I’m a fan of this place. Got that mom and pop/authentic feel to it. Food is good and reasonable. Been here probably 5 times and their gyro is my go to!

The olivit salad is amazing. I subbed the provolone for feta and took out the peppers. I’m in love. And the bread!!! Delicious! Will return.

Disclaimer: The person that typed this review has no knowledge about Mediterranean foods nor could he pronounce them even when reading off of the menu but will type out the experience that he had on the First day of the year 2016. I came here because of the choice of a friend that said she had a coupon for half off of a $ 30+ meal so I was wisked in because of the enthusiasm that she wanted me to try. This little restaurant is located on the East side of Louetta and the North side of Cypresswood tucked a little bar on the end cap of a strip center. If you see a Starbucks, you are there, right next to it, sort of. When you walk in you will be transformed into the likes of a snug dining room with medium lighting(dinner time) and not so overwhelming«Habib radio» music. As you are sat at your table you will see that there are«pillows» spread out along the hardwood bench type seating, this is not for pillow fighting so do not get your inner child coming out here. The menu is self-explanatory along with the prices on the right printed on a trifold menu, there is something for everybody. I’m glad the person knew what to order because if you are not familiar with this type of food like I am not, then you might as well close your eyes and dab a fork on the menu to see where it lands. We got the $ 37.99 combination/sampler which was an abundance of food in what I would say for about 4 people. I tried to tackle it but almost had to be rolled like a mega pregnant hippopotamus, I was defeated here! The presentation, the smell as well as the taste will have you glad that you ventured out of the comfort food box and tried these. I can only show you the pictures of what I ate and hopefully if you haven’t already eaten here before that you might bookmark it and try this sampler, just make sure you haven’t eaten in a few days or you brought your extended family. The service was stellar here but factor in that this was at night time and there was only one other table in here when we entered. Alexis who should have a shrine to her name for the above and beyond bubbly service that can hardly be matched except by maybe somebody that has ever worked at a 5-star hotel. You people that travel knows exactly what I’m talking about. It is sad to hear that January 10 will be her last day here from what we understood. The coupon that was supposed to have taken half off of the price was not read right which stated that cannot be used Friday, Saturday or Sunday, expensive lesson learned. The manager wouldn’t even budge on it but that is not his fault. The three hours that we spend there was a relaxing one in «wow» with the food and good conversation about the old/new year to come and may I remind you that the ambiance of the restaurant will almost make you forget where you are. The tab for the sampler, an extra soup came out to about $ 44 plus tip(only water was consumed).

After passing by Olivit almost daily, we decided to stop in for lunch. Started with an appetizer of hummus and falafel. The hummus was delicious, falafel could be a little crispier but that’s just our preference. Loved the pickled veggies that came as an accompaniment to the falafel. We ordered out entrées, the mixed grill and chicken shawarma plate, then waited for our soups to arrive. I had the lentil soup, very tasty! Hubby ordered the spicy lamb soup, just enough spice to satisfy our palate without burning our tastebuds. Service was excellent; our waitress was friendly and attentive. The mixed grill was delicious, I don’t think the chicken shawarma my hubby ordered was amazing BUT shawarma means many different things at different restaurants. Giving 4 starts because their entrees are a little pricy for what they are.

This little hidden place is surprisingly great with top notch quality. The staff was extremely attentive, almost waiting on their toes for anyone to look in their direction. Food: We tried both soups and they were so tasty and fresh. My wife loves the lamb one. Hummus was spicy and fresh. So addicting The fresh bread was like a soft pillow. Great quality The beef cubes were very tender and well seasoned. This was my favorite The chicken cubes were nice as well The beef kabob was OK The lemonade slush was so refreshing with fresh mint leaves This place really cares and makes great quality food. They have an extensive Mediterranean menu and cozy seating. Give it a try.

I ordered take out on a whim. I don’t believe I will ever go back. I ordered the lamb quallaya sandwich special with fries and a drink, and a small order of falafel. The waitress was very friendly and helpful and the quallaya was flavorful. That was the positive. The falafel we cold and the taste was solid garlic; no parsley, onion, etc. At $ 5.49 I expected awesome! A place 1 mile west and another at the corner of Vets &1960 have always fulfilled my desire for falafel and will in the future. The rest of the staff seemed to be in a rush to have me leave. Were they trying to close early? My fries were not with my order. I didn’t miss them, but it’s the principle of getting what you pay for.

Olivit is one of the best Mediterranean restaurant I’ve eaten at in quite some time. Haven traveled all over the U.S. Hawaii, and Asia that’s saying a lot. For a restaurant that has captured my taste buds is a wonderful surprise, especially being that I found it in Spring Texas… yum!

I guess I’ve been here a time or two when the service was less than — but man, their food makes up for it. I love the chicken hummus, the garlic sauce should be ordered on the side for everything and anything — and the sandwiches are all off the chain. I did get the Greek salad once and I could not eat the dressing. It was very, very tart but that might just be my tastebuds being trained by the chain, Zoe’s Kitchen, to expect something else. Every other time this place has been on point!

