I’m not sure I’m a huge fan of this location. The bread was served cold, the crab claw special didn’t impress, the lobster bisque was too creamy for my taste, and my favorite dish — the stuffed catch with the ritz cracker crab meant stuffing, really disappointed. My dad loves the fra diavlo and felt the same when compared to the downtown Fort Worth location. Service was good though. Everybody waited on our every need, although the servers forgot a beer for the table three times. Once the downtown Fort Worth mess is over, I will dine there instead.

We bought a Living Social for this location and used it tonight. Unfortunately for us we ordered the Lobster madness which was not on the deal. The waitress had suggested it and we ordered that and had an issue when the bill came. The manager handled the situation perfectly(even though it was our fault) and I appreciate her professionalism and customer service. The food was fantastic and we will be back. I hate that I erred in using the LS deal but truly appreciate the manager taking care of us.

I went here twice while visiting in the Southlake area. The first time was Sat. evening when I’d just arrived in. Even though it was early — the place was packed with family’s and early dates. Fortunately, we were able to grab a nice table in the bar. The food was good, the service exceptional(particularly given the crowd and where we were sitting.) Lobster bisque was incredibly rich– so shared that. Bread was fresh. Crab cakes were ok — but needed some oomph from hot sauce to overcome a bit of blandness.(But, then again, I’m from Houston — and we like our spice). Next time was with a group for Thursday’s $ 14 Lobster night. That is the deal of the century — particularly if like me, you haven’t had fresh lobster in awhile. 1lb. of lobster, served with melted butter, vegetable and a baked potato w/the toppings. I added a Ceasar salad on top. Don’t know if it was just a kitchen mistake — but the salad was just lettuce and dressing, no croutons. For some, that pound of lobster just wasn’t enough. For me, it was just right with the salad. Others in the group went for the main entrees — which are double the lobster price, but they enjoyed them — including the grilled and fried fish of the day(tilapia) and a double order of the lobster. Food was exceptionally good. Service was way below par. We waited over thirty minutes for drinks, over an hour for our dinner. Someone had to get up to remind the waitress we were in the back room. However, the waitress with out us asking came back and apologized for the service and offered free desserts for the table which most took her up on.(Not to be missed —that key lime pie!)

Absolute worst service of my life. — Our waiter stood around and chatted with customers(looked like peers) as we were waiting and waiting for our food. Our three appetizers came out cool. Go figure. — Asked for bread and butter TWICE. Never received it because he forgot both times we asked. Asked a busgirl– received immediately. Extra bread and apologized for the inconvenience. This same busgirl we had to give our check to since our waiter took too long to come back. — Had to ask to refill our drinks. This is a standard procedure. Not hard to remember to fill waters. In addition, the neighboring table had a overly-accommodating waitress who kept apologizing for her«slow service» and gave complimentary soups, desserts, AND coffee to her table of 6. They even packed the free goods to-go. And her service was NOT nearly as slow as ours. Lastly, but the worst: We ordered the catch of the day, which was the mahi mahi– suggested by the waiter himself and he came out with a simple salmon dish telling us that they ran out of mahi mahi. He didn’t warn us nor consult us, he literally reordered for us and didn’t even let us rechoose our entrée. Absolutely absurd! To make up for our two hour dine that mostly consisted of waiting, he gave us a coupon for $ 10 off a $ 40 purchase. Won’t be using that since we will not be showing our faces there again. Nor would I ever recommend this location.

I don’t see this place lasting in Southlake long. Pros: Vegetables weren’t bad. Cons: The lobster bisque and Ritz cracker stuffed tilapia was bland and nothing to write home about. Plus, it’s expensive and had terrible service. With places like Fish City, Trulucks, and Papadaux there’s places that are a lot better.

We used to live in Dallas by the lower Greenville location and we have been to the Southlake location 3 times. The staff are as good and friendly as our experience in Dallas. The Lobster Bisque is top notch and for the record real Lobster Bisque does NOT have chunks of lobster in it — thanks to Daddy Jacks for keeping it real! BTW if there is a wait, check out the beer selection at the bar! We will be back there soon!

