Worse place to go when your craving BBQ… it was my first and last time there, to start when we entered it was like was like a ghost town… no music, no customers, just the sound of our footsteps but we still wanted to give it a try since it was right down the rode from us and maybe we were there early(it was 2pm)…we approach towards a lady who was standing there waiting for us to order I told her it was our first time here and would like a min to look at the menu, she said ok. After we decided what we wanted she started talking to us so rude! She wanted us to hurry up and say wat we wanted even tho we were the only ones there she was rushing us… after we had already paid for our food we went to sit down with our tray of sides what I got was a small side of corn and green beans at first bite they had no flavor was so ever as if they were stright out of a cheap brand can, a man came to bring us our main dish I got sliced and chopped brisket it was terrible the meat was super dry and hard to chew like it had be sitting out, and they put so much BBQ sauce on my husband’s brisket I had to get up with his plate of meat and take it up to the lady the one i told first was the man who brought out our food I told him in spanish since he didn’t speak English that my husband meat had way to much sauce then the lady appeared behind him asking all rude what we were talking about and I told her that this is way to much BBQ sauce my husband meat he can’t eat it like this she got mad and said it’s how it’s served I told her well can u give me a new order with the sauce on the side she viciously grabbed the plate out of my hand and got me a new order we never been treated so disrespectfully as customers… after a while she was asking us if everything was ok we said it’s ok we didn’t want to be rude about it, a few mins later we decided to leave we barely touched our terribly made food… on top of that it was very over priced, a bit of regret set in us thinking we should have just went straight to get Rudy’s BBQ the drive there would have been worth it in the end. Never again with Thomas BBQ… I wouldn’t even rate this place one star but I have to rate it in order the post this…

Food was terrible, the sides looked like they had been cooking under the heat lamp for days. The staff running the restaurant were nice but the food not so much. I will not stop here again.

Man I wished I had read the reviews first. I used to come to this place years ago and it was great. It sucks now. Food and service is bad, place is filthy. Too many good places here to waste your time on this place. Won’t be back!

This place is disgusting. I found a roach in my bbq sandwich! The manager is rude and they were out of ketchup! Guess they wanted me to taste the roach full on! Stay away unless you like to eat bugs!

Only good thing about this place is that they do have food. Salty food. Nothing special at all. OVERPRICED! Will not return.

This place is disgusting everything inside is filthy. I got the two meat special for $ 14.50 with drink. I got two tiny sides that tasted like it was from a can. The main plate. Was sausage link cut on the biased thinly. Got 5 pc’s. The beef jerky or brisket pretty sure it was beef jerky was tough as nails and looked like beef jerky. It in no way resembled brisket. I will never ever go back. You know when you see the filthy fish tank on the way out that you made a huge mistake.

I’m the kind of guy that can eat just about anything and find something good about it, but unfortunately, not here. I was excited to try out this place since I had passed it several times. I wish I had just kept on passing it by! The food was bland and unimpressive. As others have stated in their reviews, the potato salad tasted like it came from a 3rd world deli, the meat was dry and the flavor of the sauce was, um, not good. My daughters ordered fries that tasted under-cooked and yet very greasy. The restaurant felt very unclean, so we ate outside. Really, just a bad experience. There are too many other decent Barbecue places around for me to waste my money here again. YOUHAVEBEENWARNED!

Very disappointed was a favorite spot until now. The serving have shrunk to a very disappointing size, but not the price. Too many good BQ places close to 45& Rayford to settle for weak BQ. Burnt twice but not again !!

Stopped by the one on 45 and rayford as it is close by my office. I tried the location on 45 and Tidwell which I am told is the original and had good luck w that so stopped by for a quick lunch. I got the bbq beef potato. For $ 7 I was surprised at the sheer size of food u get. It was 2 meals in one! The potato was really tasty. The beef used was the tender chopped to order and not pre sauced variety. I can say one of the best potatos ive had. The combination of the beef and It certainly hit the spot and headed for a food coma.

Not good. The brisket was tough. The potato salad tastes like they picked it up at a deli(not fresh/house made). Got green beans and they were marginal. Would not recommend this place at all. If you are in the area of I-45 and Sawdust/Rayford go to Pit Master bbq. That place is awesome.

The food was terrible. We’ve been to other Thomas BBQs that are great, so it must be that franchise. We should have had a clue when only one other couple and us were customers at noon on a Saturday. My husband ordered the salad bar and I ordered a chopped BBQ sandwich and fries with weak tea. The salad bar selection was very limited. My husband only had about five items to choose from. My BBQ sandwich was the worst BBQ I’d ever had. It was so greasy every time I took a bite, grease would drip onto the plate and into my fingers. The fries came out separately many minutes after I got my sandwich. We will not return.

Thomas Bar BQ is the spy of Barbecue Joints. Bland, unmemorable, forgettable. Based on other reviews below, it looks like the food is going down hill. There were no large amounts of tasty sides. The meats were all simply OK. I can’t really give much of a review as there just wasn’t much to the place. Over all this is a simply forgettable meal, not a single point of the meal sticks out in my mind as interesting, and certainly nothing I’d ever go out of my way to participate in again.

Went here hoping for great food and that was not the case at all. You order from pictures and they don’t like you to swap items. The food was horrible and that is being kind — the salad was warm with fake cheese and yucky dressing. The meat was below average and not worth eating. We should have known when we were the only customers and only one other couple showed up. Best thing about this place was it would protect you from the rain.

I generally like going to «local» bar-b-que places. I usually like the homey feel. I have to say that I was not impressed with this visit. Only a few of the tables were cleared, attracting flies. The bathroom needed servicing. The food was just ok(beef sauage a bit to dry). Pricing seemed reasonable at $ 4.99 for a lunch sandwich and side. The staff was short and terse, and seemingly overworked.

This was the only Thomas Bar BQ that I ate at while in Houston, and I really liked it. I definitely did not walk away hungry… the chicken fried steak was HUGE. It was done just right… lightly breaded… and the gravy was awesome. As this was my first CFS in Texas, I might be a bit biased… but as I think back… it was one of the best. the sides were good as well… and I had never had sweet tea… so I can blame Thomas’ for getting me hooked…

What are these«Thomas Barbeque» places that we’ve all seen off the freeways of Houston, sometimes in sketchy areas too close to Gallery furniture and the like? Well, I’ve eaten at most all of their locations, and I say it’s good. I’ve had the brisket, chicken and ribs, and it’s all been good pretty much every time. I’d classify the BBQ quality as near equal to Pappas. Not out –of-this-world extraordinary, but solid good BBQ. What makes Thomas Bar BQ stand out from other BBQ restaurants in Houston(IMO) are their sides and their prices. Fresh southern homestyle collard greens, okra, cabbage, black-eyed peas, salad bar and more. There’s probably 15 side order options, and no canned collards or canned okra here, only fresh. A nice change from the limited side options at most BBQ places in Houston which invevitably offer only cole slaw, beans, and maybe fries. I had an excellent BBQ chopped beef sandwich w/2 sides last weekend which cost all of $ 5.99 + tax and it was scrumptious. In every Thomas Bar BQ location I’ve been to, the clientele has been very decent, so don’t feel timid about stopping by. There’s a good reason they’ve been in business all these years — they’re good!
