Ever find yourself out in the middle of nowhere, and need a place to stay overnight? We did when we grossly miscalculated how long it would take to get here leaving at 4PM. We were bringing our son to the Midwest Morris Ale campgrounds on Memorial Day weekend. In the pitch black, after we drop him off, we get on the main road, and off to the right is a motel. We get there at midnight, my husband is greeted by a friendly woman who tells him there is one room left. The others were filled with bikers on the way to Madison, no doubt. It was 38 miles away. It was a 2 queen bed room. Bed was so comfortable, I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. They have the cutest table setup as you walk in, and the sink and coffee area is behind it. I totally agree with Stephen M. review, except he didn’t mention that there are tall toilets in the bathroom. I liked the shower, too. I was able to catch another friendly staff member, and was able to donate my towels. We were charged $ 85, and she felt bad about charging that. I loved that everything was ground floor, and we were near the end. They offer good cable stations too. We enjoyed this unexpected trip so much, we drove back on Hwy. 61. A perfect example of a trip going from lemons to lemonade.

This is a gem of a motel. I’m not sure where the other reviewers came up with their comments but you would be hard pressed to find another motel this clean and so well appointed. One caveat: get a room in the back away from the highway as the highway noise is very loud. The king bed room is large and includes a sink, microwave, small refrigerator and small table to eat at. The bed is very comfortable. The room air conditioner appears new and has electronic controls and is very quiet. There is free wifi, flat screen HDTV mounted on a telescoping and swiveling arm and even a telephone. Bathroom sink has a good sized counter. Shower tub has a shower curtain. Shower water pressure is good though the water is a bit soft. There was the faint smell of paint as if the room may have recently been painted, though it wasn’t offensive. The room wasn’t inexpensive at $ 125, but it does include a continental breakfast. Breakfast items were simple with coffee and tea, cereal, bread and toaster, hard boiled eggs, some limited pastries, instant oatmeal and several juices. One added feature you won’t find elsewhere: they have an area out back where they are raising chickens in what looks like a doll house. The chickens are very entertaining and even have some duck friends who come to visit. If you have children, they will be enthralled with the chickens! No, there is no odor coming from the chicken house. Lastly, they have a basketball court with playground out back. The court even has lights on it! Don’t even hesitate to stay here. The owners and the staff are Wisconsin friendly!

$ 50 hotel charging $ 100. Nice grounds and well maintained exterior left us ill prepared for the depressing room with«furniture» constructed of prefabricated countertops, cheap bedding, paper-thin pillows, stained bottom-of-the-line commercial carpeting, beat-up lampshades and bent mini blinds. On the positive side, I will concede that there was nothing overtly dirty except for the carpet.

Decent little motel for the money though a bit off the beaten path — near Taliesin and a few miles outside of town. The staff was very accommodating(actually left us a key literally under the mat for a late check-in). There is a free breakfast and a nice fire pit going most evenings.
