Not for buffet but sit down Hibachi is better in my opinion.

My family loves Gobi. It’s great to be able to meet everyone’s demands in terms of which ingredients to add and which to omit. I can add all the cilantro I desire to my plate and no one complains! Delicious food!

This place was ok. The food was decent, I liked picking everything and watching them cook it in front of me. The ice cream was good as well. However, the frozen meat pucks and vegetables were odd and I probably won’t go back because of them. I’ve been to other places like this that use fresh meats and veggies and that’s much better. It’s too expensive for questionable, flash frozen pucks of food.

Easily the worst food in Southington. I don’t even know where to begin. The food is so bland, it’s impressive. The first plate of food that I got was completely burnt beyond recognition. What I gave the cooks to cook is not what I got back on my plate. The vegetables I had a weird fishy taste to them. The protein is so bland that they actually put salt and pepper shakers and soy sauce at the table. I thought this was odd until I tasted the food. For some reason, as they’re cooking the food, they are constantly squirting it with bottles of water. This, effectively, washes away all taste that may have been there. The sauces are garbage, the proteins are terrible, the vegetables are in edible. I will never ever ever go back here again. I heard the lady at the table next to me say«how do you mess up ice cream?» I would rather have gone to McDonald’s for lunch instead of spending $ 25 on that ridiculousness. Steer clear of Gobi.

Had lunch here a while back with friends… The experience was unique and adventurous … Being in control of making my own plate did it for me. Its like being in a grocery store minus the hassle of cooking it urself… Definitely a winning idea… Great for picky eaters. Although the ingredient and sauce buffet is large. I’m not so convinced by the quality of it… Not complaining… You get wat u pay for.

Great concept and great execution. There were tons of options and all the vegetables looked fresh. A lot of the meat was frozen, which makes sense in this context. The owner clearly thought every detail out — from seasoning, to garnish, to sauces. Be careful with how much red pepper and hot sauce you include… my dish was a bit too spicy. White rice is free and they bring it right to your table. I loved my dish so much that I took leftovers home. They charge you $ 4.99 per lb for lunch. My leftovers(without the rice) came out to less than $ 4 and completely worth it. My only complaint is that I wished they cooked the shrimp last in my dish. My shrimp was cooked for too long and it was tough. The cooks are fast and very very efficient. Add an egg to your dish — you won’t regret the added texture and take advantage of the variety of great veggies they offer.

I love that you get to choose exactly what goes in your dish, right down to the sauce. Lots of different meats and veggies to choose from, you never have to have the same meal twice! Fun and interesting to watch your food being cooked as well. Fun for kids too! I also must mention how polite the staff is as well A true pleasure dining here.

Very clean, reasonable spot with great food. There is even a salad bar and a ice cream station. So many different options to choose. If you prefer rice over the noodles, order it from your sever before you go to the meat and veggie station.

First time here! Came after checking the Unilocal reviews. Gobi is located in a strip mall so parking is plenty and available. Came here with a friend and we were seated promptly. We walked up to the food bar and I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was. As a big eater, the format was great for me. You pick your meats, noodles and veggies. Meat selection includes beef, chicken, meatballs, italian sausage, squid, mussels, shrimp and pork. You can also grab eggs if you like that in your meal(I definitely did) and they have udon, lo mein and rice noodles! Veggie selection is plenty too. I tried all the meats and some of the veggies and everything was good. I really liked the spicy italian sausage, the squid and the shrimp. I do agree with the reviews that some of the sauces were overly sweet but the spicy sauces were pretty good. There’s also garlic, chopped scallions and chili sauce available which were great. The cooks were all friendly and nice. For $ 10 on a saturday, I will most likely be back! Really cool experience and food was good.

A great restaurant with great fresh food! Only worth going during lunch since it’s only $ 10.00. Dinner price is $ 16.00 and has exact same choices for food. Ask one of the cooks for a saki while they are cooking your food at the grill station! It’s a sweet alcoholic drink that they squirt in your mouth and usually play a drum beat at the same time. We asked during dinner so not sure if it’s done during lunch, but it is included in the price. You will have the squirt of saki going for as long as you’d like! My son introduced me to the place and I have been there two times so far and love it! It’s my top choice of all restaurants!

The service is terrible. Unlike other Mongolian establishments, the meats are frozen. They charged for tortillas that kept coming out over cooked. Waitress doesn’t understand English and kept forgetting and messing up my order even with her coworker telling her what I ordered. I’ll stick to BD’s or Genghis from now on.

This place is what you make it. You create the dish and its contents, the ingredients are combination of raw and cooked so you have to be careful and use the tongs and don’t get cross contamination going on(wipe your hands with provided wipes after you hand off dish to cook) always enjoy the food, staff is pretty attentive(sort of like the level of attention you get at a chinese buffet)

As a Providence, RI native, I can say that this place kicks Fire & Ice’s ASS. I wish Gobi would come this way and give F&I some competition – they have such a plum spot at Providence Place, but the restaurant itself is a mess compared to Gobi. Gobi is clean, well lit and has AMAZING drink specials. $ 2 for Sam Seasonal? Yes, please. The veggies are all crisp and fresh and the stations are constantly being cleaned. I like that the meat is frozen, it just looks cleaner and is easier to keep sanitary. The grill area is also kept much cleaner than I’ve seen at other similar restaurants.

