What a fantastic find! Stopped by after a hike in Mt Rainier and it was amazing! The chips and salsa were hot and fresh with two amazing salsas, and all three people eating were so happy with our meals and beers! Highly recommended the staff is Awesome!

The food was cold. The meat was bland and looked undercooked. The staff we encountered were not friendly at all and won’t even look you in the eyes while they’re talking to you. I figured we’d give them a chance because we love smaller businesses but this place is somewhere we won’t be returning.

On Cinco De Mayo my wife and I attempted to place a to-go order at El Toro on Canyon Road. We were told they were too busy to do to-go orders. We had never tried Tonala before, but I’ll say that we won’t go anywhere else again! Great service, delicious food, and I’ll say it again, great service. We ordered from here again a week ago, and they remembered us. That’s how you build customer loyalty. As I said, we won’t go anywhere else, this is now our Mexican joint for as long as we live here! Thanks for the great experience!

I go to the Tonala at least once a week. I always have the same thing: Street Tacos: Alambre. This translates loosely into«Wired» because of the cheese that melts into strings. I normally have the four taco order that contains beef, green peppers, onion, avocado and BACON, yes Bacon! Super flavorful! Have taken several folks who are now also fans. I did have the Carne Asada once and it was yummy but I always go back to their tacos. Great place to go. SIDENOTE: This used to be another restaurant that I went to maybe three times. It was awful. You could smell the frying grease on a daily basis. It was really awful! Anyway, the Tonala owners invested in a beautiful décor, friendly staff and a great ventilation system. Even the bathrooms are now lovely. Swing by… they have not disappointed me yet.

Super yummy! Loved the green salsa. Hubby had the street tacos and loved them. I tried their Molcajete, which was delicious. Even my 10 year old enjoyed all the food. Service was great too!

First try at Tonala, will certainly be our go to Mexican in the future — good food and warm customer service. Standard complementary chips, but the green and red salsa was fresh and crisp with cilantro. Wife had chicken taco salad — fresh lettuce, not bagged. I ordered the amazing Campechana which was served warm with exceptionally soft octopus, scallops, shrimp and avocado — a must try! Complete meals are between $ 10 – 15. Did not do alcohol on this lunch visit. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Best carne asada I’ve had! And the margaritas aren’t so bad either! Very happy to have a good Mexican restaurant nearby.

Worst pork Carnitas i have ever had. Dry, no seasoning and tasted really old… like a week old!

This place was AMAZING! Service was amazing, they were very accommodating. Our waitress stayed on top of our drinks and checked on us every chance she got. She was great. I loved the décor and the history lesson I got from the owner of the place on the city and people of Tonala, Mexico. The beautiful sun and chandelier in the rooms along with some other décor is imported from there and hand crafted. Just amazing. The food was ridiculous. My husband ordered the Tonala burrito and the Asada meat on there was ridiculously full of flavor, that alone can be the meal itself. That’s how full of flavor it was. Usually, you get these places that drench their food in salsa to try to cover up their flavorless food, well NOTTHISPLACE! I ordered huevos divorciados which translates«divorced eggs». This consists of three eggs over easy, placed over a lighted fried tortillas with beans rice cotija cheese and Pico de gallo on the side. Just Amazing! Please please go get some REALMEXICANFOODTHEREASAP!!!

The service was great, and the food was as well. We had four of the Carne Asada Street Tacos as an appetizer, then my wife had the Carne Asada Skirt Steak, I had the Enchladias-Mole, and followed with Flan for two for dessert. The blended margaritas where okay, but not fantastic. We will be back!

Food is good & service was good. Only problem I have is that we paid $ 30 something and my husband gave a tip on the card it came to $ 36& change when he did… we went in Sunday and it didn’t go through until Wednesday morning. I then look and it says the $ 36 then another transaction right after that for $ 10 from them. We haven’t eaten there again yet & it was exactly $ 10. I am calling them today & hopefully they will help me out… but I would say KEEPYOURRECEIPTS!!! Very annoying when your are kinda scammed by a place that you liked the food at.

I’ve been coming here for about a month. Super friendly. Always joking. Very accommodating for my baby as well. And the food is great. Not your everyday run of the mill mexican. Like really good., not the greasy fatty same Olé flavor mexican food you get at the chains.

We been coming here since they have opened. The food is terrific and the staff is very friendly. The atmosphere of the place is very cool and cozy. Love their salsas they serve with the fresh chips. We usually get pizza on Tuesday however this time we decided to have their taco Tuesday special. Needless to say the tacos were great, especially when you wash em down with beer. Another thing which impressed me is their wide selection of brews to choose from. Great food, drinks, friendly staff and the place is very clean! Can’t beat coming in here and watching football! I highly recommend this place if you are way out here on mountain hwy and 224th.

Went here today. Being from arizona and raised from Mexican parents i did not have high hopes. Ordered the campechana and was very unsatisfied .only had 3 shrimp and the octopus was under cooked, the scallops were tiny and was filled with vegetables. It looked nice that was about it! Taco Tuesday’s in the bar only but WELL worth the $ 1 a taco. Super stuffed with meat and veggies. Yum yum double yum plus chips and salsa. Oh almost forgot the most important part… Hard shells are made in house yummy to my tummy. Waiter was very nice and the cook made too many tacos he gave it to us no charge.

The salsa was really good I liked it. They even made me a spicier red salsa when I asked for it. My fish tacos, I ordered were absolutely not fishy but it had no taste at all. The tacos were two different sizes and had almost no meat in them like the picture shows. The beans and rice were average Mexican restaurant beans and rice. It wasn’t worth the price we paid. My boyfriend got the molcajete, it had more flavor than mine and there was a better portion than what I got. The service was really good very attentive. I would not go back.
