Black Bear Outpost

Stopped in to ask about an outdoor propane fire pit. Rich was very nice and answered all our questions. They sell propane and fill tanks. The store was very nice inside with antique looking items. Rich is a comical guy and knows what he is talking about.

They might have some fun things in their store but we went through this small, local business for Propane. We were able to work out a deal and they were pretty good about allowing us to pay off our propane bill w/​in a couple weeks of filling it (because it was always over $ 200).
However, they’re communication is poor. They don’t follow through on what they say they’re going to do half the time. They don’t seem to appreciate customers who continue to spend hundreds of dollars for propane. They scolded me via phone for moving a tank (our 100 gal. was empty and they’d previously left a filled 25 gal.) We went without propane and heat for a week waiting for them to come deliver (they only come out once a week). AND WE STILL CONTINUED TO GIVE THEM AT LEAST $ 200 a MONTH!
At the last fill up, they had said my Sig. Other had authorized to use my C.C. (which he didn’t). When my S.O. spoke w/​them to terminate service they seemed spiteful and like they didn’t care that they were losing money or that they’d just lost a customer.
If I’m helping to support a small business, I should be treated with respect. I can get propane elsewhere.

I really like this place. My initial attraction was the LP gas. I live in my motorhome and need LP gas every couple of weeks, if the weather cooperates. BBO has one of the best prices around and makes it well worth my while to drive there.
Then I went inside and all I can say is wow. The place is full of neat stuff to buy and at great prices. Stuff like matted and framed photos, works from local artists and stuff of the such. Filling the LP tank here is actually fun because I can go inside and see what they have. The big problem is that I live in my motorhome and as such there’s very little room for anything other than essentials.
The owners are terrific and really make it worth your while to visit this Mom and Pop shop as they set the standard for what a Mom and Pop shop should be like.
If you’ve read some of my other reviews, you’d see that I’m not one to lavish unwarranted praise on a business unless it’s deserved and it is at Black Bear Outpost.
Don’t take my word for it though, go see for yourself. Oh, and if you need any LP gas parts and service then this is also the place to be.

The owners are wonderful people, they have neat rustic décor and they treat you like family, good prices too!
