Had to travel to Brockport NY and set about to plan where to eat. Stopped here on the way, based on the comments on Unilocal and the menu. Yes. You are in Western New York. And yes you found a very good BBQ joint. I had the brisket just on the fact brisket will tell you all you need to know about a BBQ place. Great brisket. Fine pulled pork. Savory sides. It’s a hit with me and mine. Small place with limited seating, so be aware. It’s in an old bar. Worn but welcoming. If you are near there it’s worth it. Got my vote. Good plate and fair pricing. Oh and the cornbread is muffin style and as sweet as butter. Good, good, good.

This place is much better than Dinosaur or sticky lips bbq. I was here on a friday evening around 6. The place is packed. Private seating might be hard to find when it’s crowded because you order at the counter and have to find a seat. My bf and i both got the 2 meat platter and the outlaw potato. There was complimentary soup but the soup station is outside and it looked really messy, plus we anticipated a lot of food so we passed on that. The potato was really good and huge. We got everything on it and bbq beef as the meat. Very flavorful thanks to the beef. For meats we got the bbq chicken, bbq pork, brisket and sausage. The bbq chicken and pork were soooo good and flavorful, definitely my favorite. The brisket was dry, i had to pour a lot of bbq sauce on it. The sausage was decent but nothing out of this world. For sides we had the potato salad, fries, tater tota and fried green tomatos. The salad was good and everything else was nice and crispy. The cornbread muffins were adorable and very good. We also got 1⁄3 of the rib rack, it was tender but wasn’t falling off the bones like I expected, and needed more sauce for flavor. I would definitely come back just for their pulled pork, and when it’s not so crowded.

I’m just gonna go ahead and say it… this place is better than Dinosaur. Dinosaur ISGOOD… promise…but this place is awesome. Being originally from the south I have had my fair share of BBQ. This place kills it in the flavor department! My family and I have made the 20 minute drive quite a few times just to get our BBQ fix on. The brisket is super tender, the chicken was shockingly cooked to perfection, corn bread… yum, my child would eat pans of their baked beans… really guys… check it out. Your taste buds will thank you… and then you’ll thank me! Also…complimentary soup and/or chili if you donate to the high school. Can’t go wrong there. Double win.

I’m not one for BBQ so I got the country fried chicken with gravy and OHMYLANTA was it good. I sampled the rubbed ribs, pasta salad, mashed potatoes, fried chicken and monster potato. First thing’s first, we need to talk about this potato. This was the largest potato I have ever seen. And they throw EVERYTHING in the kitchen into this potato to make it this overflowing monster of deliciously fatty goodness. I’m talking cheese, bacon, sour cream, more cheese, butter, mounds and mounds of pulled pork, topped with more cheese… this was the most hardcore potato I have ever laid eyes on. This is not a potato for the faint of heart. Not the biggest fan of the mac and cheese side or the ribs, I was VERYMUCH a fan of the mashed potatoes and fried chicken. Some select beer options and they have that cool giant red soda machine in the back so help yourself to any flavor under the sun. By Brockport, this location is pretty out of the way for me but I can definitely see myself going back if I’m in the area. GPSTIP: There is a mini potato shack with the same owners and same name — make sure you’re going to the correct location as we had various phones directing us various ways.

Just got food from here. It was so good that I didn’t stop eating long enough to take a pic for Unilocal.Ribs so tender that they fall off the bone. I never even put the ribs to my mouth, just picked the meat right off with my hands with no effort at all. I tried a baked potato and it was delicious and the potato alone is enough for a meal and then some, literally. Corn bread was made just right, delicious also. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Best bbq in the area for sure. I love bbq and am very picky about it and this place always meets my expectations. They have been making improvements to your experience as of late with a rewards system and updated drink machine. Top notch food at affordable prices for great bbq. Atmosphere is pretty cool too.

Small local spot. The food has overwhelmingly large portions. The bake potato is the highlight of the establishment. Extra large potatoes loaded with anything you want. Cornbread is to die for. Complimentary soup and bread. A must visit again.

One of the best BBQ places to go to in Rochester. I had them cater our Engagement Party after trying samples of most of their dishes. Staff was super nice and the food is pretty incredible. All my guests loved the Corn and Macaroni and Cheese. Their shredded chicken and pulled pork were some of the best I’ve had. Great place, good prices, amazing BBQ sauce!

A vegetarian giving 5 stars to a Bar-B-Q Joint? Yes, it is that good. I grew up in the south west and besides fantastic Mexican food(which is still hard to find around here) there was no shortage of good bar-b-q. I can’t even begin to explain how excited I was to find a restaurant in the state of New York that makes real southern hush puppies. What other restaurants claim are hush puppies are really just corn bread stuffed with cheese and peppers, never what I was looking for. Texas Bar-B-Q Joint has the real deal. They also serve an awesome veggie burger and kick @$$ fried green tomatoes. The service is fantastic and the portion sizes are enough to make several meals out of with little cost to you. If I lived in Spencerport I would eat here on a weekly basis, as it is I make a stop there every chance I get. It is well worth the time.

