If you live in The Woodlands, the food here is worth ‘crossing the freeway’ for. It’s the best Chinese restaurant around: fresh ingredients, wonderful sauces, flavorful without being greasy. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is the service. They are understaffed so the service is harried and even, sometimes, rude. I think most of their business is takeout and the one employee who waits table is constantly occupied taking phone orders and managing the takeout customers at the cash register. If they ever add a full-time, friendly server they will deserve a full five stars.

Chris B. wonders if there is a «how to start a Chinese restaurant» web site that has a standard menu — and I agree. You can pick any Chinese restaurant in the area and know that you can order your same dish at each and every one. My other half always picks orange chicken, and I order the garlic chicken. At Hunan Jade, your meal includes the entrée and a side of rice. I always add the egg roll appetizer(two rolls per order) with sweet and sour sauce to round off the meals. Five times we have called and ordered for delivery and, each time, — they have been brief but polite on the phone, — true to their estimated time, — orders have been right, — The driver also humors our request to call and not knock on our door! You see. I have three dachshunds, and that means a tiny army trying to get to the intruder at the door X] So we take them to the back yard and sneak out to get the food when the driver calls! We moved out of their deliver range last week, and we are upset that we have to start our search for reliable Chinese food over again. Until next time, Hunan Jade!

I would give them zero stars if I could. Delivery took over an hour both times I ordered and this second order I didn’t even receive my food! I ordered 4 dinners but only received 3 and when I called to find out what happened she wasn’t very apologetic except to offer me a credit. I asked what am I going to eat now? I want someone to bring me my food that I paid for and didn’t receive!

Prices are nice, food was very meh, staff was very friendly. There’s just better options around if you want Chinese food.

Egg foo young with chicken and vegetables is excellent. Great crab puffs. Lo mein good flavor but hardly any meat and more like spaghetti noodles. Chicken vegetable soup very good and light. Kiddo loves their chicken nuggets, are thin and crispy battered.

I thought it was pretty decent and close to home compared to another one nearby that we tried. Great crab rangoons and their fried rice is good. Not bad.

So gross — especially considering the amount of Chinese food options near here. They deliver, so they got a couple of stars. Stay away from the shrimp with lobster sauce. It wasn’t authentic at all. Looked like they cooked shrimp in egg drop soup.

While the food is generally good the service is lacking. There is no consistency to the quality of food. After my latest order I won’t be ordering again anytime soon. I ordered a vegetable Singapore noodles no curry(the same as I always do) and I received a Singapore noodles full of meat no curry. When we called about it all he would say is you only said no curry. I didn’t know asking for a vegetable version of something still requires you to say no meat. Very disappointed.

Since this place is very close and convenient for us we really wanted it to be a regular for us. Our family has eaten in 3 times there and had take-out maybe 3 or 4 other times, so between all the family members we’ve had a very wide cross-section of their various menu items. but now we’ve finally decided to cross it off our Asian list. –No issues with the menu, it’s as varied as any other average area Chinese restaurant, –No issues with prices or portions, they’re very average. –No issues with the family running it, the wife that runs the front is very nice and personable(contrary to another reviewer’s previous remarks). –No issues with cleanliness or décor, they’re both a bit better than average area Chinese. Our issue is with the blandness of the food tastes. Everything we’ve tried has been very bland, just not much taste. Doesn’t taste bad, just not much flavor.

Dropping my rating because we found a number of places in the area that are now superior. Past two times have really disappointed us. Just no flavor… even with the little plastic packets of soy sauce.

We ordered delivery which was timely. The large bowl of Won Ton soup was really good and big for the price. My boyfriend had the Sesame Chicken and he liked it. I had the General Tso’s Chicken and I was pleased to find it had a kick to it(spicy) as so many places do not. The crab puffs were also good. Overall it was a tasty experience and we will order from here again.

Not again. I should have stuck with Golden China! Ordered the beef and broccoli, they would not sub rice for egg roll(GC will, just do it, come on and work with me, don’t just shake your head…) Food I got was lame. Broccoli wasn’t prepared as well and seemed less fresh than Golden China’s, the pieces were too big and had too much stem n’ stuff. Meat was weird, I didn’t even finish it!(the cuts from GC are better imo). Won’t be back :-/I gave them a shot because I was driving by, but they failed.

Have you ever been to a Chinese restaurant in the US before? Then you’ve already eaten here, whether it was actually HERE here or not. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen the menu before. Not a menu like it, but the actual, honest-to-goodness same exact menu. It’s like there’s a «how to start a Chinese restaurant» web site that lets you download and print it. I hate sounding too negative. The couple running the place was wonderful. Prices were crazy low, making it a GREAT value at lunch. But there’s also nothing unique about this place over every other Chinese place out there. So, is Hunan Jade the closest Chinese restaurant to where you are? Perfect! You’ll have a decent meal. Otherwise, just go wherever’s closest.

When we got here(around 7 pm), there was only two other parties eating. It is a small joint — four booths and 6 four-person tables. this meal was a «take out» order. The Chinese woman behind the small desk/stand was very polite and friendly. She patiently waited for us to make our order — never felt rushed. I can only comment on my dish, as I only eat one thing when it comes to Chinese food: Sesame Chicken. This restaurants rendition of SC is different from what I ideally like. However, it wasn’t bad. I like a more sweet(best word I can think of to describe it) SC. This had a lite soy, not exactly sweet, but not sour, taste. The other 4 dishes we got for the rest to eat, we’re very good, according to my other family members that ate. I don’t think I’d ever order this SC again, but who knows, perhaps next time I’m down south my taste buds will have expanded :)
