So I’ll be as descriptive as I can. I’ll also preface this by saying I really wanted to like this place and am going to give it another shot. I joined a few years back when living out by the galleria in Houston. I live on the east coast now and enjoy my membership there. First time at this location so I had to do the paperwork. I showed up about 5 – 7 minutes prior to 6PM and the gentleman at the front had a clipboard and pen waiting. I flew through the paper and gave it back and within minutes was called back. So in terms of punctuality I had no issue there. I had booked a 90 minute massage and was in the room at 5:58PM. Can’t remember the lady’s name. Sher– or Shar– something, idk. Unfortunately, the massage itself was the worst, most unprofessional massage I’ve had at an M.E. ever… and I mean ever. I told the masseuse the massage was for solely for relaxation purposes and also made a SPECIFIC request that the last 15 minutes be spent on neck/scalp. She said OK, which to me means that she heard me was agreeing to get that done. Started on my stomach as I normally would. Seemed as though she spent 45 – 50 minutes on just my back alone. And I’ve never… EVER had someone use so much elbow in a massage. I don’t know what pressure points she was looking for with her elbows, but the hard things in a person’s body are called bones… no need to massage those… or in this case elbow the crap out of them. The pressure on my back was fine, but what she was doing isn’t classified as massage. After forever on my back, she proceeded to do about 5 – 10 minutes on my neck and scalp. I specifically requested that at the end, however, I was thinking she was going to revisit once I flipped over. She breezed over the arms pretty much and then moved down to the legs, where she proceeded to just put lotion on them. At this point I’m just ready to leave. When I flip over I get a glimpse of the clock and it’s 7:06. I figure she’s going to end around 7:25 so I’m trying to think how’s going to get feet, legs, arms, neck and scalp in that time period. Here’s how: — breeze over arms(the 30 second hand massage was actually nice). — flip up the blanket and do the feet — Massage half way up the calf muscle. — forget about the rest of the legs altogether. — forget about the neck and scalp as well… even though this was my SINGLE request out of the massage. MASSAGEOVER… look at the clock…7:20PM. Cons: — whenever she massaged a body part, she never covered it back up. — when she exposed a body part, the sheet/blanket was literally flipped up like you would when you get out of bed in the morning. — not a huge deal, but when it was time to flip over, she just simply said… flip over and put your head where your chest is. no lifting of the sheet or assistance whatsoever. — elbows, elbows ELBOWS… and a little forearm. — I’m still sore… I went into the massage pain free(that’s a first) — didn’t listen to my one request. — Heavy on the massage oils. — Jesus Christ those ELBOWS… Pros: — The little time she spent on neck and scalp was nice. — Hand massage. — Front of the house staff was awesome and showed empathy. The guys at the front are one of two reasons I’m going back to try again. They recommended a specific therapist this time for me. The other reason is this place is only a mile from my hotel. Hopefully it’ll get better. One star given because I have to and the other star is for the front desk staff.

Very unpleasant massage. The masseuse(female) either had poor dental hygiene or smoked right before the session and just talked non stop, really didn’t take any cues that I needed quiet. Very aggressive in her pitch(30 more minutes, get my spouse to sign up, when was I coming in next, I should come in at least 2x a month if not more, just non-stop and annoying. Massage started late and ended early. Avoid.

I have been going to Massage Envy for a while but I just signed up for a membership with Massage Envy at Market Street and scheduled my first massage on the membership price. The massage was a few days after I got back from a week long vacation to Mexico. Once I got back, I wasn’t feeling well and seemed to have contracted some type of stomach bug. I scheduled a doctor’s appointment and called to cancel my massage. My understanding when I signed up for my membership was that the 50% charge for a same day cancellation wasn’t in effect for illness or something legitimate. However, when I called to cancel I was told that if I didn’t come, regardless of the reason, I would be charged. I understand the policy but in this case the fee should be waived. I would have even been happy to provide a doctor’s note if that would make a difference. I asked the girl up front, «So you would rather take the risk of getting your staff sick by having me come for my massage than just waive a fee?» I was told that the 50% is just their policy, which I find absolutely ridiculous and irresponsible. I am also completely unimpressed by how they treat their members and I will not be renewing my membership when it is up in January. I will also recommend that people don’t sign up for a membership there either. I am going to my massage in about an hour and if the staff catch some nasty funk from Mexico they can talk to Samantha up front.

Had an awesome massage from Amana… got right in after filling out the paperwork(first time)…Other reviews may be due to the day/time of week their appointments were scheduled… Only thing is the place is a little dirty and in need of repair… Im not a big clean freak but its noticeable with this place especially a spa… Very friendly and accommodating team… Would come back again… stars represent clutter/cleanliness

The relaxation rooms location is right by a door where people go in and out. Real relaxing let me tell you. My appt ran about 7 mins late and then she finished early so let’s just say she wasn’t tipped. I have knots in my back that are worse then when I came in now. I’d never recommend it. The front desk people had no clue what they were doing and kept reassuring me they did and had it under control but no! I was really disappointed. Had a gift card and was looking forward to it…

Therapist had decent pressure but not deep tissue like I requested. Areas she worked deeper were on bones vs muscle and she didn’t know or work any muscle groups I requested.

