The service and food deserved only one star. Our server told us «Sorry, you shouldn’t have come here during Restaurant Week.» You would think management would want to take the opportunity to make their establishment a shining example during a week designed to bring in new adventurous diners. Somehow they don’t get that idea. Honestly, one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

Went out with my husband for dinner tonight at the Islander. The place was pretty slow. We sat ourselves down and were promptly greeted by the bartender/waitress who took our drink order. She returned quickly. I ordered the Chesapeake Crab Melt and my husband got the Seafood Club, we also ordered Crab dip. My husband enjoyed the crab dip, the presentation was nice and was a large helping. Our food came out and the portions were really nice. Again, my husband enjoyed his seafood club and I must admit it looked great. I had the Chesapeake Crab Melt which was lumps of crab meat on English muffins topped with a special sauce. This was really good. The only thing I did not like that was not in the description is that the crab meat was covered by swiss cheese perhaps. I just peeled it off and put to the side. All in all it was a nice meal, good service. The drinks were not free refills which we found out once we received the bill. No big deal just found it odd. Our waitress was nice and attentive. I wouldve given another star but the atmosphere is so-so and the tables/chairs arent so comfortable.

Stopped in Islander Inn tonight for the first time. I’m in town. Visiting friends, they went off to the Orioles game I came in for a cocktail and a bite to eat. I arrived to an almost empty bar on a Friday night. The bartender didn’t greet me and took about 5 mins to come over. ON a busy night, no worries on a dead night. Come on! After I order a cocktail I asked if the kitchen was open and she hesitantly replied«yes» putting a menu in front me. Menu was born ing s hell and same old same old bar fare. I ordered the crab cakes(when in Rome) with two sides. Again they were ok. Crab cakes were on the cold side, meat was mushed from using cheap meat and the slaw needed seasoning. Over all I just wasn’t impressed and for being a neighborhood bar and grill I would expect better service and food! There days are limited.

When the Islander Inn advertised a Father’s Day Special featuring«Three Halves for $ 18.95 or Prime Rib Dinner for $ 15.95, My sister and I thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate Father’s Day with our Dad and husband’s/significant others and our children. WRONG! The Menu Options specifically were: #1: ½ dozen steamed crabs, ½ LB steamed, an ear of corn and a half pitcher of beer or soda #2: ½ Rack of BBQ Ribs, ½ Lb. Steamed Shrimp, an ear of Corn and a half pitcher of beer of soda. #3: Prime Rib with a garden salad and Baked Potato Between 8 of us, we ordered: 5 — #1’s 2 — #3’s My son is 14& just had a major Chemo treatment on Friday, but he still wanted to celebrate Father’s day with his grandfather, uncle and stepdad. He ordered the French Onion Soup figuring he would sip at the broth. The waitress made sure to let us know that there was an additional fee for the half pitcher of soda he ordered since he was not going to get the special. She also made sure to tell us that there would be an additional fee for melted butter for the shrimp and crabs. Really?!? It’s a condiment that goes along with the seafood… but whatever! She neglected to ask if we wanted butter and sour cream for our potatoes and I had to track her down to tell her what dressing I wanted for my salad. The salads came first. This was the best part of the meal. The salad was very fresh and it was a generous portion for a side salad. Next came the prime rib to the table… without the potato. It took us 20 minutes to get our baked potato. We were almost finished the prime ribs when it arrived. The crab entrees came. The first three served had 6 crabs each, the last two only had 4. The excuse given was«we ran out of smalls so we gave you the next size up and only gave you 4 crabs per George(the owner)!» Whoa — hang on a second, the advertisement said a ½ dozen crabs. It did NOT specify what size. A half dozen is SIX crabs not FOUR! Strike ONE! My son still had not gotten his French Onion soup. When my fiancé questioned the waitress about it she had a chip on her shoulder and replied«It’s not my fault. The kitchen forgot. It is their error.» and she abruptly walked away. HUH? We just wanted to know when it would be served. STRIKETWO! The crabs we OK. They weren’t terrible, but they were terribly small. Some crabs I don’t even think were legal size. The shrimp was standard steamed with old bay onions and potatoes and was tasty. The two Prime Ribs were uneven — one portion was significantly larger than the other. My son’s soup came and it looked like they took a cup of onion soup, threw two chunks of bread in it, covered it with a slice of provolone and nuked it in the microwave for 15 seconds. No bubbly cheese. In fact, the cheese was hardly melted and the soup had a very strange taste. My son couldn’t eat it. He asked the waitress if he could just have an ear of corn. She said she didn’t think so but she would ask. The owner, George, said NO. Seriously, you have a child with cancer in your restaurant who can’t eat most of your menu items because it would make him too sick and you won’t sell us an ear of corn? STRIKETHREE!!! Overall, the Islander Inn has inexperienced staff serving sub-par food at seafood house prices with an owner who doesn’t care about the customer experience. Apparently a 60 cent ear of corn was more important than getting repeat business from locals.

I came here with my parents for mothers day because they have steamed crabs. I was told the cream of crabs soup was good and it was. Though it took what seemed like forever for it to come. When we got the crabs, which were ready before the soup by the way I was disappointed from the start. The size was barely legal, if that. I didn’t care for the taste at all either. My parents didn’t seem to mind the taste, however my mother commented that she got a few paper shells. I ended up having an order of French fries with gravy to fill me up.