As a transplanted New Englander, I was real excited to see this place appear in Southlake. Had the right menu items and even the décor was reminiscent of the beach side joints in Portsmouth or Kittery that I frequented years back. Perhaps it was this aura that was created that colors my review with sad disappointment as this place is far more Texas than Massachusetts. Don’t get me wrong, the ingredients were good and the preparation was fair. My Fra Diavolo had plenty of seafood including a whole lobster sitting right on top. The linguine was al dente as it should be and the sauce was plenty spicy. But it lacked the briny New England sea water taste that’s cooked into the sauce that I’m so fond of that my childhood Italian eatery in the North End of Boston somehow manages. I’d get it again cuz its the best in the area but there will always be a sense of disappointment that any displaced New Englander can probably relate to. Side note … the Chowder just plain sucked — by any measure — Texas or Mass. Hope the chef revisits that one as no New England joint is complete without at least a passable Chowder.

Tried on two different occasions. Food is not terrible — great soups. But, the servers are inexperienced and useless. Our server spilled a beer while serving it, forgot a wine order, forgot to bring hot towels/lemon after we all had lobster and then brought our bill — which ONLY had our drink order on it. I brought it to the attention of the manager who got the server to correct it, and so we did two transactions for the dinner. Saving them a loss of about 100 $ you’d think they’d be appreciative and offer a discount or something on the meal… But no. The ambiance is terrible compared to the Fort Worth location, looks/feels like a cafeteria, brightly lit, cheap furniture and décor. Food is good, but not worth the terrible service. Run… Don’t walk… Away.

The location of Daddy Jack’s is perfect because it’s in the same plaza as Nothing Bundt Cake. Besides the prime realty, the food and service was spectacular. We ordered the crab claws in white wine garlic lemon butter sauce(on special menu for $ 20) and it could have easily been a meal for one atop some linguine. You can also dip your bread in the sauce, but I’m sure you’ll lose etiquette points for that. Then, I had the rainbow trout with veggies(green beans and carrots) and pasta(in place of mashed potatoes) and my date had the clams in lemon butter sauce with linguine. The trout was insanely large for a lunch portion but do try it with the artichoke remoulade because that definitely enhanced the flavor. The clams were delicious and plenty but the linguine was drowning in the rich sauce. The service was on point with our waitress being extremely kind and other servers helping out with prebussing and refilling drinks. Even the manager had her hands full because she was helping out on the floor. Our server boxed our food up at the end so that’s always a bonus. People, please come out to the Southlake location to keep it in business because I still need to try the lobster bisque, whole lobster on Mondays, and Mahi Mahi on the special.

My wife and I have been here several times since they opened. We were there last night for dinner and Happy Hour was going on. We were seated at a booth and noticed the Happy Hour Menu on the table in the booth showing their HH specials. We ordered cocktails and appetizers from the HH booklet and the waiter took the order. We then ordered from their regular menu. The meal was fine until we got the bill. They charged us full price for the drinks and appetizers we ordered from the Happy Hour Menu. When I asked the waiter to correct this he advised me that Happy Hour was only good in the bar area and he showed us the fine print on the menu. Question. Why are those Happy Hour Menus in the dining room and why were we not told that when we ordered off it? These Southlake residents will never frequent this restaurant again.

This is the first time my boyfriend and I ever tried Lobster Bisque and it was great. We ordered the same thing we got at the Fort Worth location, the Shrimp with tomato basil sauce on fetticine pasta and the chicken with sundried tomatoes and capers. Everything was perfect. I highly recommend this location!

Continuing my mission to seek out Dallas’ best Lobster Roll… I ventured to the place knows as «SouthLake». The people were friendly and seemed to have more money than I, however, no matter I was not dissuaded in my mission. «To seek and recommend great Lobster Rolls in DFW» I did enjoy their chips, though the New England Style kettle chip isn’t really my favorite, these were good. Their green salad that came with the meal was also very tasty, I didn’t spot one leaf of Iceberg, and there were radishes and mushrooms on my salad… very nice. I wolfed the sides down to get to the main course. The Lobster Roll. It had a good buttery flavor, there was also a flavor in it I couldn’t quite place. Not the best in town. But satisfying. Probably the best Lobster Roll for those folk west of the airport. I may or may not return though… it’s a bit out of my way, but I do this for my tastebuds, and they basically rule my behavior… basically.

Wife and I on the prowl and had heard that FW Daddy Jack’s had a Southlake location closer to us. We love the FW downtown scene but decided we wanted to stay nearby. Southlake is every bit as good as the FW location, plus a full bar. Always love the crab claw appetizer and my wife and I had the 8oz. Lobster tail which was awesome. Finished dinner and then hanging at their bar watching the Mav’s game.

