The library is a beautiful place and there are lots of activities. My only complaint is the self checkout which only works if you have NO issues. I just go to the circulation desk now.

As a homeschooler, we frequent many libraries throughout Spartanburg and Greenville counties. I also frequented many libraries throughout Florida, where we moved from and I would have to say this is definitely one of the best that we have encountered. They have a large children’s area downstairs and an adult section upstairs. The children’s area includes a large selection of books, several play tables(with games, etc,) and a teenager room(with chess board, etc.). It also offers a totally protected outdoor playground with picnic tables located in the back of the children’s area. The upstairs includes a large selection of books, a complete video/dvd section with its own staff and a little store. All the staff that i have encountered have been helpful, friendly and accommodating. The parking is free and easy to use and the atmosphere is enjoyable. Though this library is a bit out of the way for me, I am willing to make the drive whenever I can!

One of the nicest and largest public libraries I have ever visited. The video section was nice — included language learning DVDs and music CDs. The children’s section was large and included computer stations, ample seating, and a neat climbable train for recreation. They also had a near exhibit when I last visited.

This library is absolutely terrific. The librarians are so helpful, there are many activities for people of all ages, and the selection is large and varied. I moved away and here’s all the things that the Spartanburg library has that I took for granted: 1. You can check out books for 28 days! WHOOHOO!(Current library? 14 days) 2. Fines are 15 cents a day with a maximum fine of $ 5.00.(Current library? 25 cents a day and there is no max fine. The guy in front of me had a $ 90.00 fine and couldn’t check out any more books until paying $ 90.00…his 4 year old checked out 10ish books and lost and found them.) 3. The library has so many new books(Current library? I can’t find books that were published in 2009) 4. You can set up a user name.(Currently library? There’s no way to set up a user name so you either have to memorize your library card or have your library card on you if you need to do anything to your account.) 5. You can put your library card on your key chain so it never gets lost :)(New library? Nope.) 6. The film discuss group is so much fun!(No film group at current library.) The citizens of Spartanburg county are so fortunate to have such a wonderful library. I had to leave to understand how truly blessed the community is to have this establishment.

I come from a major city in southern USA and this Spartanburg Public Library system has my home city totally beat! This is one of the best libraries I have even been to! Close to Main St., this library branch has plenty of parking, handicap included, as well as, an outside«drive thru» book return! Inside, the modern building has high ceilings, spacious open rooms, free wifi, and three floors of books! On the bottom floor is the children’s area which is decked out with a huge 10 foot tall«reading» train, engine, caboose and all! Up the elevator to the main floor is where you step into the Teen area, DVD/CD area, Magazine area, and check-out counters. The top floor is where the adults venture to escape from the crowd in peaceful solitude behind rows and rows of books! There are meeting rooms and computer labs through out the library on all floors. In addition to their tremendous collection, the Library also features wonderful events and activities for the whole family through out the year. During the Summer, children can participate in the Summer Reading Program to win awards like a new ipod! Also they can enjoy weekly fun craft activities, such as tie-dye day, lava lamp day, along with story time for tots and even puppet shows! Adults too can expand their hobbies by joining other members in activities such as yoga, cross-stitch, and book club readings! Be sure to check the Library’s online calendar for up to the minute event postings! Volunteers keep the Library neat and orderly, so join the library staff today and«adopt» a book shelf! With your help the Library will stay looking neat and clean all through out the year! Before you leave be sure to check out the Café and the Gift Shop!