I give this place 1 star for price and 5 star for decorations and taste. The food was delicious but I am a skinny guy with a skinny family and we were still starving after we ate the tiny serving of food they gave us. For 3 people out bill was $ 78. Their pricing is way over the top ridiculous for what you get. I literally will never go back there based on their very strange pricing. I will say that the employees were extremely nice and fun to talk to. I have paid less for 5 people at better restaurants and still had leftovers. By the way we ordered the cheapest thing we could find. Again I will not return because the food price is an amusing insult to my intelligence.

This place has some of the best hummus I’ve ever had. I also love the flavoring of their chicken. The portions are huge, and even when I get the lunch sized portion of salad, there is enough to take home for another meal!

They were out of everything! No sparking water, mineral water, apple juice. Service was horrible too! Won’t be back

No need to drive down to Westheimer and Montrose for great Mediterranean food. This is a fantastic restaurant. It’s mom and pop or son or cousin, possibly brother. Don’t expect 5 star service. BUT, you can expect and incredibly tasty meal. Start with the Hummus and Lamb. If you do not get this, then you are missing out!!! The Zenga soup is Outstanding. The Greek Lasagna is killer. If you are unsure what to eat, you can trust the waiters. They know this menu and can point you in the right direction.

Hands down our favorite restaurant in the area. Super cozy and clean. Amazing food — everything is fresh and made there. Me and my husband usually get half hummus and a shawarma plate. Its more than enough for two people and we still bring leftovers home.($ 20 final tab) The owner is the sweetest guy. Someone mentioned«an unprofessional waiter wearing jeans». Staff wears all black and the owner always wears jeans and a hat. Neverless, he’s nothing but professional and nice. We are absolutely in love with this place.

5 star food-Love the food. Best babaganoush ever! Highly recommended the hummus sampler with tabouli and babaganoush. Bread is very fresh. Hummus with lamb and lamb kebabs are great. Soups are great too. Restaurant is BYOB with Specs right next door. Small cork fee and they require you use plastic cups so their glasses are not ‘tainted’. 2.5 star service. It is very hit or miss. Many times it is fine, other times it is dismal. I don’t think they train the staff, it is sink or swim. Have had to leave before due to long waits since only one waiter was on duty for the whole place.

Great menu, friendly service. Ample parking. Quality fresh food. Price is reasonable for area. The cook does good job of cooking, managing and sometimes running the front too. Usually I’ll get the chicken kabob with salad or chicken shawarma wrap. There is plenty of options.

So me and the hubby came on a good night. The atmosphere is dim and very intimate. Good music playing in the background. If it were up to my hubby he would give it 5 stars. *Now for some background, we have never had Mediterranean food. So with that being said: As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. Our waiter was very nice charming and helpful. Sodas are bottled so you do have to pay for a «refill» For an appetizer we got the spicy hummus which we both loved! The new its bread was so fresh, warm, and soft. It was actually the best part of the meal. It isn’t Too spicy but it does give you a kick in the mouth. My hubby got a gyro and I got a lamb kabob(I think that’s what it’s calle) it looked like a skinny burrito if that makes sense. The lamb was very good. Cooked very nicely. My hubby enjoyed the gyro and stated that the tahziki(some sauce) was good. The only negatives was cleanliness. The restroom was clean but the toilet seat covers and paper towels need restocking. There wasn’t any! And when we left there were condoms on the floor. I know it’s not the restaurants responsibility for the outside but it was right outside the door. So that was a little disturbing.

Okay, I don’t know why people are leaving good reviews on this place, I’ve been trying to find a good Mediterranean restaurant in Houston, since I’m from Austin but I decided to give it a try but I’m really disappointed. First of all I got here waited for a good 15 min and nobody will come, finally one of the three guys came around to take the order, waited again for a coffee, waited again for 25 min to get my food incomplete, the chicken was horrible cook in the microwave from the day before, that’s how bad it was. I ate as much as I could handle cause I was hungry but I left almost everything. I will never comeback to this place again, I decided to give up on finding a decent place to have Mediterranean food . By the way, there were only three tables occupy, what the hell ?? The waiter(only one) wearing a cap and blue jeans with holes in it, I mean nothing professional or decent service at all, didn’t seem to know what he was doing either . Don’t make the same mistake I did please, stay away from this place. Very pricey as well . If I could I would give it zero stars.

My friend and I came here to eat gyros. The pita were nice and soft, and very fresh. The meat was good and the thing was absolutely overflowing, it was hard to eat gracefully. Don’t eat a gyro on a first date, I’m just sayin’. I have had tastier gyros, and I have had gyros at a mall. This falls right in between. The fries, I swear they took a potato in the kitchen and cut it up then and there, they were so fresh. They were thick cut fries, not greasy, plenty of them, and very hot when they arrived. My friend got her fries 5 minutes after I got mine, we ordered at the same time. That is why I think when the kitchen gets an order for fries, they cut up a potato and complete the order. Then they look at the next order. Oh, fries? Let me cut up another potato. The service was not very good though. There was a help wanted sign on the door. I asked for some more sauce and it didn’t come til I was done with my gyro and didn’t need it anymore. They took a long time to do anything, a long time to seat us, a long time to bring the check, a long time to pick up payment. There were plenty of patrons inside. It’s on the dark side in there, sparsely decorated but that’s okay. You’re just not going to get Nico Nico’s, nor their prices!!! Olivit is pretty inexpensive. It’s an okay place. Probably would go back to get a gyro and more of dem fries.