I would like to write a fair review about this location but unfortunately I can’t seem to get another appointment to review. I moved here from San Diego back in February, where I joined in August of 2007 and never had an issue and was an extremely happy customer! When I moved, I had some time off and had a massage which was good. Since then, every time I try and make an appointment, all therapists are booked. When I asked to speak to a Manager, she was never available so I asked the associate at the desk why are the appointments so limited? I was told verbatim, we only have a few therapists and most of them prefer not to work on the weekends. Really? There are so many of us who work during the week and the weekends are our only time to relax. I just called again today for Friday, Saturday or Sunday and they are booked due to lack of staffing. I will be canceling my membership after 8 years due to the lack of customer service and the issue with them hiring ethical therapists…

This is quite possibly the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Their services are mediocre at best(one therapist smelled like I had interrupted her smoke break) but their membership scheme is a total scam. So-much-so it is probably illegal. We were asked to sign-up for a year membership during which we were told we would receive a free massage each per month and that these would accumulate and not expire. Well, BIG year in 2013 and with getting married and my wife then getting pregnant straight away we had very little time to use for Massage Envy. Come to November when we wanted to cancel our membership a month early… I may as well have asked them to give me an entire free year! Canceling a membership with these clowns is almost impossible. Then they make you wait a full month afterwards AND you lose all your free massages accrued up to that point. Not only that, we managed to get them to honor a single one for my wife who then had to cancel 24HOURS beforehand and they are trying to charge us 50% of the cost of a full-price one! Disgusting behavior. Stay well away from Massage Envy. Do something more productive with your money like throwing $ 69 into the sewer on the first of every month.

Great service and the massages and facials are amazing. I do use the Murad products and I feel like they are of good quality but a little too expensive. I definitely recommend this location but I have not had good luck with the online reservation system.

The best thing about this place is a godsend massage artist named Cruz– she is a godsend and the only person I wan touching me here! Newer management and you can tell its different, not better. I went today and find it seems to be a pattern that you have one good demeanor girl working to death out front while the managers sent on their butts in the office… it’s kind of irritating because I feel if they had better service, I wouldn’t have to endure dumb crap like being booked wrong or my appointment not being cancelled when I call or defaulting a session to 90 not 60 minutes. Honestly… if Cruz wasn’t here, I’d never be back.

Nearly six years ago, my sweet father gave me a year-long membership for a monthly, one hour deep tissues, therapeutic massage to ease my fibromyalgia. He put his credit card on file with Massage Envy at Market Street and instructed the staff that I would be adding gratuity to his account each time I visited, which I’ve gratefully done. Took a few visits before I found a good match with massage therapist Savannah. She’s awesome but, sorry guys, only works with women. If it weren’t for Savannah, I would have switched Dad’s gift elsewhere because their prices are a bit steep compared to other, independent therapists I’ve met over the years. The facility is well appointed and clean, the staff friendly and helpful. At least they were until today when I was instructed at the front desk that the new owner’s policy requires customers to present their credit card to add gratuity. After pleading my case, the manager begrudgingly let it go but only after insinuating that I was attempting credit card fraud. A better response mighthave been, «Thank you for bringing us your business for nearly six years» or «let’s contact your father for permission.» I think this Christmas, when Dad offers to renew, we’ll take our faithful patronage where it’s APPRECIATED!

I have been looking for a good place to relax and this was the perfect spot. I immediately became a member and plan on giving these for gifts. I am finding it hard to get appointments, apparently they are very busy.

Much like the wisdom offered by Forrest Gump’s mother, getting a massage at Massage Envy is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get… unless you go thru the trial and error process of finding a MT that you really like and can manage to find open appointments… which often become a stress point in itself because odds are, that person has now become everybody else’s favorite as well. As a result, I have a bank of almost 2 years of unused massages that I’ve tried to use in pairs for hot stone massages —which, btw, are quite lovely– but there is a very limited number of therapists who know how to do it, much less know how to do it well. I’ve actually had to schedule sessions at 3 different locations in an effort to try and catch an MT who could do one. I’ve wanted to gift a hefty portion of my «bank» to friends and such, but ME won’t allow the transfer. You can buy a massage for someone, but you can’t give them one you bought for yourself. Major bummer. Believe it or not, I’m still on their automatic ding your credit card once a month thing. If I stop, I totally lose my bank of massages. They will allow me to skip some months and not be charged for them, but I also can’t come in for a massage during those months.(What the heck is the point of that if I’m trying to work off a surplus?) I’m sorta caught in a no-win situation here trying to not lose the money I paid for services I never received. Then too, there’s the matter of the post-massage tip for the MT. Massage Envy looks like a really great deal because of the low monthly cost, but it pretty much evens out when you add the tip. If I had it to do over, I’d look for a really great self-employed MT/PT/RN and be happy to pay the equivalent or more for a consistently good experience and regular scheduling. Who knew trying to get a massage could be so stressful?
