I do, however miss the round tables they used to have as they were more suited to the sharing of food. The food is unfailingly good. Sometimes service is with a smile, other times with a kind of glum face, but it has always been prompt. It is nicer when it’s with a smile, though. The food is always fresh, aromatic and delicious. Our favorites include aushak, mantu, qaubili palau, and firnee for dessert. It gets pretty crowded on weekends, but weeknights are slow.

BLUF: Amazing food, wonderful service. Slightly pricey, but worth it. Also, right next door to the Empire venue, so it’s perfect if you’re headed to a show. My friend and I went to Afghan Kabob Restaurant mostly due to its proximity to Empire music venue. First, let me emphasize how greatly we were treated. My friend arrived well before me and was having problems contacting me because his phone was about to die. Our server noticed this and brought his personal charger out for my friend to use for the duration of meal. This was extremely helpful, and not the type of hospitality I’d expect to encounter at most restaurants. Besides this, our server was otherwise extremely friendly and helpful in the ways you’d expect to hear about(kept drinks filled, knowledgeable about the menu, etc.) I ordered the deluxe kabob(two skewers each of chicken, shami, and lamb, 3 – 4 pieces of meat per skewer), which was fantastic. All the meat was very tender and perfectly cooked. I also ordered a yogurt-based drink called«doth», which was very unusual. It was thick and tasted mostly of cucumber; I didn’t care for it, but I think that was a personal taste issue and not a preparation issue. My bill was a bit over $ 20(the deluxe kabob is the most expensive kabob they offer). This seemed slightly high for the amount of food I got, but the quality of the food and service as well as the nice appearance of the restaurant very easily made up for that. Wonderful place, and definitely one I would visit again. My friend remarked that if there was a comparable place where we live(Lynchburg, VA), he would likely be eating there at least once a week, if not more.

I had the lunch special, which includes lamb kabob, nan, rice, chickpeas, and spinach, as well as a green spicy/tangy sauce and a creamy/tangy white sauce with a mayo-like consistency. While the lamb was not super tender, everything was very flavorful. Their nan is better than Moby Dick’s, but the meat isn’t quite at the same level, yet still tasty. The sides were awesome; they had really unique flavors and went well with one another. I waited about 12 minutes for a carry out order I placed when I arrived, so not an awful wait. I will be back for sure.

Wow. Afghan kabob is rockin it. Kabob palace, in your face! Had the chicken and it is just amazing. Amazing. Um. Amazing. The chickpeas were great and the bread… oh the bread! Fair warning: The green sauce, whatever it was, was a bit on the hot side.

Been there twice, whild travelling from Upstate NY. Well worth it if you can go there. The Naan bread is delicious. I had three different kinds of Kabobs. All were wonderful. So many interesting choices. It was nice to try food I had never been exposed to before. Service was fine, no issues. It’s not a FAST food place. Patience is the key. The bathroom was clean, and I am a big fan of that. Cannot wait to go again!