Delicious barbecued ribs!!! Dinner on a Saturday night with 6 friends. We ordered just about every item on the menu to pass and share. Everything was well prepared and fresh including the one tossed salad ordered. All sides were great. Barbecued beef, brisket, turkey, pulled pork and salmon were all delicious but the ribs were the real standout. YUM!!! Free soup too! A real treat in a casual dining atmosphere. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the loaded baked potato!!! So huge you will feel a bit embarrassed to have people think you’re going to eat all that but once you dig into all that deliciousness you forget to care what anyone else is thinking about the load of yumminess before you!

I wish me and my friends could come here every day but it Texas 50 minutes to drive here. Now when me and those same friends get wild in hotel rooms, it Texas a lot more than 50 mins, believe me. So you’d think we’d be willing to drive 50 mins for this food, but since it Texas awhile to get ready, it ends up being not worth it for them. So I come alone. As usual. So to speak. What to order: The Brisket, for sure, and lots of the spicy self-serve BBQ sauces What else: Good burger, good pulled pork This is one of the best, and most underrated, BBQ spots in Rochester. I love coming here because the décor is so fun(it’s loud and old-west style, a tight-squeeze saloon that reminds me of Hard Times Café in DC). The servers are mostly friendly, a little hurried, and very attractive. Some of the customers get dressed up too. I’ve seen Cowboy hats and boots and big Texas hair and lots of glamorous girls and I’ve only been here twice. It may be that Spencerport is just full of good looking people — I don’t know. The Brisket was the highlight of my experiences here. It tastes smoky and delicious. The sandwich, which is just $ 6, has a fair amount of it on there, and it’s smoky as hell, reminding me a little of the brisket at Gates in KC, MO. I also have a love affair with the BBQ sauce. The regular is okay — homemade and a little sweet. But good. However the spicy bbq and extra hot bbq sauce they have in self-service bottles on the condiments counter, are absolutely fantastic. But be warned: they are mixed with home-made hot sauce and will blow your head off. I think that’s one of the things I like most about this place. The homemade sauces. Everything is authentic and made in-house. I’m not sure about the burger though. It was a little dry and looked like a pre-formed patty. However, when I utterly drenched it in the hot BBQ sauce, it became spectacular. So the BBQ sauce really makes the difference. Moreover, my friend had half the burger, and she doesn’t even like burgers, but with the sauce added, she said it rocked her world. The sauce is the key! I highly recommend this spot to everyone that likes BBQ. The prices are ridiculously low across the board, and the food is exceptional. Only $ 6 for a brisket sandwich. $ 6 for a big burger. $ 5 for a pulled pork sandwich. 5 stars all the way. I’ll try the famous Outlaw Potato some other time. But this BBQ is better than Dinosaur in my opinion, and as good as Sticky Lips on Culver — and similar, too. I’ve asked my friend down in Houston to come with me to this place, but(1) she’s a Vegan, and(2) she says she prefers Texas BBC to Texas BBQ. She giggled when she said that, adding«it fills me up more.» I have no idea what that means since the BBC is a TV station in the UK, not in Texas. And how could you get full eating a TV station? But if you have any idea what she might mean, let me know.

Went there for the first time last night, BBQPERFECTION. Boyfriend had a 3 meat plate(BBQ chicken, pork loin, smoked sausage) w/baked beans and mashed potatoes & gravy. Got a half rack with mac & cheese and fries to share. I got BBQ chicken w/baked beans and potato salad. Yes, way too much food! We wanted to sample as much as possible and ate MAYBE15% of it and took the rest home. Everything was incredible, down to the taste and freshness of the potato salad, crispness of the fries. Meat fell off the bone of ribs, mac & cheese was home made with real cheese, not saucy and artificial. BBQ chicken had huge chunks of white meat chicken, not shredded like crazy. Can’t say enough good things about this joint. We will be back!

Great little place. BBQ sauce was way to sweet for me, but if that’s your thing you’ll love it. Complimentary soup was a nice touch. Clean and nice.

