We have ordered tofu and dim sum from the delivery menu on two occasions and were pleasantly surprised given the hit-or-miss nature of Chinese cuisine in the Spokane area. Having actually eaten at this establishment today and knowing where the food comes from — not to mention feeling sick after eating there — we will be staying far, far away. Upon setting foot inside the restaurant, we questioned whether we wanted to stay and eat. The restaurant smelled like urine, the carpet looked worn and unclean, the booth was sticky, and a staff person used their fingers to sample a dish on the buffet. Not only did the hostess fail to acknowledge and seat us(she had her ear buds in and seemed unconcerned with customers), but she also physically pushed me out of her way at the buffet so she could put food on her plate. Sadly, the food did not compensate for the unsanitary and unwelcoming atmosphere. Many dishes lacked labels, making it hard for vegetarians to decipher which items they could eat. Food appeared either stale or overcooked; some of the meat items were not kept appropriately hot. A single set of tongs was used for multiple items on the buffet line. Used plates sat on the buffet. Not surprisingly, this restaurant has failed multiple inspections over the last three years. Had we read the inspection history on the Spokane Regional Health District website, we would never have eaten here. How this restaurant has avoided being shut down puzzles me. If you’re looking to risk contracting a food-borne illness, Hong Kong Buffet on East Indiana is the place for you. In summary: this is an «as much as you can bear to eat,» rather than an «all you can eat» buffet. Be sure to get your Hepatitis A vaccinations, kids!

This is okay for a buffet style Chinese restaurant. The place is clean for the most part and the food is fresh if you come at normal meal hours. The Phở or «Soup Bar» should be avoided. You will be disappointed If you are expecting a flavorful bowl of veggies and noodles in a tasty broth. This is more like glorified canned soup. But their fried rice is great as is there buffet selection. As always, I’d be weary of consuming fish from a buffet but that’s a personal choice you must make. In all honesty, this is one of the better buffets in the area. The waiters are very attentive and quick to keep your table clean as well. If you are in the mood for a quick bite, stop in to Hong Kong Buffet!

Arrived promptly, tasted great. Had the general tsos chicken and cheese Rangoon, and they were some of the best I’ve had locally. Wish there’d been more rice though.

Went back after a year to this place to give them another try. Still the same sticky floor/carpet. Not much has changed. However, i am upgrading my review to 2 stars just because they have a bit more seafood now. I just hope there were other alternative buffet places other than this place and timbercreek in the Valley. I wish they would remodel or make the place look a bit cleaner soon.

As many of you know i am picky on asian food… But this place does only ok at best. They offer sushi which is basic and cheaply done — does not taste very authentic at all. What more could one expect from a buffet? The soups were hot and ok. The dishes were plentiful with meat and veggies. More meat than veggies. A lot of different choices and something for everyone. Even offer ribs an american salad bar and cook to order hu-hot /tapanaki grill. Gotta give a 2. Average. Nothing new or niche to make it stand out above the crowd.

I joined a friend for dinner here(her choice, buffets aren’t my cup of tea). The restaurant just kinda feels like one big cafeteria, it wasn’t clean, and the food was pretty mediocre. When we went to pay up at the front the cashier didn’t even get off her phone. Ive never been a fan of buffet style restaurants but this one defiantly lowered the bar. Like other reviewers have mentioned Im also surprised they stay open.

I have had food delivered from this place a few times, and it was pretty good, so I thought the reviews here had to be exaggerated. They were not. The place is dirty and dingy looking. The food is repulsive. The only thing I liked was their veggie egg foo young. I felt guilty leaving so much of what I took on the plate, but really, one bite of each thing was enough to convince me to try something else. And yeah, that dessert section is funky. Some of it looks good, but tastes weird, and some of it looked stale. I am amazed this place stays open.

this place is disgusting and the staff was very rude. Very rude… When the cashier rang up my bill she was looking at her phone the entire time watching some loud video and never even looked up. But most importantly… this was definitely the dirtiest restaurant I have ever seen… WOW…

Been here quite a few times now and have always been satisfied and full. Not a lot to complain about but if I did ! There is no atmosphere there, they shuttle you in and out with the stoicism of a cadaver. No one seems to speak any english. They shout to other employees in their own language. Floors are dirty, I think they only clean them at the end of the day. But on a positive side, food has always been hot and they do keep the buffet full of entrees but not until almost empty. Soups are good, so if you just want a oriental meal with quite a large selection to choose from and not too pricey, this will do okay.

How about some food with that MSG? Why do I fall for these Chinese Buffets? it was quick and convenient and I didn’t want to wait. I knew better. Been there before and knew what I was in for and yet I fell for it once again. If you want mediocre food and a week’s worth of MSG in one sitting, this is the place. I’ve drank 316oz bottles of water since lunch time and my mouth is still dryer than a bone.

my husband wanted Chinese food while we were in the valley. We had eaten here before on the weekend buffet and it was pretty good. OMG for weekday lunch it was very dark, dinghy, dirty, dumpy, with very unfriendly staff. Don’t even bother to enter this place its terrible. The hostess was very unfriendly and was greatly put out to have to seat us as we interrupted her from texting on her phone. I had read reviews on Unilocal as we enter in hubby said«give it a chance it can’t be that bad!» Believe the reviews it is.

Like I’ve said it’s ok? Go to the Jade Garden for Dim Sum Yum Yum in Seattle, or one of the hundreds of real Chiniese food places it’s well worth the drive!

Worst meal ever! The salmon on the sushi was dried out and cut against the grail of the fish; the«lobster» was pieces of claw and legs… no tail meat that we could find; the table had sticky stuff on it, the chairs were dirty, the sides of the food hot tables had dried old food stuck to them. Most of the food was tasteless, with the exception of the food cooked in sauces. Never again!

I am rounding this rating up from the 2 ½ stars I would give if i could. I came here pretty much knowing what to expect. Been to plenty of other places like it. Lots of pretty average fare here. There are a few things that they serve that are a little out of the ordinary when it comes to Chinese food buffets, but still nothing spectacular. I came here when I want a quick fix for Chinese food, don’t wanna pay a lot and wanna stuff myself silly. There soup bar definitely stands out though. I would come here just for that.

Good place to get full but after a couple plates(if you are pigging out like I do) it gets old. Pros: –Large variety of choices –Walnut shrimp is good –BBQ salmon –Crab legs Cons: –Sushi is made to look different but really all stuffed with cream cheese(every. single. one.) –Phở bar is bad –Deserts are not good… I only liked the pudding, all the cakes looked good but tasted stale and strange –The ice cream bar is weird, they have one carton of ice cream where it looks like a mix of all the bottoms of the other ice cream that were about to run out… kinda unsanitary Conclusion: I feel like Hong Kong is an average place to eat. I think they should focus on improving their main dishes and not shoving everything they can under one roof. Get rid of the phở bar and improve the sushi bar.
