Stopped in with my wife. Nice and clean and very nice owner. He said their specialty was pizza and pasta which we did not choose. We split a roll up and home made humus. Both were good but not great. The menus was a little weird with no concentration of a food nationality.

Amazing gluten free pizza, loaded with toppings! We had the buffalo chicken pizza and kaboodle pizza– delicious! Friendly, knowledgable service from the owners who clearly understand celiacs. Dedicated fryer too! Worth the trip to Spencer. We will definitely be repeat customers!

This friendly little bar and grill is located right before Whitco’s in downtown Spencer. It’s got its own little parking lot, but it’s tough to turn around in, so park on the street. Kaboodles is spacious and comfortable– not much in the way of décor, but with just the right lighting for a good dinner atmosphere. We arrived at about 7:30 on a Saturday night. The dining room was almost empty, but the lone server on duty still seemed a little harried and nervous. Having been a waiter myself back in the day, I know how hard it can be even to cover three or four tables at once– and we were seated almost immediately. Over the course of the meal, we had to work to get her attention, but she always responded with a smile. The menu was surprisingly extensive– a bunch of interesting dinners along with the usual assortment of burgers, calzones, and pizzas you’d expect from a bar ‘n’ grill. I had the Jambalaya Linguini($ 11.99) and my wife had the Ravioli with Orange Sauce($ 10.99). Both came with bread and salad. Our server asked me how I wanted the jambalaya cooked«on a scale of 1 to 10.» I assumed she was talking about how hot I wanted the cajun sauce, so I said 5, hoping for a medium scale burn. What I got was very tasty, but more like a 1 if you ask me. Odd. My wife’s ravioli came with a nice cream sauce, definitely made in –house rather than served from a can. The bread and salad were just mediocre, but the meals made up for it in my view. The meal prices are all very reasonable, too, from $ 6.99 for burgers to up to $ 13.99 for the steak meals on the menu. Kaboodles isn’t gourmet eating by any means, but definitely worth a go.

Not sure if this place has gone downhill since the last reviews, but my experience was nothing like the ones written below. We got to Kaboodle on a Friday afternoon. When we walked in, there seemed to be a weird vibe we couldn’t put our finger on. We were the first customers and got a seat by the window. We ordered buffalo wings and our meal. I got up to use the bathroom and noticed a lot of paperwork strewn along the back row of tables. Not a good sign. The wings took a longer time than expected, and when we got them, they were not wings at all! They were cut up chicken parts(with a weird texture) and cooked in a mostly sweet sauce(seemed more like a honey BBQ sauce than buffalo). My main course was the Southwest burger, which looked good. Unfortunately, it was seasoned with spices that gave it a weird taste. It was also extremely greasy. I like my burgers simple. Ground beef, salt and pepper, mand you are good to go. The mushrooms were from a can and awful, though the onions and peppers were fresh and cooked great. The French fries were nothing more than sliced up potatoes dropped in a fryolater, cooked too hot, judging from their dark color. That said, though, they did not taste bad, they were just not what I would have expected. I found myself thinking of shows like Restaurant Impossible, and changes I would make to the place. The room needs an update with some brighter colors. It seems like it doesn’t know whether to be a bistro or a pizzeria, which may explain the weird vibe when walking in. We also noticed that there was only one other customer, and the phone wasn’t ringing with orders, despite it being noontime! Maybe this restaurant excels at making pizza and we ordered the wrong stuff. Their menu seems huge, with some pretty intricate selections, but I figure if the simple stuff wasn’t good, what chance does the more difficult stuff have at being good?

I have never had a bad meal here. My husband will just ask the owner/chef to surprise him and he hasn’t been disappointed yet. My husband got the haddock with a Madeira sauce and today I got my favorite, a smoky sauce haddock over ziti — we walked out full and happy. I love the mozzarella and tomato salad and knew I couldn’t eat that and the fish dish so I ordered it to go so I can have it for dinner tonight. If your ever in the area stop by and try it. The owner is very nice and eager to please.

Service was quick, the waitress was always checking to be sure that we were happy and the food was great. The menu offered several variations on Italian cream sauces that were served with fish, or crabmeat. We had the Halibut with Crabmeat sauce, and the Halibut Madeira, both, both served over pasta, and both surprisingly good. I first discovered this place 3 years ago and loved the food then. The quality of the food has stayed consistant. This chef/owner knows how to cook, and his variations on clasic pasta sauces is remarkable. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the décor. The food tasted of big city bistro, the restaurant looks like Spencer. Give it some romantic ambiance, cover that rubber tile floor, move the flashing«OPEN«sign to where it doesn’t flash into the dining room, keep the Pizza, but loose the Pizza parlor look, and you’ll have a great restaurant with an intimate dining room. If you build it, they will come.

Stopped at Kaboodle for a quick lunch with my family the other day because we were really hungry. We should not have let our stomachs make the decision. Dad’s turkey sandwich was soggy and the bacon overdone. Sister’s burger was too small for the soggy bun, cheese was congealed and gross. She felt nauseous all day. My meal was advertised as a «mediterranean veggie sandwich,» but consisted of limp onions, jarred red peppers and lettuce drowning in a sauce claiming to be ginger sesame, but it tasted like nothing more than mayonnaise. I completely understand why we were the only people in there. We didn’t try their pizza, but don’t ever plan on returning. A thorough disappointment, avoid unless you are actually going to die of starvation.

Great food. This place is very clean and the pizza is probably the best in town. The staff is very friendly. I will return again.

We go there at least once a month. True, the parking is limited, the service is far from great, the décor needs updating but the food and the quiet atmosphere is worth the drive. After you go a couple times you know what to expect and it’s actually a welcome place to go for a glass of wine, great pasta dishes, no tv, no rush to get you out the door. The chef is brilliant when it comes to his sauces ie, the Asian haddock.

Spencer, MA does not have an abundance of great pizza places and since the town rolls up at 5PM, it is difficult to find anything to eat around here late at night except for McDonald’s. I was excited when Kaboodle arrived and I am glad they are still here. The owner is very friendly as well as his wife. He is a self-taught chef and his specialties are not on the menu. He has told me in the past that you can customize your order to your liking. I love the fresh pizza toppings, especially the Chicken Alfredo. They always have my favorite dessert too, Teramisu! The place is small and the parking is minimal, but I could walk there from my house anyway. I really like the old Italian-restaurant-style décor they have set up. It makes me feel like I am in Italy when I go in there. ;-) I am sad that they are not open as often as they used to be and I hope they can survive. I try to go there when I can.

I’ve had some decent experiences at Kaboodles. The owners are friendly but I find the sit-down service to be severely lacking. The vibe of the establishment from the outside, and the inside décor, begs for a cozy spot where you could bring your significant other for a candlelit dinner. None of that here– the service is a bit brash and the table settings are diner-style generic. Advice for the owners– enhance the table service, the friendliness from your waitstaff, add a small jazz trio on Sat PM and folks will flock from Worcester. Think World Class and don’t limit yourselves to small-town mediocrity.

A small place that is never crowded. Great atmosphere with great food. American Bistro with Italian and Mediteranean Fusion. Try the Carbonara. The prices are quite reasonable and make the food taste a little more delicious. My only gripe with the place is that it doesn’t have the greatest service. I find myself waiting 20 mins. for a re-fill or for a server to check in. They are understaffed for the number of tables they have available. But I must say the food makes up for it.
