My mother moved here in 1989. During those days, the apartments were very immaculate and upscale. Whenever you needed service, the maintenance team were there without hesitation. The apartments were beautiful back then. They even had state, county or city police officers living here to keep everything secure. Now, there is no security. Every time I turn around, someone is fighting. I recently heard that someone was shot when they were taking out their trash. There was also a police raid a few years ago. Is this the type of environment you want your family to be in? I don’t know who owns these apartments now. It seems they are turning into the projects. Everywhere I look there the apartments are looking run down. Every since Section 8 residents moved in, things started to go downhill. I’m aware they no longer accommodate Section 8 residents. It still didn’t improve the quality of these apartments. For the past year, she is having to pay her water bill. They use to provide free water. My argument would be, if you have to pay your own water bill. You would think they would deduct the difference from her rent. Unfortunately, she still has to pay the same amount in rent every month along with the water bill. This is crippling her financially. Her heating and cooling bill is sky high due to poor insulation. I’m sure she is not the only one. They need new windows. The appliances are outdated. The paint on the stairrails is peeling real bad. I look at the ceiling in her bathroom, there is mold growing. She called the leasing office to report it. No one responded to her plea. I don’t know who the owners are. I have reason to believe they are slum lords. If they cared anything about the quality of these apartments. They would provide better service and accommodations. How can someone live in these inadequate conditions? Is it about keeping theses units occupied so the company can still make money? As I’m posting this, I was informed that someone busted her upstairs neighborhood SUV window, and stole something out of it. Side note: he has a landscaping business. It is possible they may have also stolen his riding lawnmower. If I was to give a true ranking, it will be a zero stars. I thought the customer is always right. I can’t believe what was once a peaceful and livable neighborhood looks like is turning into the ghetto.