A whole lobster with a baked potato and sauteed veggies for $ 14.99 on Mondays?! That’s a pretty fabulous deal! However, I was a ninny and ordered the lobster tail instead because they pull it out of the shell for you. This way I didn’t have to stare my food in the face. I don’t like to eat things with faces still attached. Plus, it came with that steamy potato which tasted freshly baked vs. microwaved(+ 1000 points) and truly tasty carrots and green beans. The best part was the bowl of butter I got to dunk the lob in. Such warm, melted goodness. Paula Deen would be proud. Before the entrees were served we ordered a Il Donato Pinot Grigio(which was pretty super pricey at $ 35 a bottle — but good!), and pre-cracked, blue crab claws as an appetizer. These were incredible, although I felt a bit barbaric looking into that bowl of ripped off claws; the remains of a sad crab massacre reaching towards me. Oh well. 10⁄10 I’d order again! For dessert we chose the flourless chocolate cake, and I’m telling you, it’s not for the faint of heart. It ought to be reserved for true chocolate lovers only, those who appreciate super dark, super rich chocolate. This cake was like a solid block of pure cocoa on a plate. If you’re one of those weirdo«I prefer milk chocolate» people, this cake is too powerful for you! This Daddy Jack’s location is warm with a New England spirit, as it’s intended to have. Homey, east coast décor, red and white checkered tablecloths, great service which accommodated my GF needs with a smile, and beautifully fresh seafood(well, as fresh as it gets in DFW!!).

Hallelujah! There’s a Daddy Jack’s in Southlake. Been going to Daddy Jack’s since the first one opened in the 90’s on Greenville. Been to Coppell and Ft. Worth too, many times. We went during happy hour on a Saturday for some wine and appetizers. Lobster bisque was wonderful(and rich). Shrimp cocktail was very fresh and cooked perfectly. Clams in lemon/garlic was perfectly cooked too; loved it. Great food, great service. We’ll be going here a LOT.

Went last night to dinner. I am desparate for new dining choices in Southlake and we anxiously awaited the opening. The place was packed but we got seated quickly. Friendly service and many items on the menu sounded good. We started with two appetizers. Crab claws were good but drowning in butter. Sort of expected. No problem. The mussels in red sauce. Not so good. Mussels just did not taste fresh. The red sauce was the best part. We then tried two trout entrees. They were so overseasoned that you could barely taste the fish. And LOADED with butter. Even the fresh vegetables were soaked in butter. We also got a shrimp dish. Decent shrimp with crabmeat floating in butter. Come on. Same thing happened to me last ime at Bonefish. I want to eat healthy. I like fresh seafood. If you are going to drown everything in butter I would rather go to Babe’s and eat great fried chicken which is likely healthier than what I ate. Will not be back.

Although this location is just a week«young», the food and service was outstanding. Both the lobster bisque and clam chowdah were great, and the meal selections were superb.

Went in for light dinner. Had Clam Chowder and wife had lobster Bisque. Neither were very good. No lobster in the bisque and chowder had little flavor. For a «Chowder House» as they call themselves, I was not impressed.

Happened into this place at 3 in the afternoon a time when many places start to forget their front door and possibly any customers they may have. Not here, upon walking into the front door we were immediately approached by 2 of the staff, immediately seated and asked if we would like something to drink while we pondered the menu. The rest of our lunch was just as pleasant. Come to find out they have only been open for 2 days! The SO had the Dominic salad with Grilled shrimp. The salad was fresh but what made this was the shrimp: cooked perfectly! I had the grilled chicken sandwich, also cooked to perfection, but what I found refreshing were the sides: green beans with carrots and mashed potatoes. A very nice change from the usual choice of FF, chips, or if you’re lucky, slaw. The ambience was also pleasant and complimented with red-and-white checked linen tablecloths. Our only complaint we had was we thought the food was overly salted(salad dressing, chicken, veggies) but we are pretty sensitive to this and think most people won’t even notice this. This is a definite place to check out, and save room for the Key Lime pie! Men’s & Women’s restrooms: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Service: 4* Food: 5 Ambience: 5 Bang for the buck: 4** * had to ask for refills once, attentive but not observant. ** thIs may be unfair since this is based upon our observation of dinner prices but we didn’t have dinner. This is pricy but if all the dinners are as great as the shrimp this could be pulled to a 5.