I work for a company based in Rochester and I’m here for some training this week. I have to say that on my other trips to ROC I haven’t been very impressed with the restaurants. This time, one of my coworkers who is a local told me he would see to it that I visited some of the better places around. Today he picked this BBQ Joint. I live in Tennessee and love BBQ so I was all for it but wasn’t expecting much. I was wrong. This is some damn good BBQ! I had the brisket plate. Huge portion, much bigger than usual BBQ places for the money. Really flavorful and delicious. For sides I ordered the fried green tomatoes(I inhaled them. Perfectly done.) and baked beans which were smokey and wonderful. I had enough left from lunch to bring back to my hotel for dinner. This place is amazing. They also have«free soup» while you’re waiting. The selections looked and smelled great but I knew I already had too much food so didn’t sample. The service was fun and friendly. Three really nice guys chatted us up and provided great service. This place is a gem and would hold up next to any BBQ joints in the south.

This«joint» has excellent customer service and a wonderful value for the price. We were greeted with a very friendly and warm welcoming. Upon paying, we were welcomed to complimentary soup. The service for making our food was very fast. While a small mistake was made in preparing our food, it was resolved quickly, promptly and in a friendly manner. All of this at an unbelievable price. Strongly recommend this for dinner.

Texas BBQ is the best BBQ in Rochester. Dinosaur? VERY overrated, bland food. Sticky Lips? Good, but inconsistent. Taste Of Texas has been great every single time we have gotten it, and is a hidden gem. It’s a bonus to be able to take the food across the street and sit along the canal. I’ve had a hard time finding a place in Rochester that makes chicken fried chicken correctly, and Texas BBQ nails it. All of the various sides have been solid, and the Outlaw potato is absolutely phenomenal. They load up their side salad, and it is a steal for the price. The staff has always been friendly, and timely. If you want excellent BBQ in this area — this is the place.

I ate here with a co-worker while working in Rochester for the week. First off, the dining area looks nice, clean, and staff is friendly. We each had an «outlaw potato», which consists of a massive potato with another meal on top. Pork, beef, or chicken. I had the pork, my co-worker the beef. Excellently cooked, good flavor, awesome presentation. A+. Then there is the free soup(donations for a charity accepted). We both had the pinto bean soup. It has ribs cooked in there. There’s bones to prove it. Very good. Overall the value was really good. I absolutely felt like I got my money’s worth here.

After a lot of positive reviews from friends and coworkers we decided to give it a try. It was amazing. The food was great and the owner goes the extra mile by providing a couple free soups(with a donation bank for local sports teams). They also have these cool powdered lemon packets for free. Their sauces are really good. But try their ketchup. Mmmmmm. I got the big baked potato. It was great! It had pulled chicken on it. It was huge. Try this place!

So with some hesitation, my girlfriend finally persuaded me to try Texas Bar-B-Q. Of course, I was expecting to leave hungry and unhappy since I am not a fan of BBQ joints. Was I wrong? Totally… I had the grilled chicken breast with a side of french fries and tater tots(was in the mood for yellow food for some reason) which came at a grand total of around $ 15 dollars for me and my girlfriend, very happy with that. I can say what stands out too me is the ambience and style found here. They still use a pulley system to deliver tickets to the kitchen and it functions like a diner, except they call you when your food is ready instead of delivering it to your table… but there is a reason for that. Despite how nice it is, the seating is lacking when wanting to dine on Friday or Saturday nights which results in waiting for an open table for about a few minutes, not that your food will get cold or anything. There is free soup daily which depending on what you like, will either soothe you or disgust you. I took one look and said NOTHANKYOU!, as I am not a soup lover. Besides that, you at least get free re-fills for your drink(self-serve) in a stryofoam cup but it is ok, they aren’t trying to be a five star restaurant here. So why don’t I stop explaning the place and talk about my food? The chicken was served with no bun, just the breast. I kind of expected that but I would’ve like a bun since I was under the impression it was a sandwich but I enjoyed it well enough to look past it. The fries simply beyond delicious. Thus, they were gone in five minutes along with the well-cooked tater tots. I also had complimentary cornbread on my plate, which made me want to vomit. Wayyyy to sweet and looked like a blown-up cupcake. Boo. However, I left Texas Bar-B-Q happy, filled, and somewhat refreshed. I would be more then happy to return, just not alone on a weekend.

I come here often so this five star is earned in many ways. I have eaten several things of the menu and have enjoyed them all. From the turkey sandwich(photo) smokey and delicious, ½ burger(which my 17 yr old said best burger), pulled pork sandwich(again son also raved about), grilled chicken and brisket(photo), pulled chicken and ribs to their delicious(free but please donate to local town organizations) red pinto bean soup(I like to put a little of the hot BBQ sauce in mine). I also was at a party to which they catered. Food was fantastic! I liked it so much that I hired them to cater my son’s H. S graduation. I even had them smoke a whole turkey for thanksgiving. Just order early. Best leftovers ever. See all the photos. Now don’t think this is some huge conglomerate restaurant, it’s not big. It’s kind of dark but the bathrooms and dining area are clean. You walk in, place your order, grab your silverware and wait to be called. It’s just great eats. Enjoy.
