Downeast Friendship Sloop Charters

We went out today with Steve for a two hour tour, and he was an awesome guide! He knew a lot, answered questions, was happy to have us pitch in (if we wanted, not required!) and told us about the area.
Pricing was very reasonable compared to other places we looked, but Downeast was also the only one we could get a reservation with! So happy we booked and sailed with them. Highly recommend!

Wonderful time! Way better then going on the larger, more commercial boats. It felt like we were just sailing with friends. Boat was great. The best way to see the island. We saw all sorts of birds, porpoises, and seals. We will definitely sail again!

we went a few years ago when my son was one or two. We opted to go out in questionable weather. We came upon a small unexpected gale and heavy fog. These guys can sail unbelievable. It was a bit scary for me because my young son was on board but so exciting to be a part of. truly a top shelf experience. We will never forget it. Dan from Massachusetts

I don’t know where to begin and how to thank Capt. Karl for not one, but two amazing trips out of Southwest Harbor! Myself and my college hiking club come up to Acadia every year and so after several years we have run out of new things to do, or so it seemed… Last year I found out about Downeast Friendship Sloop Charters, and booked a small trip for myself and several friends!!! This year, when planning our trip, I started to think what is some of the fondest memories I have had of Acadia, and the answer was simple: The trip we took with Capt. Karl!!!
If you are looking for a relatively inexpensive way to make your Maine/​Acadia trip really extra special I cannot endorse this business enough! Karl was very laid back, yet if you wanted to know something, he has all the experience in the world to teach you about sailing, the geology of Mount Desert Island, where to look for wildlife and so on! Thanks to Karl and his team, I can’t wait till my next opportunity to get out on the water!!!
