Good beer. Little disappointed they charge for the peanuts. That’s weird. Bartenders weren’t very friendly, I tried… they seemed annoyed that we were here. Bathroom was clean, parking was decent, bar was pretty clean.

Great brewery. Good beer selection for a small brewery. I especially enjoyed the two stouts, and the small batch stouts that come and go. They have bar snacks, which most breweries don’t seem to have, including a hummus plate. The best attribute is the service. The owner really takes care of his customers. I highly recommend 12 string for beer lovers.

12 String is the 3rd best brewery in Spokane County after No-Li and Iron Goat. Love the IPA’s and variety. Just ignore all the stupid comments about servers that worked there 2 years ago, the beer is great. We went there during craft beer week. It was packed but we got great service and the owner was very personable.

Atmosphere: hence the name, place is filled with guitars(art, guitars, beer names and even the taster board) very cool! Parking: very easy big lot free parking Beer: we got a taster of 6 to share(3 lights and 3 IPAs). Amazing beer! All were legit, good tasting beers! They also had some infused ones. I tried tequila aged barell mambo mango hef which was very good! Food: they have some cheese/meat plates, hummus plate and chips/salsa. We had the meat/cheese plate which was 7 dollars and tasted good. Service: one bartender but place was not so busy. Friendly, fast and attentive. We did this part of the northwest ale trail which they give a sticker versus a stamp. Highly recommend this place ! One of the best if not the gear brewery in Spokane.

The most important thing is that the beer is awesome. The tap room is small. The girl serving was not friendly. She wasn’t rude just uninterested in any of the customers.

This brewery had A TON. Of brews on tap… 19 to be exact. So many in fact that they seemed to have a beer identity crisis. It felt like they just threw everything that came out on the taps and hoped something stuck! The girl serving had NO idea what was on tap or the difference between them, she was just there to pull the handle on the keg-o-rator. It has potential, was a nice place, wasn’t like any area tap room I’ve been in… But needs refining. Ps EXPENSIVE!

Wife and I stopped in here on a little brewery tour we decided to do when we were in Spokane. And boy are we glad we did. The atmosphere is cool and low-key. They keep the place dark and dimly lit, which makes for a great classy old bar vibe. There is lots of wood around and plenty of bar seating(as well as table seating), so you can get exactly the sort of atmosphere you’re looking for. They do have a TV(tuned to a basketball game when I was there), but it doesn’t overwhelm the feel of the place to make it into a sports bar. But if you’re coming to a place like this, you’re coming for the beer, right? Here are some of the beer highlights: — 12 different taps. There will certainly be something for everyone, as they have a nice mix of styles. — They have a cask system. I was able to try their Spring Reverb on both draft and cask. Doing that side-by-side really lets you see the differences in freshness. It was really fun, and not something you can find all that frequently. — When I was there, they had their Drop D Stout on draft, both as the normal version and the wine barrel aged version. That was also awesome to see how the aging process affects and imparts flavor. All in all, the quality of beer is very solid. I thought the darker beers were done a little better than the lighter ones, but I don’t have any complaints on the lighter ones. They do have a limited food options, so you can pick up something to snack on while you’re there. Wife and I got a meat and cheese plate. Definitely not a place to stop for a meal, though. Service was solid, but nothing special. It was just the bartender in there, and she was able to keep up with everyone in the place. I wouldn’t classify the service as «amazing» or anything, but solid. All in all, totally an awesome place to stop. One of the better beer spots in Spokane, and a really great option for the valley. I’d happily come back in.

Been doing this Ale Trail Map — and working to support the micro-brewerys lately. I think 12 String is the best from a few perspectives 1) Beer Taste — they do a super job of holding true to the style of beer produced. 2) Breadth /Variety — I recall tasting 10 or so different beers /ales there and they are all good to great tasting — and as I said, true to the style. 3) Tasting room — atmosphere — sometimes a bit loud, but hey you are there to relax a bit. Good variety of patrons all liking the experience. They even have live music on some nights — to they are true to supporting the(guitar) arts. 4) Options — they have Cider & wine for the non-beer drinkers(my wife appreciates that). The only complaint is that they get a bit busy for the staff level — which they certainly are not going to complain about. But since they are expanding a bit — I expect that is fixed now. So go with the right perspective and enjoy! I do want to support a good thing — I ALWAYS order 12 String if I see it on tap at local restaurants.

12 String Brewing has one of the most gorgeous taprooms I have come across in awhile. I’m definitely a fan of all the wood. It’s appropriate that they are named for a twelve string guitar as the beer names all tie into the theme and there’s a stage in the corner for future musical events. I can’t wait to see the owner play! We always lower our expectations when visiting a new brewery for the first time as it’s a huge undertaking and a lot of kinks to work out. We were more than pleasantly surprised by our visit. There was a nice crowd inside yet the service remained attentive and helpful as the place slowly filled up. Despite being a brewery, they have a nice selection of wine and even a cider on tap. Prices are reasonable, $ 4 a pint and $ 1 for a 4oz taste. Food choices are currently limited to peanuts and chips and salsa. The beer line-up is completely solid. My favorite was their coffee infused Porter, the Don’t Fret Porter. It has a great balance to it and I’d gladly substitute it for my morning coffee anyday.(Don’t judge me). A close second was a nod to the roundabout just outside, the seasonal Roundabout Confusion with chocolate and caramel. Definitely order it if you see it on tap. For a blonde, the G-String Blonde had a nice hop character to it and is a good choice for the folks who don’t like bigger beers. The Archtop Amber was a really delicious malty beer. I enjoyed them all quite a bit except the Electric Slide IPA, but my boyfriend liked it and I got my IPA fix with their seasonal Jam Session IPA. Three things to consider when visiting 12 String: –Pay attention on the roundabout, depending on what direction you are coming from, pulling in to the lot can get tricky. Pulling out can be equally sticky. Be careful. –The acoustics need some work. The echoing is a bit much and we might have stayed longer had the noise not been so harsh. I almost dropped it to a three for that reason, but I figured this is an easy fix. I know a new taproom that had the same problem and they slapped up some decorative rugs on the wall until a more permanent solution could be worked out. For the visitor, I might suggest bringing earplugs or drink your beer fast. –There was no phone number that I could find. Check their facebook page for the lastest news and to be sure they are open. At the time of this writing, they are currently open Wednesday thru Saturday. Not only is 12 String a welcome addition to the area, but it’s a welcome addition to my visits here so that I don’t dry out in this climate. Cheers!