This place was average and has a basic concept. Set up like a buffet but you have control over what ingredients you want and how much you want to eat, definitely. Good thing you can choose to opt out of say, protein, for instance if you are a vegetarian! Choose your base: Udon noodles, white rice, soba noodles… Choose your source of protein: chicken, pork, beef, seafood(shrimp, fish) Choose your vegetables: broccoli, snap peas, carrots, etc. simple ones… Finally choose your sauce: general tso, teriyaki, sweet & sour, marinara, orange ginger, kung pao, korean bbq(this one was my fav), chinese bbq, garlic, pad thai, ginger sesame, yellow or red curry, szechuan Bring your dish over to the«circle of life» where the chefs are to sauté up your creation. There will be numbers along the round counter which you place your dish on top of and move it along the next number as people ahead of you get theirs cooked. It’s just their system so it’s fair and customers aren’t fighting to get theirs cooked first. We came as a large group of about 8. Servers felt accommodating at first but it became a little too much because we felt as if they were anxious for us to hurry up and leave because we were a larger group. It did not help our cause when my family asked them if they could do a birthday treat for me. They obliged & it took a while for them to prepare it but they finally came out with a cheesecake and drums. It was like a small parade. I enjoyed the concept of the drums and cheesecake but the look on most of the servers’ faces was painful. They looked emotionless or annoyed(which went along with their need to rush us out). They hovered over me as I rushed to eat my cake, eagerly waiting for me to finish so they could collect it. And that was the end of it.

I’ve been to Gobi about 3 times and it’s been consistently good every time. It’s like a perfect combination of an all-you-can-eat buffet and hibachi. It’s nice to be able to pick the items that you want and combine them to make endless, delicious dishes, and then to watch them get skillfully cooked hibachi style. The waiters are attentive and the cooks are very thankful if you tip them. The atmosphere is classy, but not to the point of being pretentious and ritzy like Tengda in Milford. It’s definitely a memorable dinner every time and I look forward to going again and again in the future. P. S.- They actually have bok choy and lamb here, which is very unusual for a buffet. How cool is that?!

I have been to Gobi Mongolian Grill twice and loved it twice. I loved that you pick the starch, veggies, proteins, and sauces and then you bring it up for the«grill masters» to cook! For me, I pile my stir-fry with lamb, scallops, shrimp, salmon, beef, sugar snap peas, asparagus, and bok choy. Unlike other buffets I have been too, everything is high quality, even the salad and dessert bar! Thanks to a promo code from Groupon, I was able to get this meal for two for only $ 14, which is less than the normal cost for one. If there is another deal on Groupon, I would snatch it ASAP.

You may be a skeptic like I am. But never fear, it’s a very solid buffet-style, cafeteria-style place. I liked it. Here’s what I liked most: A ton of fresh and unique vegetables, like bok choy, or napa cabbage, or snow peas, or, well, you get the idea. Then noodles, then a bunch of proteins. And a ton of sauces. What I also liked was how they cook it. They are sensitive to food allergies and will cook it separately and with different utensils. Very nice. The price is right — $ 14 on a Tuesday. You go back for seconds, get dessert. And bonus: For kids that aren’t into Asian, they have pasta with marinara sauce. For the win. It’s a family-friendly, millennial friendly, anyone friendly place. No, it’s not gourmet, but it’s not trying to be. And for what it is, it is very good.

I’ve frequented mongolian grills at my local mall before, and was wondering how the concept would work as an entire restaurant. If you’re lazy and don’t feel the need to read any further, in sum, the concept works! A decent price, and unlimited go’s at the buffet! The spread of meats and vegetables are standard, yet decent. Nothing is looking grey, or wilted. Everything appears fresh and ready for the pickin’! I can honestly only do two rounds, as I tend to make the mistake of piling on far too much the first time around. There are an array of sauces to go with the different meats, veggies, and noodles you decide on. Be sure to sauce your plate up so its not too dry!(I recommend hitting the meats with sauce directly, as those are cooked somewhat separately) The sauces are added once the veggies and meats are 75% cooked, so sauce up directly!(not just in the little bowl!) Overall, a fun, tasty, and inexpensive way to eat out. Try it!

Gobi is a perfect affordable go to. It’s great to have a local spot where I can go and be creative. For those who don’t know, Gobi is a lot like Fire & Ice. There is a buffet type layout but the food is raw. You begin creating your meal by selecting the ingredients and placing them on a plate. They have everything from fresh vegetables, to several types of noodles, to lamb, chicken, pork, beef, and multiple types of seafood. The concept is great as it lets you experiment with different combinations and flavors. Want to have a little more spice in your dish? No problem. Need a little more sauce? No problem. You get to pick exactly how much of anything you want to include. A tasteful creation is just a few selections away! You get to be creative and have a delicious meal. Be sure to check out their check in offer when you check in with Unilocal
